Exactly. The part of Berserk that this is taken from is infamous even amongst fans for being over the top with gore, all for the sake of making the villain of the part as edgy as possible. Berserk has a lot of brutal and obscene moments, but it's all to build characters or the world and it never uses them for shock value alone. If you don't like the gore it's as simple as not reading it.

There's a lot of gore porn were it could be true but when they say Berserk has nothing to say is because they have only ever seen the shocking panels and nothing else, as butthurt tweetfags are prone to do. Berserk is very consistent with its themes and the violence and cruelty plays a role in that world. And you are right, Wyald is a villain and the ultimate degenerate asshole, you are supposed to be shocked by him.

Irreversible has a 9 minute violent rape scene done in one shot no cuts. It really highlighted the talent of the actors in the scene because it does the full spectrum of emotion and horror you would expect from an actual event like that and was able to make even someone who is an extremely jaded viewer feel a level of discomfort I can still remember to this day.
