Whatever happened to the warning from the jannies that slapfights would get you threadbanned, as it seems like this thread is 50% slapfighting at this point.

Was it an empty threat? Did they give up on moderating this shitshow of a thread? Did they overdose on hotpockets and end up in a food coma? Did the Ghost of Kiev bomb their place of work (their mom's basement)? Only time will tell...

The mod retired.

If the globohomo unironically wants this, it's suicidal, insane, or unimaginably stupid.
You forgot "arrogant". Globohomo is stuck in a doom loop of Russell Greer logic, where it cannot fathom being told "no". All of its problems are self-inflicted, the result of its own hubris.

When it meets any defiance, it chimps out. When something doesn't go their way or runs afoul of their Protagonist Syndrome, it's because the other guys just hate Democracy™️ and are just so EVULLL.

He has been really gentle with it. I think his intention was to do the rational thing and partition the country leaving leaving Kiev in the West to themselves but forcing them to restart the water supplies to Crimea and swear neutrality.
But, he got WEFed. Zelenaky is willing to irrationally sacrifice everything.
At this point Vlad should flatten Kiev before they get all the new toys, especially anti aircraft and jets from the west knowing that leaving anything in the west means it'll become a heavily armed hostile state.
If he's gonna get charged with "war crimes" for Azov blowing up their own civilians he might as well do the war crimes and wrap this up.
How?

What makes you think Russia has the capability to get serious or whatever?

Their only successes in the last two weeks have been besieging Mariupol and attacking that nuke power plant with too many consonants in its name next to each other that shouldn't be

They haven't advanced at Kiev, or Kharkov, they've gotten pushed back from Melitopol (if it doesn't fall, Odessa doesn't fall), they've been unable to prevent Ukraine from resupplying or raising new soldiers, they haven't busted up Ukrainian command and control, or prevented Ukraine from moving men and supplies to the fighting fronts, they haven't achieved air supremacy or even superiority, the link-up of north and south that is going to cut off Ukraine's main army in the east keeps getting talked about but doesn't happen, they haven't broken Ukrainian morale...

If only Putler would get serious sounds like some serious cope. Maybe they could break the lines by massing overwhelming force, and get r done. With horrendous casualties in men and equipment. Maybe. They appear to not have the supplies sufficient to carry out major offensives for the troops already there, they gonna find the goods to send another 150,000 men or whatever?

It's a war of attrition and time, can Russia wear down the Nazi Kikes or can Western supplies keep the Nazi Kikes' heads above water until Russia is exhausted

That's bullshit and you know it. The entire thread fucking tosses around false flags around like it was a gay pride parade and how every single thing said by Ukraine is a lie while cheering on Russia every time they say fucking boo. And every post that is even moderately anti-Russia propaganda gets the same chucklefucks up in arms every goddamn time.

And poor beleaguered Russia, who always finds an excuse to invade one of its direct neighbors because they feel scared, not due to an actual threat, always a perceived one.

And Mearshimer is a realist, I can respect that. But he is a realist to a fault, and unapologetically so. His blind spots are always that Nations are run by people, who act on specific beliefs in addition to the power struggles. He also has a massive hard on for confrontation with China, not bat in and of itself but it tends to cause myopia in his view of other threats around the world. Look, I'm not on the neoliberal bandwagon either, far from it. The fuckknuckles in a lot of the west could use a bit of realism to cut the cocaine of free trade will fix the world. But Mearshimer believes that no matter what, that is the only shit that matters, especially since every nation always sees itself as insecure. Power is still king in IR, but how and why that power is used is based on the nature of the country and what its morals real and most importantly, perceived are.

Then there are other questions such as how much is a nation willing to follow the rules of the road, how far are they willing to bend those rules, and do they have enough allies to back their play? That's more than a strict power formulation.

But arguing IR schools of thought is as pointless as arguing philosophy. They're the same as the assholes working at Starbucks with the single most useless degree of all time, except IR theories only get tested when a fuckton of people end up dead.
I bet you believe the Ghost of Kiev is totes real.

I"m assured by Gab and Patriots.lost that the right can rise up and 2A take the country any time they want.
But why bother. WE'RE WINNING THE MEME WAR.

And the trucker convoy clearly has DC terrified. Driving around in circles bankrupting themselves for fuel

The right wing has a lot of lazy blowhards and this topic has been covered better by folks like the @The Ugly One but overall, the only solution for now is more civic participation at this point at local and state politics.

