But it really isn't. This is fairly basic math. Yes Russian forces are moving into areas all around Kyiv. But they don't seem to be in numbers or depth anywhere needed to truly lay siege to a major metropolus and its suburbs. The city will be devestated from all the fighting. Thousands will be killed. But they don't have anywhere near the numbers really needed. Yeah we don't need to know the Russian Order of Battle. They don't have half a million or more troops around Kyiv. People keep bringing up Stalingrad. At Stalingrad the Germans had one of the largest Armys ever fielded. They approached the city from a side they completely controlled. And when all was said and done their Army was essentially destroyed. Taking a contested city with an entrenched resistance is a herculean task. Attempting to take a city by siege when you don't control at least 3 of the surrounding sides out to a depth of 100+ miles is idiocy. Will the city fall? Probably. But at an insane cost in Russian manpower and equipment that far outweighs whatever they were hoping to accomplish. They went from special operation to quagmire remarkably fast.

I don't know how many troops it takes to besiege the major cities of Ukraine but it is not even close to 500,000. The siege just has to prevent things from getting in and out which will mostly be by the roads.

The Russian strategy, if Syria is any indication, is to just lock people in and shell it, then offer surrender. The real tragedy is that all of this "Ukraine is kicking ass!" propaganda means the world has no idea how bad things really are or will be in Kiev but it certainly is and will be pretty bad and the Ukrainians cannot win without outside help.

Deleted my message to avoid slap-fights but fuck it. I do not think that Stalingrad is analogous to this situation because the German forces were stretched extraordinarily thin in manpower and logistics, long before entering that city. Their issues were far greater than Russia's current-year hurdles, train jokes aside. Insurgencies aren't really capable of annihilating an occupying force. Their objectives are meant to cripple their invaders' morale, political will or economy so much so that the invaders decide to pull out. Viewed that way yes, Russia has a good chance of losing this conflict. But it will be through fatigue, not annihilation as was the case with WW2 boogaloos. Most of Russia's errors to date are due to underestimating Ukraine's resilience, being overly aggressive and not having direct experience with fighting a relatively modern and large military force. There's nothing here to suggest they are losing inasmuch as inconvenienced, seeing as they are taking territories and pocketing Ukrainian forces at a breakneck pace.

WW2 Japan was racist as fuck. Against whites (who they had a burning sense of resentment and inferiority towards), but much more so against other Orientals like the Chinese (who they murdered in their millions) and Koreans, and Filipinos, whose kids they enjoyed using for target practice when they weren't running around hospitals stabbing the patients, or burning down schools and convents with helpless civilians trapped inside. Their war crimes are legendary, worse than anything the Nazis and Soviets ever did. Maybe worse than Genghis Khan, who at least knew how to turn people into allies because he wasn't a racist lunatic out to brutally enslave anybody who didn't belong to his tribe.

Alright I'm getting this from a Russian source so feel free to distrust it, but apparently this is video of Ukrainian police gunning down the head of SBU (Ukrainian FBI) in Kiev. They had tried to detain him at a checkpoint and he started to open fire in his escape attempt.

The United States stumbled badly with the government admission that there military laboratory facilities in Ukraine. It was in particular bad because they had been denying that they had any presence there previous to the admission. Rather than try to explain or deal with the problem, they just started insanely screaming about conspiracies, propaganda and all sorts of other stuff.

The US has given the Chinese a real chance to slap them around in public at the UN. The audience isn't the cattle in Europe or the America. Its the rest of the world. The US military has biological labs all over the world. It looks bad. And they have no plausible expination for it. This is part of a greater scandal associated with COVID and Wuhan. The US is conducting and funding a huge amount of medical research both in foreign labs (including Chinese government labs like Wuhan) and in US military labs in third countries. It just looks bad.

This is the scandal that Dr. Fauchi screamed at senators over in an attempt to change the subject or cover it up. This sort of medical research and these programs are not meant to be discussed in public forums. Its a real legitimate scandal that has been brewing for years and has been covered up by the complicity of the US Mainstream media.

Where this goes next is that the publicity at the UN over all this is going to cause the countries all over the world that host these programs and US military medical facilities to start questioning them. Or perhaps kicking them out. I don't think the people in washington care about american public opinion. But opinion in the other countries does matter.
