If you think watching live feed from a modern war of bodies maimed and literal asses blown off people is desensitizing its even worse for the soldiers actually there.
You can only consider the sanctity of life so much after seeing plenty loved ones, friends and complete strangers turn into gibs and red mist that splash into your boots.
There's a reason suicide is a lead cause of death for many veterans, they no longer feel human and society is blaming them for it

I don't believe he killed any and this is just a propaganda piece to try and get more citizens to fight on behalf of Canada so Canada can deny any actual involvement. Maybe this is how we fight proxy wars now. *puts on tin foil hat* Instead of paying a local insurgence, just have your own citizens who don't have any affiliation with their nation's military to fight.

I mean if combat vets have some misplaced sense of duty to join Ukraine's foreign legion then whatever, but it doesn't say great things that the locals are torturing them, nor does it say great things in general that he was expecting Hadji in a suicide vest or some shit and completely ill prepared for enemies that can fight back.

Yeah. I think a whole lot of people who served are going to go over there and find out that this is a whole different type of thing than the counterinsurgency work they did in places like Iraq or Afghanistan. Most of them have also not thought through the medical situation in a place like that. This is a real conventional war against people armed as well as they are and they have air superiority. It also shows the language problems that most people who go over there will run into.

I'm glad he was able to get out just about intact. I think alot of other people are not going to be so lucky.

This is one of the reasons why I don't want the US to get involved. They've been fighting desert farmers for over 20 years and they weren't even good at doing that. The US's war doctrine is no doubt all kinds of fucked up, and is more than likely to be mostly, if not entirely, be changed with fighting insurgencies in mind. Nothing learned from the middle east will work against a modern military with national backing.

How many soldiers have that? How many soldiers were directly affected to/related with Iraq?

I don't get people being okay with things when soldiers do them at the behest of governments but not individuals on their own accord.
