I dont understand why people are opposed to Slavic dishes, I love every single one I've made. The only thing they lack are roasted meats. I'll destroy some dumplings, borscht, radish salad, smoked sprats on black bread and pork&carrot stew etc. I'm going to make a beet salad perhaps one of the "cursed" ones with gelatine once it warms up.
Russian spice cookies with a little sugar glaze are absolutely fantastic too, I left some fresh baked ones out for my local fire department for an inspection.
There is your problem right there. The only thing Lithuanians are notable for is ruining good things the Poles or the Russians gave them. When I stayed in Lithuania
Authentic Italian? or the stuff that was made in new York's Little Italy region?Ethiopian food is hands down the worst.
I'm going to just fucking say it, Italian food is most overrated.
I actually like Ethiopian a lot but it's not common outside of ethnic areas. Seems like one of those things you either really like or despise.Ethiopian food is hands down the worst.
I'm going to just fucking say it, Italian food is most overrated.
Everyone says British but Shepard's Pie is underrated.
A couple years ago an Indian family moved in next door to me. Their cooking is so pungent I can smell it from 100 feet away on a windy day. Every now and then it smells OK but usually it smells like rancid cooking oil infused with burnt spices. Absolutely nasty. Good thing I'm moving soon.A former co-worker of mine was a frail, 70 year old incestuous vegan from India. He would always smell horrific even when he wasn't blowing up the breakroom and bathroom with his lunchbox shit.
Indian cuisine is disgusting regardless of if it is authentic or an imitation. Drowning starchy vegetables into a curry of cumin, cinnamon, chili peppers, tumeric, and ginger is overpowering. Not to mention they're usually averse to beef and pork.
To add to this, I think you could make an argument that Northern/non-Southern US cuisine is basically sandwiches. It seems like sandwiches and pizzas are the big things Americans really made a big deal out of even if they didn't invent them. (Who invented what isn't really important, everybody the whole world round has basically the same food, just emphasizes and spices things differently.)Seriously, have you not tried regional stuff from the south, New England, or Louisiana? Properly done creole and cajun dishes are a taste of heaven...
You know what, I'll agree with you here actually.Danish.
Sure they have pastries and butter cookies, but what else? The only people I've met from there always say the traditional food is terrible either store bought or home made and when they come to my country they always revel in how much better the food is.
And my country sucks for food
Cantonese isn’t bad either.Hey, Laziji / Chongqing chicken is actually good. Genuine Sichuan cooking is top-tier. Y'all niggas are missing out on the best China has to offer.
On topic, I'm going to signal Ethiopian food as being lousy and disappointing. Imagine Indian food without the depth or the texture. The spicy food has all the heat and no flavor. The bread is also too spongy.
Cambodian food is lacking, too. The dishes tend to be way too oily and greasy.
While not bad, Japanese food is overrated. Apart from ramen which is genuinely tasty, too many of their dishes taste weird to me.
French food can either be top-tier or absolutely disgusting. No in between. They tend to burn things.
The issue with broadly saying American or British cuisine is shit is that a lot of their cuisine is ubiquitous. British and French cuisine are opposite sides of the same coin at their heart they are the same, but they run counter due to England being a rainy island hellhole and they had to experiment with a lot of awful ideas.
America after the 50’s had way to much surplus shit. They made enough SPAM to feed the world ten times over (Russia and England were actually still eating through that until the late 70’s.) US cuisine partially got killed during Prohibition and then again when processed foods and TV dinners were more affordable due to the US having wartime surplus. The US has way to much regional specific food. Barbecue, seafood, roasts, and desserts vary by region.
Chinese breakfast sucks dick. It’s rice porridge, even the Japs rightfully adapted once they realized eggs and sausage are fucking amazing. Indian is also terrible because they used spices to cover up rancid veggies and meat. They shit themselves because of that usually.
There’s a special place in hell for the person who first thought of canned dolmades. The only things Greeks do well are olive oil, some cheeses, octopus and lamb, everything else is garbage.I despise Greek food. Nothing good has come out of Greece. I think the only thing I liked from it was the baklava and the loukoumades and that was it.
