The Russians, Chechens and pro-Russian separatists have been constantly shelling the city every 30 minutes day and night and almost every manmade structure in the entire city has been so far destroyed. They have no electricity, water or food, people are getting sick from the Cold weather, children have been reported dying from dehydration, babies and pregnant women have been killed in indiscriminate shellings, people have been fighting each other for food and much more. The Russians have cut off humanitarian aid and escape routes. Mass graves have been dug for civilians who have died, with the bodies buried in trenches with no funeral or anything. The numbers are saying anywhere between 2,000 - 20,000 Ukrainian civilians have died and 150 Russian soldiers have been killed, including more than 5 out of the 12 Russian commanders who have been killed in the line of duty during the War in Ukraine (most recently Oleg Mityaev).
Iif I had a ruble for every person that said in the megathread that Russia wouldn't level cities and infrastructure, and that they weren't like the evil uncaring American empire, I would have a lot of rubles equivalent to about half a penny.

This is going to be a very underrated post.

The reason for the buttfucking of Libya was Gaddafi planning to go off USD and take half of North Africa with him. Saddam also had designs on starting a petro-dollar. It is the one thing the USA will never accept and always react incredibly harshly to.

Russia insisting on Germany paying that gas bill in anything other than USD would be as incendiary to the USA as a no-fly zone would be to the Russians.

One can't help but wonder what happens to these Azov guys once the war is over. They seem like a troublesome bunch to keep around in peacetime
Let's see how many are left once the war ends. My understanding is that the Russians are killing them on sight.

...have they never heard of Grozny?

Well you see, Russia did not want to preserve the infrastructure of Chechnya, a part of their country that they would control later, but now they have an interest in preserving the infrastructure of Ukraine, which is not (yet) a part of their country (and which they might have to control later), because shut up

that depends on how fast the peace is made. if ukraine capitulates this week, azov will take over the ukrainian government in a year. if it takes longer, azov will not be around.
