It really does cheer me up knowing that being perceived as an awful gamer still hurts Phil so much even after all these years. I put his Italo nonsense at 15-20% personally. There is the nature vs nuture argument, but Phil fails on both counts. He doesnt have the genetic backing (mother was half italian, born in the US) to be italian nor the cultural backing (italian americans are not italian and have deviated quite a lot) to claim to be italian or even italian american (although he totally doesnt claim it dood).

Not to mention all his ideas of being italian are based on negative racial stereotypes (greasy, gangsters) and what food he eats (pizza). Nothing about Italian family values, beliefs/faith, superstitions, language (including dialects). Fuck he doesnt know anything about italian history, geography or anything he could talk about being Italian except that Italy...exists.

I vaguely remember way back in the day Phail talked about his mom making him both Italian and Polish dishes. I maintain that if there was an alternate timeline where they made a TV show about a crime organization called The Kowalskis in the late 90s to mid 00s he'd talk about how he's the most Polish man who ever Polished and he'd sperg out about authentic East Coast Polish pierogi and kielbasas, while the Burnell special family recipe would be flaki he'd dump a cup of sweet paprika powder into.

His great-grandfather and great-grandmother were from Italy, Making him 25% Italian. His grandmother is Polish and something else, not sure. His dad's side I have no idea, as I can't find anything on his dad tbh as far as relatives go.
