I have some worries some videos that come out of Ukraine. There have been several videos posted in the last couple of days that show Russian armor going into villages and towns two at a time, no IFV support and no infantry support. Of course these end just about as well as you may expect
From two days ago:

From today: Big warning, this is a hell of a gruesome video

Anyone who says war is finished is a delusional moron. War will never, ever be finished until all humans are dead, and then they'd just be fought by whatever species takes our place. People love to say war is done, but they've been consistently wrong generation after generation.
They really have been saying it forever. I can’t remember his name but some guy wrote a book about how wars were a thing of the past because countries were too financially interconnected a month or two before the start of World War One.

Well guys, that's it, war is over. Theres too many financial dependencies, and we can just gaslight the population with fake media anyway, so theres no more reason for rational countries to go to war. On a related note, what are we going to do with all those pesky nuclear weapons? Theyre virtually worthless now that war is over. Well, we'd be happy to buy them from you (for a steep discount of course, since we know theyre worthless in the post-war era). Dont worry, if something were to pop off, which it wont--cant--we'll protect you.

It stems from wishful thinking. Because hey, a world without war sounds pretty damn nice, especially as we've developed more and more efficient killing machines. But at the end of the day it's just that, wishful thinking. I'm sure if we went back far enough, we could find some guy going off about how the Pax Romana means major wars are done.

i know youre trying to have fun but youre also really angry i can tell

keep rating me with dislikes if it makes you feel better but its like someone screaming in a fishtank
Null took away all the negative stickers, and you people are still whining about stickers.

If you don't like people disagreeing with you, don't walk into a thread to argue and start slapfights. And then to turn around complain about it? Nah, you don't get it both ways.

I mean, I think the bigger takeaway is the use of media manipulation over the surveillance.
Maybe it's just cause the current surveillance state is already far worse than in 1984. You can just go outside and they're essentially blind.
The fight against propaganda seemed to be more winnable up until this conflict. We're now getting people tricking themselves into thinking the Ukraine is winning somehow.

I think it's amazing that people realize that the government/intelligence community was lying to us about Afghanistan for TWENTY YEARS - they kept saying "things are going well, victory is around the corner, just give us more money, etc."

and then the Taliban make a COMPLETE victory.

And then this war starts us and 90% of Americans are like: "Media and Govt says Ukraine is winning, Russia is bad, and I believe it."

Man remember when we were giving weapons to Saddam, then next minute we're stringing him up. Times are wild.

He didn't actually mean there would be peace. Wars would just become more one-sided, like NATO bombing Yugoslavia, Desert Storm, Iraq, and Ukraine 2014.

Listen pal, when I come onto the subsection of a website dedicated to discussing contentious topics, I damn well expect that my retarded ramblings be treated with respect. If I wanted people to be able to downvote me, I’d be on reddit good sir!

Also, is there an official number on the volcel brigades casualties?

I still don't buy that theory at the end of the day. Sooner or later one of the big players has to make a move, or a new player will come along to replace one of the existing ones. Eventually it will have to be done by force. That and the big players are drifting further and further away ideologically. I'd say there's more incentive for a big war now than there was 20 or 30 years ago tbh.

Isn't it that Tom Friedman?
No, Tom was the guy who said no two countries with a McDonalds went to war, and then it happened later on.

Edit: The Wikipedia already lists Russia vs. Ukraine as a counter example to his McDonalds theory, which is funny because the reason I was looking it up was because from what I remember McDonalds is always banned or pulled out when war starts, as is the case in Russia.

Which is starting to happen now. US was the main uncontested super power after the USSR fell and what did we do with it? Regimes change, human rights violation in other countries we occupied, our corporations treating the third world like shit and for a quick buck.

America lost alot good will and now the chickens are coming home to roast.
