NATO's also slowly admitting that "yeah, maybe 1,300 Ukrainians and 13,500 Russians KIA is propaganda". So far I think it's only a Swedish outlet that's said that Ukraine's running a big misinformation campaign and Western sources are happily taking it as fact.
Politico talk about the 'likes' war and it isn't the worst. They do shyly admit that the ghost and the island fuck you stuff are not wholly factual, but the main point is that Ukraine have run a strong propaganda effort. I think that's credible. There's crap like blaming Russia for Brexit and Trump, but it is an interesting article.

This Rogozin mofo had just invited Polish PM Kaczyński to have a talk after Eastern Yuropean leaders had their talk in Kiev. He invited him to Smolensk. Quote:
"Fly to Smolensk, we'll talk."

His brother, being a president at that time, died in a plane crash failing to land in 2010 in Smolensk.

Fucking kino.

And earlier he wrote another jab at Musk, referencing that Musk had transitioned due to exposure to nazis. I can't.

Russia vessels advancing on Odessa according to a blue tick naval and defence journo HI Sutton. This could be journo smoke blowing, but potentially a Russian landing near Odessa might restore Russian momentum. The UA are saying it is a missile assault, not necessarily an upcoming landing. One navy vet account says this seems to be a relatively small force aiming at where the city is strongest, and the forces it would carry just wouldn't suffice. It would probably result in brisk business for Russian coffin makers.

Nah even America is saying Russian deaths are 5-6k. Media is selling a lot of total bullshit that even the US state department isn’t buying.

It’s too blatantly false for the US military to play along with it, they at least want to be seen as competent and credible.

The US doesn't mind this whole thing, they get to write off all the failings of the Biden administration on Putin. Western Europe is boned, though.
Can't wait to see this used as the justification to hasten the creation of the EU army and the erosion of its member state's sovreignty.
Thank fuck Bongland left.

I also think the A-10 has an identity crisis, the issue stems from how the A-X program was managed and how it put the A-10 in a limbo.
Initially, the A-X was an attempt to repeat the success of the A-1 Skyraider, but without the 215 losses (USAF and USN). The first A-X designs put on paper were actually turboprop aircraft. Halfway through the program the requirements changed, and suddenly the cannons had to be capable of engaging reinforced positions and armor. Hence the need for the big fucking gun and for the aircraft to be designed around it. So now you have a "cheap" COIN aircraft that's more expensive than it should be and arguably overpowered to be used in theaters like Afghanistan, but also designed to carry heavy ordnance so it can engage Soviet armored columns even though its life expectancy against SPAAG and MANPADS is estimated to be very short.
There's laser guidance units for both the Hydra and the Zuni, the Hydra is the most used. The guidance kit is called APKWS and it just screws into the normal Hydra rocket body.
Having air superiority doesn't negate ground threats, so smaller bombs made to fit inside the bomb bays were developed for the F-35. There's also the fact that stealth aircraft can still mount a few external stores and still be stealthier than a conventional aircraft.
Is there a formal difference in terminology between "I'm the only one flying" and "As long as I stay out of MANPADS range, nothing can hurt me"? I feel like there should be, but I was Army, not Air Force. Stealth I'd file under "nice to have", but not strictly critical if you're supposed to be operating from a position where the enemy is reduced to visual detection. If the F-35s can knock out the AA, then this theoretical tank-buster can come up behind, drop the 30+ warhead clusterfuck, and hopefully be back for round 2 before the enemy can get reinforcements in position.

America actually knows how to lie about casualties. Ukraine is still at a Hellenistic era of propaganda where 100 soldiers can easily wipe out 100.000 if they believe hard enough. Only problem is, we've regressed to the point where questioning Herodotus would have you hanged for being a Persian sympathizer.

I've bet money on Elon Musk trooning out, and I believe this counts. 2022 delivers yet again.

Nah, the EU is going to fall apart as soon as the hunger starts and waves of refugees start pouring in.

Since I don't have a Dumb button to push, I'm just going to tell you this: you are fucking dumb.
The future is now, old man. Lowtax was the lynchpin, and if you were more in tune with the universe you'd know it too.

Still, it's worth noting that non-fatal casualties are around 3 for every one dead in the modern day, although it's worth noting that shitty logistics that make to get wounded to a field hospital much more difficult, and a probable lack of CASEVAC because the Ukrainians still have heavy AA capabilities, are likely inflating those numbers. At minimum causalities are around 15k for the Russians, with Ukrainians being only slightly less.

Part of this is the medias perpetual and longstanding inability to differentiate Casualty from Killed. Casualty includes killed and wounded or otherwise rendered combat incapable.

There goes the Canadian manlet. Lasted all of 20 minutes. At least now he gets to serve as a warning to all foreign tourists.

War is hell and Russia isn't fucking around. Whichever side of this you support, Ukraine needs to quit the propaganda for several reasons, this being one of them. It's making foreign volunteers, even veterans, think the war's a cakewalk they can just waltz into. I heard of another interview with a foreign volunteer who outright said he'd been lied to and Ukraine was doing far worse than they let on.

I tried staying out of the news and the shitshow for a week, didn't work.

I'm tired boss.

I'm tired of all the propaganda trying to tell me that Russia is responsible for decades of bullshit our Ukrainian-Israeli Senators and Politicians are responsible for. It's like everyone in the goverment has a huge investment in that country but the American People.
I'm tired of being told that a war that we the people have no horse in is the most important thing in our lives. We weren't this fucking patriotic over Iraq and Afghanistan and those were our people.

Also.

Zelensky is a fucking knob.

> HELP US NATO PLZ HELP US
> Okay. Just follow our rules.
>Eh.... No thanks. Just keep giving us money and guns.

I found it on Wikipedia, not the best criteria but I was surprised of all places that one would have a line saying Ukraine might just be lying to people. It links to a Fortune article, but I can't read the rest of it.
You can generally bypass newspaper paywalls by pasting the link through a archive site.

But civilian deaths are far easier to corroborate than those of combatants, said Shawn Davies, a researcher at the department of peace and conflict at Uppsala University in Sweden, which maintains a massive data set on armed conflicts and their casualties.
According to Davies, Ukraine’s government is engaged in a misinformation campaign that aims to boost morale, and Western media is generally happy to accept its claims.

It's a researcher in Sweden saying it, not a newspaper. Swedish newspapers are basically nordic CNN with state-funding, so they probably still claim the ghost of Kiev is shooting down hundreds of Russian planes daily.

Believe you've provided good numbers. Would be interested to see how many POWs each side holds.

We've heard a lot about Russian logistics issues. Would be interested to learn how Ukraine is supplying their forces.

It would also be very interesting to know just how many dead Russian soldiers have actually been returned to their families for burial.

Don't think this was already posted: Another video of the Donetsk cluster bomb aftermath:
Edit - graphic and disturbing !

Wow, I really wish I hadn't watched that. This war needs to fucking end.

No more brother wars.
Fuck Zelensky.
Fuck Putin.
Fuck Biden.
Fuck Hunter Biden.
The only winners in this war will be the Jews and the Chinks.
