While I'd agree the companies leaving is a short-term blow to the Russian economy, nothing that has left couldn't be replaced with Russian entities over time which would really be better anyway. People forget that throughout most of history, international companies being allowed to hold a lion's share of commerce in a foreign country was unheard of. Tbh this sort of "LET'S GLOBALIZE EVERYTHING!" attitude to me at least seems to be another case of the post "enlightenment" world trying to combat the conventional wisdom of the old world such as mercantilism which does view trade as being a competitive sport. You mention China, but one of the reasons they've become a superpower to rival the US despite previous economic disasters is that they don't buy into this suicidal modern economic dogma and do treat trade as being competitive.

A country with a military that we can see now is already a roadblock for the Russian army and would only have become more so over time.

They will have too little money coming into to fund things like that especially if this war turns out to be a long term affair and unlikely they will be able to get any loans with their current inability to pay them back
