while i agree with use what feels best to you you did not account for the de-escalating effect these sounds have
I don't think I've seen audio/video footage of a single case of the noise of a shotgun being useful.

Boomerlore is not what wins gun fights. Rittenhouse didn't start racking his rifle to dissuade his assailants -- he was open carrying and they still came after him!

Anybody crazy/stupid/evil enough to break into your house needs to be traded with for emeralds (in Minecraft), not deescalated.

i've seen it. it's a thing. and there's no difference between a large rowdy mob and most likely one or two people trying to break in. your the smartest person i have ever encountered man. what are you doing here and not leading nations armies? oh and fyi loaded up mossberg shockwave, buck shot, \ woulda made the crowd disperse in the other direction not towards him.

I do wonder what will happen to all the houses and property people own after the economy collapses and the new Government takes over.
Will taxes be too high for the plebs to own property, or will they just snatch it out from under you and force you into the pods?
You forget that around 40+ million first gen immigrants and 80+ if you count their kids . If anything i have learned from previous countries collapses like Libia and Venezuela is that first that leaves is the immigrants and upper middle class. There were few members in here who openly said they have packed their bags or in process of packing and getting out of dodge in USA. That is the first sign second one is immigrant repratriation increasing to the point first you get some equilibrium then it turns in net loss . I don't have the numbers but mexico already reached that during Obama years now probably you will see people from further away leaving .

So you will get lot of abandoned properties and the government will either enforce law selectively on squatting or let squatting laws rights slash transition like after certain time of living there the squatters get the property wholesale and the previous owners lose rights.

Also the might go full retard and force anyone who has space to rent it out to the state for pittance and then get " roomates' there was similar schemes in britain if you have free extra bedroom and you got some sort of government assistance you have to rent it . Now the people who who got fucked were boomer women with it so not many gave a fuck because everyone hate boomers the women especially.

It will probably be mix between the housing situation in USA is untenable as i see it . Homelessness increases people decide to drop off work market because is cheaper to move back home and work part time to cover basically weed and food bill than to stay.

I won't be surprised if they started building favelas on abandoned mall properties and similar places .

To add if i had the option to cash out while the dollar and the real estate market is worth a damn and leave with 500 k+ i would have in a heartbeat . Pack up bags somewhere in the neck of the woods preferably with some land and like-minded people stock up on food , pms, various currency that seems solid , weapons , prayers and watch how retards fight and riot in the hives on the internet and pray the fall of the American empire won't be felt by a much in your place.

same thing that's been happening. it's not going to be spectacular, it's not going to be full communist. it will become more and more expensive to own property and more and more difficult to pass it on to your heirs.

of course this just makes owning a house and passing it on to your heirs even more desirable because it's a status symbol. same thing that happens when governments make it difficult and shitty to drive.

and then there will be a correction because nobody went to 10 years of wonk grad school to get the job to run all this shit so that they can raise a kid in a pod.

people want to make comparisons to commie revolutions in third world countries but it's retarded because we're not a third world country.

Uncle Paul himself has said firsthand that racking the action does not deter an attacker. He had to kill someone after that.

And lookie here, the Zergs are panicking:

Unfortunately, that is something you see alot in warfare. Shooting in the air doesn't work as many of those who are intent on attacking you will proceed until it becomes very clear its a bad idea when a few of their homies go down. Breaking morale is such an important part of war.

As for the further Wu-flu fear porn... can't blame em for stoking the fire. They understand that the Baizuo just never learn. They learn how to spread their buttcheeks further for more tyranny and ruin themselves, but never figure out that they are being scammed.

What? People commit suicide with two shotgun shells to the back of the head all the time. It's very common among people who suddenly turn suicidal out of nowhere
a shotgun? its not that common, if you also have a handgun in the house. if there's only one gun in the house and it's a shotgun, sure ya do what you can with it.
[I was curious so I looked up the stats. looks like a .38 smith and wesson was the gun of choice in the 80s.]

Dooming and growing food is my life. Here are some thoughts:

I like the YouTube guy David the Good. He has like 40 kids so he really needs the food he grows and his systems are a reasonable compromise between permaculture and efficiency. https://m.youtube.com/user/davidthegood

He wrote a short book called Grow or Die that is the most realistic work I’ve seen on this topic of startup for gardening when it counts. I would start with this book, the ebook is very cheap and it does an excellent job laying out the different systems for growing food in an urgent situation. https://www.amazon.com/Grow-Die-Guide-Survival-Gardening-ebook/dp/B018BKK10E

If you’re already a grower and you think the shit might really hit the fan long term, I recommend the book The Resilient Gardener by Carol Deppe. Very autistic.

