General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I mean, her and Kson essentially get to do whatever the fuck they want and rake in the cash without having to give a cut to any corpo and without obligations. I'd say that is pretty good as long as they can keep their audience around. Kson said the JPs really like the anime kayfabe, so I assume if she gets a 2D avatar she should be able to keep her audience long-term.
Makes me wonder if the rest of Cover's girls will start realizing this and start jumping ship in mass.
One of the big benefits of being in Hololive is the collab potential. Once you go indie you have to stay with the indies, and we know how many of them are.

Mumei's playing Doom Eternal. I wonder how that's gonna go.

This will be her first on-stream FPS I believe. She's jumped in apex and valorant games with ame and a couple others before I think, but never streamed her side. So this should be interesting. I'll have to catch the VOD since Gura has a member's karaoke going on right now as well.

Eh. I think people are focusing too much on the tip of the iceberg (SC) and missing the shitload of revenue streams that a member from Hololive has. Not long ago, there was a dude in vt's /#/ thread that found a way to extract data from the Hololive store, at least before some retard from Reddit posted the method in r/Hololive (fucking dumbass). Basically, it was found out that Hololive really was making bank from merch. Okayu, who isn't someone who you'd call popular despite having 1 mil subs (the same as Matsuri) was pushing 500k US dollars in merch sales within a week. Pekora and Rushia was close to a mil I think. And even Choco-sensei's throwaway cookbook that she shilled was netting her close to 50k. That isn't even accounting for sponsors which most streamers will tell you is their main source of income. And Hololive basically gets you the major sponsors now (Bamco, Kadokawa, that mining and Sake group that Lamy got to work with, Nissin, etc). And that's not even accounting for paid concerts by the idol focused streamers like watame, suisei, etc. There's a reason why even the livers from Nijisanji try to direct their audience to buy merch instead of SCing. And even discounting that, it's been well documented that going indie is stressful as shit. You have to be the one to deal with and researching possible sponsors, lest you run into the same issue that Valkyrae got into and be made into a joke. If Coco and Rushia left Hololive 2-3 years ago prior to them making it big then i would've agreed with you but the current Hololive (and to a lesser extent, Nijisanji) are literal golden tickets.

Finally got around to watching the not-Rushia stream from earlier. What I'd heard about it—that she was weirdly nervous, exaggerating her madness, using an unusual voice, etc.—wasn't really true. It was a Rushia stream with real girl hands in it. So I'll continue to love this crazy bitch and not give her money.
It's not exactly that she's unusually nervous or exaggerating, it's her body language that's interesting. Notice her hands and what she does with them especially - she moves them a lot and her movements are often very sharp. There are tells like tapping her feet at several times too (for example at 11m30s). Tension like this is indicative of strong emotions and probably a relatively poor control over them, it would explain a lot if this is a honest way she acts on day-to-day basis. Body language like this reminds me of some of the more volatile people I've had to deal with in my old job - but circumstances matter so judging by that alone is definitely not fair. And she has valid reasons to be nervous after the yab.
Putting that aside, she's overdoing her voice a bit at times. It's a bit uncanny.

There are pros and cons to going indie vs corpo. Kson had to hire a trusted manager to help her manage her shit, do people actually think Mike has anyone she trusts that she can hire for this? If not she's gonna learn quick that back office type support is one of those things that is never missed until it is not present(side rant on corpos offshoring IT and other support jobs across the globe to India/Philippines being Pikachu.jpg when things start failing).

For people that want to further their careers as performers or get involved in big projects corpo is the way to go. We probably won't ever see Kson or Mike as 3d avatars fucking around on a stage with a group of friends again. But the plus side is no singing and dancing practice for concerts!

On the indie side, immediate money is obviously better without corpo cut. As long as Kson and Mike keep getting views and modest superchat amounts they're pretty much set for the next few years unless the bubble bursts. One thing to bear in mind is that various flesh streamers have said that donations make up a very small part of their income and sponsors and merch are where the big bucks are.

If Kson and Mike are able to negotiate these then for sure they'll be able to set up a nice nest egg. Obvious chink issues with Kson getting big sponsors and we also don't know how much goodwill Mike has with her reputation as someone that does not respect NDA. Worst case scenario we might see them shill for Raid Shadow Legends or NordVPN or *shudder* NFTs.

If only Rushia had NordVPN her messages would have been protected.

So twitter got mad at ironmouse for drawing guro art.

Arts not that bad

Yeah, sorry man, I don't think even Twitter can tolerate shit like that. Also, wtf was that?
Both of ironmouses Instagram accounts used to be full of art like that tbh, her personal insta had some along with selfies but iirc all of those have been deleted since she joined vshojo. I think it's just her way of expressing how she feels about her illness more than anything. She's mentioned before it makes her feel like her body isn't her own, how she feels that she can't even eat normal food, how she feels helpless etc, always pretty brief with it.

I straight up wonder if being part of a corpo will be a good thing or bad thing for mouse in the long run. I'm sure the money and such is very nice as are the additional opportunities she's had from it. But as I've mentioned in the past, I don't think ironmouse is a vtuber in the sense of being a paid entertainer like most people are used to - she would be and was doing this long before it was making her any money. It's like a form of expressive, therapeutic art for her, and as we are seeing now, there are a lot of things you "can't" express when you have a paid audience under a corpo handle. So I wonder how long she'll be able to keep it up and keep up with the expected scheduling etc, and wonder if she may have been a bit happier in some ways back before she had any lines to toe.

Just before it inevitably gets posted and discussed.

Momosuzu Nene leaked a whole bunch of her PC files today.

Before anyone asks, there is absolutely nothing here. Just a barebones directory of Minecraft skins, song folders, settings, merch stuff etc.

She names the folder for her streaming assets "nenenenenenenene." Adorable.
It's probably not even that deep. Girl in physical misery draws girls in physical misery, externalizing/sublimating her bad feelings in a style/genre she likes. Hurt girl art is universal, but non-weebs don't do identifiable "guro," and truly crazy people don't stylize it at all; they just make straightforwardly ugly horrorshit. Mouse is troubled but sane. Of course Twitter is mad about it.
This was my interpretation too. Her body is constantly under attack and basically being torn apart by foreign bacteria and diseases, and the art is just an externalization of those feelings.

Others talked alot about the monetary aspect of being corporate but there is also a huge social aspect as well. Recently, Saurei and Tenma talked about how lonely it can be as a streamer and having easy collabs and off stream conversations can bridge loneliness and create friendships - see Noel and Flare bonding about Plantes and the Fubuki and Marines otaku radio show. The recent Hololive main channel video on voice acting was a cool insight, they partnered with an animation studio for free lessons for the talents, and stuff like that could bring people together easily. I think Calli conveyed the feelings of independent creators really well when she mentioned that it always felt transactional in the indie music scene and now with this nice structure she feel comfortable making friends. Kson is American outgoing while Mike is... but wishing her all the best.

I think Mike is definitely the same but seeing the actual person not being filtered by the live2D or even 3D model made her feel so manic and stressful to watch. It reminds me of when Beatani did her VR video and watching it you can really see her ADHD that isn't directly captured on the live2D.

Now that Hogwart's Legacy is going to be announced in a couple of days how many vtubers are going to cuck themselves and not play it? because by buying the game you are giving money to JK "the troon genocider" rowling according to the twitter genderspecials
