I can't rule out the Ukrainians throwing the volunteers under the bus and letting them die. These are Redditors. At best a couple of Iraq and Afghanistan vets who think that blowing up hajis was the same thing as fighting a mechanized army. They don't know the area. They don't speak Ukrainian or Russian. They're dead weight. They're not like the battle-hardened Syrians who had to fight in Aleppo and Homs without the kind of air support that the USAF and USN can bring. The western volunteers are larpers and potential sources of friendly fire.

Generally catastrophic. Not only for the farmers but for those who rely on the markets. The commodities market is absolutely crazy at the moment and the threat of sanctions, blockades, and poor growing seasons has everyone guessing. Of concern is the Middle East, and Africa will starve without Ukrainian and Russian wheat. China has been gobbling up every kernel of grain it can get on the market and has something like a two year stockpile of grains of all varieties. And India is a big importer. Oh, and that's not counting Europe which also can't feed itself.

There are plenty of farming news aggregator sites that can keep you up to date if you are inclined.
I use this one.

Being in this general region I prefer the Capital Press which is handy.

(Not sure if the KF quote system is working right but here goes)

Much of the "winter" crops are already in the ground. Winter wheat being the major one which you seed in the fall and which remain mostly dormant throughout the winter. Much like the grass in your lawn, it will then begin growing again in the spring and summer before it is finally harvested in the late summer/early fall. Generally Late July, August, September.
There are other crops that you plant in the fall that Ukraine/Russia and here in the US which are major players on the commodities market. Canola being one. There is winter Canola. Winter peas. Etc.

However, confusing matters is that there are Spring varieties of wheat. Spring varieties of canola. Sunflowers which are very popular in Ukraine. Peas, lentils, etc. And corn. These are planted when the ground is warm enough and firm enough and harvested again in the late summer or fall.

It depends on the crop rotation that farmers opt for. Some prefer the one year on, one year off crop rotation for their fields. These are generally the winter wheat farmers. However, more modern techniques opt for a triple rotation planting Wheat, Sunflowers/Peas/etc, before leaving the field fallow for a season.

Think of the medieval crop rotation most of us read in high school history books. It's still mostly a thing.

This guy is "Ukrainian" and thinks harvest season is in April or May? What is the world coming to when Slavs can't even get their planting seasons right.

Touch wheat, nigga.

Officially more like the 10th Century with St. Olga of Kiev converting in order to secure alliances with the Byzantines. No doubt there were large numbers of converts among the lower classes first.

In 988 or thereabouts Vladimir the Great, who was a hard, pipe hitting reactionary pagan up until that point, made the conversion to Orthodoxy official. Again, for diplomatic reasons but perhaps also because he felt a true calling.

I could find better sources but Wikipedia is good enough for this lot.

Perhaps they grow a lot of winter wheat.

Arch is a bit of a sperg, but a few days ago he commented that the geometry of the battle was actually opening a window for Ukraine to launch a counter attack. Apparently he was right, because it's happening about when he said it would and where he said it would.

I wouldn’t trust the opinion of a man whose knowledge of military tactics mostly comes from fighting Orks with his Space Marines.
Arch wasn't even all that keen on this plan. He said that it required elite troops moving very quickly for a negotiated settlement. Given how such agreements have fallen apart before, it probably won't work as it relies on NATO to see Ukraine as an actual winner.

Russia wants to take the country intact, not Fallujah the poor bastards into the Neolithic like certain other countries might do.
bro there's ample footage of them blowing apartment blocks to pieces (people live in those, you know, lots of people) with tank cannons and missile strikes. this whole "russia is pulling punches they want to minimize casualties" meme was believable for like the first 3 days of the war when they didn't do much except roll through uncontested territory and recon, but we're long past that.

What did I miss?

They should be reverse-engineering this shit instead of shooting it at dead tanks

LOL that fat fuck fell for the glownigger boogaloo honeypot and now he fell for this shit too

This is why murrica is lost
Given that they're apparently capturing stocks of it from the Ukies, familiarising yourself with the weapon is never bad. The eggheads can deal with the reverse engineering later.

This really is a proxy war.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't one of the main reasons we got dragged into WW2 because we were supplying europe with shit then too? Something something doomed to repeat it.
Lend-lease? America happily bankrolled the war effort from 1939 onwards, but it never triggered any reprisals from the Axis powers. Really, it was the oil embargo (lol) that eventually pushed the Japanese to do Pearl Harbour and finally drag America screaming into the war.

I don't know how this makes the situation for Ukrainians any better. Yes, it does clear up suspicion that the entire Georgian Legion is screwed (perhaps Henry Hoeft was talking about a different base), but the fact that supply chains are getting fucked is just another balls-in-your-face sign of air superiority on the other side. And it also doesn't change the fact that one of the guys in the video you linked did confirm that they were being forced to the front with no weapons or equipment.