The limiting factor for most gardens is some mix of sunlight, water, and nitrogen.
You need at least 6 hours of sun a day to grow most food (greens are different but also have basically no calories), 8 is better. Most gardens in most climates need at least an inch of water per week. You can make do with somewhat less if you space the plants further apart. Nitrogen comes either from chemical fertilizer or from organic fertilizers where usually the soil life breaks it down into a form usable by the plants. In ideal circumstances, don’t use chemical fertilizer. It isn’t good for the soil life and that’s what’s actually helping grow healthy plants. If you’re in a crisis, don’t worry about it and lay on the miracle grow.

If things get bad and you can’t get fertilizer, save everyone’s urine and dilute it 1:10 with water, then apply. Don’t apply it on the leaves of anything you’re going to eat soon.

Keep all your household scraps and compost them. There are many fancy compost systems but you can also just bury the scraps in the garden. Ultimately you’re just trying to cycle nutrients instead of sending them to the dump.

Sunchokes/Jerusalem artichokes/fartichokes are a food that sounds great but very few people can tolerate in quantity. People claim that long slow cooking, not harvesting until after winter chill, and fermentation help. I think they’re mostly a curiosity.

If you really need to grow calories, in temperate climates that probably looks like corn, dry beans, winter squash, potatoes, possibly sweet potatoes, and maybe sunflowers for seeds/oil.

I think even if it gets rough, you might not really need to be self sufficient for calories. Which is also really hard to be honest. So it’s kind of good news bad news, because it’s hard to grow enough calories, but with even a small space you can grow a lot of herbs, tomatoes, greens, green beans, and so on. And it’s easier and cheaper to store a year of purchased rice and beans and then grow some fresh food, than the inverse.

If you don’t have good garden space, you can grow quite a bit in containers. Cheap containers are either repurposed or “grow bags”. Fill the bottom half of the bag with dry sticks and partially rotted wood and stuff like that and the rest with potting soil, the wood will hold water and you’ll save on potting soil. Containers will loose water more quickly than in-ground growing, so check the soil every day or other day.

Easy/encouraging first crops to grow are lettuce, radishes, basil, green beans. Tomatoes, zucchini and peppers (get these as starts at a nursery) are pretty easy for most people. You can start peas from seed right now and potatoes from grocery store potatoes if you want to experiment.

Hearing talk on twitter that the Fed might raise interest rates tomorrow.

There's also this, which came out today and made some major waves.

So yeah, prepare for marketgeddon 2022 if true. The SEC is telling people to prepare thy anus, either way.

We've been putting this off for a while and it's gonna fucking HURT when it finally hits.

It is to be expected, a combination of supply chain problems, Covid regulations, rising inflation and now a major war and sanctions affecting the global economy.

It will be a miracle if things don't get this bad

Perhaps Yuropoor Farmers could give us valuable context. Has this ever happened? How unprecedented is this?
Ask any Yuropoor over the age of 75 how fun rationing is. In the UK, there was actually rationing from 1939 until the early 1950s.

>sanctions would have a bigger impact than the war itself
It's literally the West shooting itself in the foot for the sake of the global managerial class, but hey, let's be proud we can #StarveWithUkraine

You can't give out general gardening advice. anybody who has one size fits all gardening advice is an idiot.

If things get bad then people will specialize really fast. There is nothing to be gained from everybody trying to be selfsufficient, even if it were possible, which it isn't.

that said, if the idea of growing sufficient calories in your backyard assuages your anxiety, then grow potatoes

one of the ways you can tell nobody's serious about this shit is the total absence of information about what to do when trash pickup stops. very few people are living far enough in the boonies that trash isn't going to be one of your biggest problems.

True, but you can't deny that if everyone was self-sufficient it would be pretty awesome.

Trash is never your biggest problem because you always make it someone else's problem. Like that's why you pay someone to dispose of your trash. If shit hit the fan, then people will just leave bags of trash wherever they feel like. The worst will probably be fags from the suburbs who are used to driving but are scared of their HOA so they'll drive to nice rural roads and throw their trash their. Most probably will be out of state fags too from New York or California.

Important bit of thinking, this.

People in apartments, I have no idea what they'll be able to do.

If you have a some land, separate your garbage into things that will rot and things that won't. Make a compost pile for things that rot, find a place to store or dump things that won't.

Don't let the hipsters tell you that composting has to be fancy. Look up some permaculture experts and listen to them. Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm is a good one. In fact look him up even if you aren't composting stuff. He's just smart about things.

If you've never really gardened before, now is not the time to try to have a subsistence farm. Grow a few things to have alongside whatever else you can get from the shops.

Also maybe be aware of where your medications come from. Things are weird out there.

I planned to get into composting, but when I read into it about how pests are a huge problem, and you have to get the ratio of green stuff to brown stuff right otherwise it doesn't work, it put me off bigtime. I'm not looking for a new hobby, just a way to dispose of kitchen scraps.

Anyway on gardening. I set up a hydroponic grow two months ago and while it definitely has a hard requirement for power to run, the yields are incredible and I should have my first tomatoes in the next week or two. a 2x4 grow is enough to basically provide vegetables for a family of four forever.
