Pretty much this. Try bringing up the 2014 coup and how "our very own Ukrainian-American" Victoria Nuland basically handpicked our guy to take over Ukraine before the coup even started. Then after the coup, a pro-US government is installed and the Constitution is rewritten in order to immediately put the threat of NATO expansion on Russia's doorstep.

So far I'd say its been working out pretty well for us(America) We'll see what the peace ends up looking like but even if Ukraine agrees to most Russian demands America comes out of this in a stronger position. "Neutrality" can look like a lot of different things in practice, as can "Being a demilitarized country" just ask Japan.

Russia's likable to me only because the other side is so unimaginably deplorable. As bad as Putin is, I genuinely think he's not as terrible as some of NATO's leaders. I mean, unless you're Satan it's hard to be worse than a lot of them, but still, at least by some margin Putin's got moral superiority.
