this would have been true in the ww2 and cold war days but not today. the american military in current year has such an enormous lead in equipment, technology, funding and logistics, no force on the planet can really challenge it in a conventional war.
the firepower disparity is pretty retarded. I think the USN's firepower is more than the rest of the world's combined a few times over. China has a lot of ships but they're still a decade or two away from having an operational carrier fleet (right now mostly using their carriers to train officers and build institutional knowledge).

I wouldn't really want to fight a land war with Russia though.

The base of the surviving Azov defenders of Mariupol, the Mariupol Drama Theatre, has been destroyed.

Shame. It was a nice building.
So what does this make? The fourth or fifth Azov HQ demolished? Honestly sounds like the Russians are just destroying buildings and then labelling them Azov HQs. Can't wait for the Azov Hospital with the Azov maternity ward to be demolished

that's the part proponents of "free" social services don't talk about.
It's the question of what you value more: knowing that the state won't shirk away from its' duties when you're down or having more shit but essentially being left on your own.

Either approach has its' positive and negative sides.

Not so sure we could defeat Russia.
We could in a conventional sense due to having more advanced fighters and navy. However! The losses to a volunteer army would be significant enough to get the population to not support the war.* I find it doubtful that said volunteer army can be converted into a draftee army without Private Bubba fragging Lieutenant Shaniqua while Russian AA take out the odd F-35 now and again.

The US military is like the Protoss; powerful individually, but can't take as many losses without it becoming politically inconvenient. Alleged former special forces redditors found that out the hard way. Which is also why sending arms is the only acceptable political action for this administration to take. They know the loss of a single F-35 enforcing a no-fly zone would sever popular opinion in two different directions completely and no amount of propaganda is going to browbeat people who say "no."

*The casus belli has to be incredibly good to keep demoralization from happening, but even good casus belli like 9/11 petered out with the Iraq war.

It was still a retarded move on his part, different world view aside. He got no guarantees of Japanese assistance against the soviets, and now instead of just having America send equipment, he had to deal with them sending even more fucking equipment, as well as soldiers to go with it.

Perhaps. It wasn't wholly unreasonable though.

Any substantial American military contributions to the war would take time to manifest. And if starting unrestricted sub warfare early could tip the scales against the USSR, there would be no feasible naval invasion of Europe.

With the Soviet Union knocked out, the western powers would eventually agree to end the war, let Germany keep it's eastern lebensraum, against letting go of France and the other occupied western states.

Russian artillery is way ahead of you.
Also, frontline is long, what’s unbelievable about having multiple bases of operation and coordination centres? And when one gets destroyed the remaining forces would be making a new base.

from a detached and rational outsiders perspective it's very easy to say "lol dont be so hysterical and over the top with your propaganda"
but for the people who make the propaganda, it's a completely different situation. it's their own country being torn to pieces around them, their friends and families being driven from their homes or outright killed, their future as a nation itself threatened by a ruthless foreign enemy - the same enemy that has chained and subjugated them for hundreds of years in the past, the same enemy that genocided millions of them in the 1930s, they barely had 30 years of independence and already that same ancient foe is coming back to enslave and massacre them once again.

so of course now every ukrainian in the cuntry is in a constant state of extreme panic and existential terror, and that reflects on the propaganda they put out as well. this is also how you end up with stuff like this TV talking head pulling out the eichmann quotes and calling for annihilation of russia - his family, friends, people are being killed by russians on a daily basis, russian forces are closing in all around him, of course he's gonna go into full total war mode now.
if i were asking for help, I wouldn't brag about how many kids i eat for breakfast and how many more will be molested once my buddies lend me the Joe Pedo

I can't rule out the Ukrainians throwing the volunteers under the bus and letting them die. These are Redditors. At best a couple of Iraq and Afghanistan vets who think that blowing up hajis was the same thing as fighting a mechanized army. They don't know the area. They don't speak Ukrainian or Russian. They're dead weight. They're not like the battle-hardened Syrians who had to fight in Aleppo and Homs without the kind of air support that the USAF and USN can bring. The western volunteers are larpers and potential sources of friendly fire.
Battle hardened vets are always helpful, having a squad of U.S. Marine vets with experience in urban combat would be good for any defensive forces, you don't need to train these guys, just guide them. These are probably welcome, and there are some vets from Special Forces operating in Ukraine already, there isn't much floating around about them precisely because they limit their digital footprint to the strictly necessary. Now, the volunteer retards who want to fight despite having no experience outside of a range? These are hindering the effort, nobody wants a Rambo wannabe giving their location away for some tiktoks lol!

If people feel like volunteering, and they lack combat experience, all they need to do is volunteer for humanitarian efforts. Delivering supplies to the frontlines, keeping civilians fed and clothed, are all efforts that are needed. But most of these guys who want to magdump shit and get medals without putting in an effort are too egotistical to do that and too stupid to help in combat, so they are literally useless outside of being meat shields!

The International Court of Justice should be rename to the Third World Shithole Court of Justice.

Only time that I have seen people dragged there were like African genocidal maniacs or Balkan genocidal maniacs.

The Hague has less enforcement power than the President of Afghanistan during the time America was running that sandpit.
Well, no shit. To enforce, you need force, good luck enforcing shit on autocracies like Russia and China. The likes of Putin will only ever see a jail cell in The Hague if they get couped at home beforehand!

What did I miss?

They should be reverse-engineering this shit instead of shooting it at dead tanks

LOL that fat fuck fell for the glownigger boogaloo honeypot and now he fell for this shit too

This is why murrica is lost
The problem isn't figuring out how an NLAW works. The problem is being able to afford to build a lot off them, which Russia has no real solution for.

Mariupol will fall either Friday or over the weekend. It's also worth noting that any Russian forces in Mariupol won't be quickly redeployed to another front line area after it's secured. Sustained urban combat like what we've seen in Mariupol is especially grueling and those forces will be given around a week of rest, then again this is Russia and this operation isn't going well for them, so it will probably only be a few days tops.
