Do itI already have a garden but I'm still thinking about whether or not I should expand it. I'm gonna be growing potatoes in buckets but I'm thinking of just getting more buckets and using non lawn space instead. I'm worried about the potential fertilizer shortage but composting can definitely fix that plus my area is giving out free compost bins.
I'm also gonna get a pressure canner soon to increase my food storage capabilities as well.
1. Macro nutrients are not micro nutrients. Still, you're right that there's no shortage of calories in the western world, at least as long as cheesecake exists. Yum!Will this food crisis solve the obesity epidemic? Only half joking. But tbh, lots of people would have to lose a lot of weight before they're actually "starving".
I actually bought gardening supplies this weekend. Potatoes are stupid easy to grow, as are tomatoes and other vegetables. Only issue I'm going to have is keeping animals out of my garden. I live in an area that has a bunch of rabbits, possums, foxes, raccoons, deer, moles, rats, etc. all over the place, so idk what to really do to keep them out.
I'm thinking about getting a shotgun. I've always been pro-gun but never bought a shotgun after a friend accidentally offed himself when I was a kid. Besides, I live in a super safe area that never has any crime, to the point I keep my doors open and unlocked during the day, and things like "porch pirates" simply don't exist here. But idk... these times have me thinking it couldn't hurt to have one in my closet, just in case.

2. If you have a rifle or a pistol that you feel more comfortable using, that's better than a shotgun that makes you nervous.
The only capability that a shotgun practically adds is for birds. A rifle of reasonable caliber (.22lr is not adequate) is as long as a shotgun, but has similar terminal effect when aimed properly.* [see: Anthony Huber]
It's not uncommon for the first few times to make you jump, even if its just with a pistol and you have hearing protection. It's a small explosion going off in your hands, there's going to be a bit of nervous tension until you get more acclimated to it. There really isn't much to be done except get some practice in, once you've got a feel for the gun it shouldn't make your heart leap so much.TBH, I think another big reason guns have always freaked me out is because my grandpa let me use some of his when I was little, and he didn't bother to give me any warning about what to expect, nor any hearing protection. So, I remember being scared due to the guns being super loud, in addition to feeling like I wasn't strong enough to hold the guns when they fired. I remember even shooting a small pistol (idk what kind), it felt like I had ZERO control over that thing due to the strong recoil. It was a bad experience all around.
Maybe I'll always be nervous around guns, but who knows... maybe I would end up being a total gun loving nut if I tried them out as an adult. I like using BB guns, and I always wanted to go to a gun shooting range. There's a few near me, so really, I need to stop making excuses go to one.
Combination chicken wire fence and a dog will work better then a shotgunWill this food crisis solve the obesity epidemic? Only half joking. But tbh, lots of people would have to lose a lot of weight before they're actually "starving".

They have the cuckservatives to run around and put out the fires they made, so as long as they keep cleaning up the mess, the assumptions hold true. The left genuinely believes that complex systems are static, and can only move in a progressive, leftward direction, and only when lefties make changes, and changes only occur via the intended lefty change plan. Defund the police? Crime can't go up, police still have to respond just as fast, it's just the budget number go down, hur dur. Once you realize this "static systems" thing is dogma according to the left you can't NOT see it and it explains like 90% of their bullshit.
Double the amount of money in a single year? Oh nothing bad can happen we'll just have more money going around. Pay people the equivalent of $17 an hour in weekly stimulus checks to NOT work? Clearly this won't affect the economy in any way other than it will make people happy and they'll buy more stuff!
Unintended consequences? Sounds like a right wing chud conspiracy theory!
Also the Europeans had the same growth spurt we're seeing in Africa back in the 19th century, every society gets this when they industrialise for the reasons you describe. Africa industrialised last so that's why they're still at the crest of theirs. Eventually they'll get too urbanised for the 10 kids per woman thing to work out.Correlation does not equal causation retard.
The reasons those populations are spiking is partly because we got rid of malaria, smallpox, and leprosy. If those shithole countries get their shit together, their birth rates will go down. If we just stopped giving medical aid, do you think their infant mortality rate and lifespan are going to magically improve further?
I've seen people use those reusable cloth bags you can get at stores like Walmart as growbags for vegetables, I imagine they'd work great for potatos at 50 cents a pop, and at the end of the season you just rip open the bag and collect to spuds. It might be worth looking into sunchokes also known as Jerusalem artichokes, they're a relative to sunflowers and produce edible tubers. They require absolutely no care and will freely spread potentially becoming invasive if you let them. You can leave them in the ground until its time to harvest then you just dig them up.I already have a garden but I'm still thinking about whether or not I should expand it. It's debateable whether all societies can industrialize because the model that permits industrialization picks winners and losers. For instance, in the 19th century, Latin America and 19th century Russia were losers and the UK, Germany, and US were winners, but a lot of that is because their economic model worked based on supplying key raw materials to the industrializing markets. Even now, those areas are still losers compared to the developed world, hence the term "middle-income country." Winners and losers are inherent in capitalism, I think the question is how big the winners "win."Also the Europeans had the same growth spurt we're seeing in Africa back in the 19th century, every society gets this when they industrialise for the reasons you describe. They were famous famine foods in World War II, and apparently if you bake them for a long time they'll produce less of the junk that makes digesting them such a pain.Fair warning they will clean out your colon with the amount of gas you'll have after eating them, your body will eventually get used to them and produce less gas if you continue to eat them.
blue states oppress landlords very hardRent it to a non-nigger (preferably Asian) and move to a saner location.
But you should generally have a shotgun. Last thing I bought as far as firearm categories, because it's just not cool, but you need one for small game and birds. A just-in-case thing.Combination chicken wire fence and a dog will work better then a shotgun
it's not easy to accidentally kys with a shotgun. not that easy to kys on purpose with a shotgun either. angles are wrongTBH, I think another big reason guns have always freaked me out is because my grandpa let me use some of his when I was little, and he didn't bother to give me any warning about what to expect, nor any hearing protection. Sell it now before you get exit taxes or confiscation, if you are in heavy blue area either will get depopulated and thus your property made worthless, because of the crazy policies or get fucked into the ground by taxes or something else . Either way run for the hills .blue states oppress landlords very hard
What? People commit suicide with two shotgun shells to the back of the head all the time. It's very common among people who suddenly turn suicidal out of nowhereit's not easy to accidentally kys with a shotgun. not that easy to kys on purpose with a shotgun either. angles are wrong
I do wonder what will happen to all the houses and property people own after the economy collapses and the new Government takes over.Sell it now before you get exit taxes or confiscation.
while i agree with use what feels best to you you did not account for the de-escalating effect these sounds have2. If you have a rifle or a pistol that you feel more comfortable using, that's better than a shotgun that makes you nervous.

Will taxes be too high for the plebs to own property, or will they just snatch it out from under you and force you into the pods?