Oh, and yes, in case this hasn't been posted before, the American talking about the Georgian Legion base getting fucked is named "Henry Hoeft".

The thing is I think the West could have worked out a post-Euromaiden detente with Russia, where they would agree to not integrate Ukraine into NATO, but would integrate it into the EU. It would have been the best things for Ukrainians.
They couldn't have, because the Euromaidan was engineered by the US for the express purpose of fucking with Russia. If the decision was really up to Ukrainians, Burisma would be paying bribes to a Ukrainian official, not to Hunter Biden.
If Trump relented, sure, but it was impossible because of the (lib chickenhawk-engineered) Russia conspiracy bullshit.

This seems like the smart play for Ukies, but idk how long Russia and the US/EU would let them play that game given the color revolutions, annexation of Crimea etc. This is like two pitbulls fighting over a chew toy, the chew toy doesn't really get a vote, it only gets to squeak
Ukies could've pulled it off if they took the Sevastopol deal, elected some moderately corrupt guy when Yanukovich's term was up, and became Hungary (or at least what Hungary looks like from Russia): pro-Russia nationalists ensure peace and maintain friendly diplomatic relations, anti-Russia nationalists ensure it isn't absorbed by either Russia or the pozzed EU.

Lukashenko (of Belarus) was fucking with Russia a lot in the early post-Crimea years despite being constantly derided as a dictator by the West, it's only when globohomo hit Belarus in 2020-2021 that he had to make a choice (and was proven right when globohomo hit Kazakhstan in 2022).

One of the great ironies of this whole affair is the whole canceling of Russia is what Dugin and his ilk have always wanted, a separate identity and culture from Europe and the West.
Dugin is a pedo faggot but this is unironically awesome. Even the non-Anglo culture Russia imports comes filtered through Anglos.

I won't hold my breath waiting for him to follow through. All of state-funded arts and most of the media are traitors.

If Putin loses enough soldiers he will have an unpopular war on his hands that even he can't hide from the general population. Then he will probably be removed from power, because Russian leaders depend on wars being popular or forgotten. They can't throw everyone in the gulag.
Dude YELTSIN stayed in power. I don't know what else to say.

So the Ukrainian claims the destroyed building was a civilian shelter (with 1000-2000 people inside), while the Russian claims it was an Azov HQ. Honestly we won't know who is in the right here until the bodies are being picked up
We already had Ukianians hiding in schools, so it can easily be both.

It's OGRE Putin bros!

"THE HAGUE, March 16 (Reuters) - The United Nations' top court for disputes between states ordered Russia on Wednesday to immediately halt its military operations in Ukraine, saying it was "profoundly concerned" by Moscow's use of force."

...

"The Russian Federation shall immediately suspend the military operations that it commenced on Feb 24, 2022 on the territory of Ukraine," the ICJ judges said in a 13-2 decision."

They added that Russia must also ensure that other forces under its control or supported by Moscow should not continue the military operation.

Ukraine filed its case at the ICJ shortly after Russia's invasion began on Feb. 24, saying that Moscow's stated justification, that it was acting to prevent a genocide in eastern Ukraine, was unfounded.

In addition to disputing the grounds for the invasion, Kyiv also asked for emergency "provisional" measures against Russia to halt the violence before the case was heard in full. Those measures were granted on Wednesday."

...

GENOCIDE

"During hearings earlier this month, Ukraine said there was no threat of genocide in eastern Ukraine, and that the U.N.'s 1948 Genocide Convention, which both countries have signed, does not allow an invasion to prevent one.

Ukrainian government forces have been battling Russia-backed separatists in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine since 2014. Kyiv and its Western allies reject Moscow's claims of any genocide being perpetrated against Russian speakers there."

Yeah I know he's a boog since that's what it says in the article about him. His decision to volunteer starts making very obvious sense with that in mind

No, the chief main reason for US entry into WWII was still Pearl Harbor. When USA declared war on Japan, Germany also declared war on the US. And the reasons why Japan bombed US were many, but main reason was because US embargoed Japan over their invasion of China. And Japan thought they needed to defeat USA if they wanted to safely control the resources of the Pacific

As for WWI, its actually a bit complicated than that. But its mainly the result of British propaganda (very excellent play by play, mind you) and Germany's unrestricted submarine warfare making US anxious. Then the Zimmerman thing happened...

Am I the only one who feels the reason the U.S. media has gone into overdrive to turn Russia into the new Nazis is because they feel it is the only way to redeem themselves from their own Russiagate and to kind of put Trump and everyone who voted against Biden into the same camp?
They will definitely be using this as a method of discrediting people as "pro-russian" so that people will ignore their input on future attempts to make russia a scapegoat.

e.g. "Senator XYZ did not support Ukraine during the war. They therefore have russian interests so of course they would say russia didn't do XYZ!"
