America being responsible is not even the argument being made, they're just taking the War on Terror and comparing them to the Russo-Ukrainian war & are like "Yep that's the same, and if it's the same that's justification for Russia."

Yes, the response to this has been schizophrenic, but not unpredictable nor surprising. How many years have we heard nonstop jabbering about Russia from Democrats? Everyone still thinks we're in the Cold War, that's the big reason why all these nations are reacting the way they are. The global relationships held with these particular regions during the 80s pretty much sum up why we aren't treating Saudi Arabia with the same scrutiny as Russia.

Apparently it might not even be a "failure" but rather yet more corruption. Reportedly the the FSB generals who were responsible for Ukraine have been arrested. Supposedly for embezzling money that was supposed to have been spent on agents in Ukraine.

Those wars aren't the same, they're much more poorly reasoned and deal with much less imminent threats, but again, not the point. I'm well aware that the US has strategic considerations that mean that it'll treat Saudi Arabia with kid gloves for conduct much worse than anything Russia has done. But this is something relevant for the decision makers of the US who are retarded Cold War fossils one drunk bender away from endorsing Generalplan Ost. For the average voter supporting the war craze is supporting himself getting poorer and possibly dying in a nuclear holocaust for something going on on the other side of the world that will, if left to its own devices, do nothing to affect him.

I am sure the Spanish Republic had some kind of "commando" force or special troops but that is an incredibly niche topic and well outside the realm of pop culture. Going to take a guess here and say they mean the clone commandos from Star Wars.