Speaking of right wing and Putin, his reason for providing direct or indirect help to many right wing groups is his way of keeping them weak or lukewarm towards Russia and dependent on them.

It doesn't help the Western World that they are ruled by neoliberals and their controlled opposition pets, who believe in a suicidal ideological cult that is destroying their own lands.

Russia most likely is funding some nationalist groups just to keep their enemies in turmoil is how they would see it. I don't think many folks know in the west that Russia has no 2A rights at all so that kind of gives it away that they are just in it to help anyone who keeps Russian hostility low or that they believe that maybe by supporting 2A groups indirectly, that it could destroy the west in their view.

Ukrainian Forces Destroy Russian Armored Column Іn Kyiv Region
Good tactic of putting mines behind an enemy column and then pushing them back into a spot they figured was clear.
Something about this video seems fake to me, or at least partly staged in some way. There's been a few videos now of Ukrainian troops supposedly right next to active battlefields calmly recording themselves walking around in the open talking about how they're beating Russia after days of prolonged fighting, all of them looking fresh and groomed, and the videos themselves are getting filmed with HD cameras and getting edited with cuts and ADR. I dunno, it just feels extremely polished and everyone looks extremely calm and like they've not actually been fighting nor are they near any fighting. The videos I've seen before of raw combat zones with actual soldiers, even with professional journalism going on like Afghanistan, have soldiers looking dirty, sweating, breathing hard, laying in cover, and there's screaming and constant gunfire in the background, and that's not even in a conventional war. This is supposed to be two modern armies fighting intensely while every Ukrainian military video looks like it was shot by an indie filmmaker.

Does this spell the end for Russia?

A month is pretty important timewise. In the first month of every German assault in WW2 they had captured or nearly captured all their objectives. The times where it didn't, in Russia and North Africa, was the moments where the German offensive got bogged down and repulsed.
Russia can still turn things around, but the Russians can't afford for this to turn into a year long quagmire
That is one war. The Battle of Cuito Cuanavale took seven months, the war itself dragged on for several years. That what's going to happen here, not two but two, three or more other forces getting involved and dragging it out. It's the nature of proxy wars, which this is turning into.

The original janny that made this thread has retired like 2 or 3 days ago, so who knows, who is the new guy tasked with this thread.

I wouldn't put it past the globohomo to think something this retarded but nuclear war will absolutely destroy the globohomo and has a good chance of wiping out nearly all life on earth (e.g. Nuclear Winter). I've pointed this out previously but Nuclear HEMP strikes will kill the Internet, the New York Stock Exchange, and wipe out everyone's bank accounts/loans. This isn't a major consideration in our Mutually Assured Destruction combat doctrine because that doctrine was developed in the 1970s. Now everything is digitized and needs to remain digitized to maintain the globohomo ideal dystopia (e.g. you'll own nothing and be happy).

If the globohomo unironically wants this, it's suicidal, insane, or unimaginably stupid. I know what I'm saying isn't common knowledge in this thread but it is absolutely common knowledge in certain STEM circles and Washington DC. You only need about a dozen HEMP strikes to wipe out nearly every power grid on earth, as well as anything connected to it - which means the Internet too.

The Wikipedia article is reincluded for those who haven't seen it yet:
Nuclear EMP isn't considered much of a threat anymore, critical infrastructure was hardened against it in the 2000s. Now if the sun gave out a major shart pointed right at earth is another story, but man made EMPs from nuclear bomb explosions allegedly aren't strong enough to wipe out critical electronics anymore (at least in North America and Europe)

Not that hard to believe. Its just some Uki soldiers showing to a press a site of a recent battle. Its very common in modern war, pretty sure US did it all the time in places like Vietnam when its safe enough. The point of how they're able to record in safety while being next to battle can be rationalized that the Russian is retreating from that position. Also everyone can have and use HD cameras now, even you phone has it unless you live under a rock or something. Editing can be done once the crew returned behind the line as well. If anything, the hint of smug pride and bragging the Ukrainian soldiers showed is big sign this video is not faked

I think people act like Russia should've occupied the country in a week and if they didn't that means they're collapsing. Again, Desert Storm - a war against a nation weaker and (I think) smaller than 2022 Ukraine - took nearly two months to be over, and that was with nearly full military force from nearly every NATO power all at once, and it had several military operations for several months before it as prep.
