Jfc what's with everyone going off about adding people to their ignore list? Accept other opinions exist and fucking deal with it. We're here to sperg about war, not each other.

That will show you!

That's half the entertainment in this thread. Some of those emotional shitposts have kept me laughing for hours.
They were entertaining for a while, but all of the shit about Disheveled Human and that one Ukrainian who spammed gay porn got boring eventually, and they would just keep finding new people to take their bait as they were cycled in. I assume they've been threadbanned at this point since I'm not seeing anyone reply to them.

That's a big if from what's been happening so far, and even if Russia manages to occupy Ukraine they shown their hand in a few ways,
A). Their conventional army is a bit of a paper tiger, or at least massively overestimated, despite supposedly spending the 2nd most of any country on it.
B.) Their military is just as corrupt as their government is. With at least a third to a half the money that was supposed to improve the military probably going into someone's pocket.
C.) Their Generals in combat have the lifespan of a Lemming
D.) They're about to become Xi's bitch
You don't even have to mention the sanctions to realise how bad Putin's situation is. Pretty funny ngl.

I thought Russia wrecked all their air assets in the first couple days via airstrikes and cruise missiles.

But based on the Russian performance so far, I shouldn't be surprised that they didn't get them all...
It took America at least a week of substantial bombing to grind Iraq's anti-air and airforce assets to dust in Desert Storm, and that was with the plethora of American guided missiles and vastly superior aircraft. (Granted, Iraq was also bigger and ostensibly had a very extensive AA setup) Given that the Russian only did like a day of missile striking and then sent in their conscripts immediately, it's not as surprising as one might think.

All of the above points apply even more heavily to the american military but it's a hundred times worse because unlike russian generals, US ones love satan and a lot of them are all part of gay satan sex cults.

so kind of like people developed interceptors and air superiority fighters specifically to shoot down enemy planes?
i wonder how long it will take until someone actually fields an interceptor drone and uses it to shoot down enemy predators or bayraktars.
Pretty much. Like I said, I think they already have them. There just hasn't been a conflict that justified using them yet.

They'll probably have some sort of onboard AI, especially for targeting, so a lot of the "Remote control jamming" issues wouldn't be as big of an issue.

The only one that pissed me off was the loli spammer. I'd fortunately managed to avoid seeing any in my life...until then...

Yeah, having a bit of a back and forth and trying to understand each other is pretty enjoyable. Some folks who just shitpost are pretty fun too. @hooboy is probably one of my favorite posters, he's just having fun. Sometimes we have people posting image dumps or some news articles and thsoe are great too.

But then you have some people that are just here to shit things up by being pricks, those folks really add nothing. Far be it from me to call any of those people out though, i'm just some fucking idiot trying to understand this shit as best I can.

Landing attack makes no sense when they can just blockade from the sea while lobbing the occasional cruise missile at enemy installations, and wait for the ground forces to catch up and surround the city on land.

It really is insane if you are able to rub two braincells together. Oh sure. The Russians will just throw human waves of men into the teeth of organized defenses. It's the sort of fan-fiction that lazy Western observers who got brought up on bad WW2 history written by Wehrmacht Generals and who watched "Enemy at the Gates" too often actually believe in.

In Ukraine, it's lazy fan-fiction meant to prop up the morale of Neo-Nazis. Which, surprise, is why AZOV is peddling it. And there is a cunning reason.

War for most soldiers and conscripts is just sitting around waiting wondering what's going on, So if you're a country like Ukraine who has mass mobilized a modern day Volksturm to defend the Fatherland, what better way to keep them occupied than by having them dig ditches and fill sandbags and do a bunch of make-work turning Odessa's tourist beaches into some "Saving Private Ivan" Normandy landing set?

Odessa will be invaded by an amphibious landing soon! Keep digging. Dig. Dig!

It's make work. It's make work to keep their ash-and-trash units left to garrison the city busy and not thinking. Meanwhile, Russian forces are making headway to the north and will no doubt have Odessa surrounded in a week or two. If the war lasts that long. If that's even the goal of the Kremlin to begin with. Because we don't know the Kremlin's war aims.

And if you do have an amphibious landing, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened on a suitable beach West of Odessa to cut off a vital roadway or help link up with a northern flanking force. Or the landing will happen East. Who knows!

Nooo, @Spicey McHaggis is a goodboi who diddu nuttin!

In something more thread relevant (just to not piss off other readers), the BBC is still being dumb repeating themselves (no new info). Something about Z-man talking to German leaders to no avail (what is new?). Nothing is being announced, so for now we fuff about and shitpost as god intended…

So much to unpack here, but I firmly believe that the reason most Americans believe that Putin is a "bad man" is because of two decades or more of pretty much lies and "actual fake news," such as:

- The Skripal poisoning (never happened)
- That Russia bombed a civilian airliner over Ukraine (never happened)
- That Putin helped Syrian President Assad gas his own people (he didn't help and Assad did not "gas his own people)
- That Putin put a bounty on U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan (never happened)

Those are just some examples of the Deep State (CIA) planted stories in the main stream media that people did question vociferously, but their voices were censored, and when enough reporters did prove that such and such never happened, it was never retracted, and the public went on believing the initial story.

In such respects it is very similar to what happened in Kenosha (the police NEVER "shot an unarmed black man for no reason other than racism) and Kyle Rittenhouse NEVER "took his AR-15 to go hunting for and shooting three black men because racism.

Yet to this day, there are millions of people who believed the initial lies (also known as fake news) and really looking at the entire Russia/Ukraine conflict through that lens.

That is a lot of deprogramming that probably will not happen soon, because censorship.

Oh yeah one more very important thing: Putin did not "invade and annex Crimea." Crimea separated itself from the illegitimate regime in Kiev, then the people had a referendum and freely chose to become a part of Russia.

I'd see that for suicide weapons (just going right for where the last known position was) but not for a vehicle that deploys guided missiles and bombs itself, just slinging shit at heat signatures is a recipe for disaster. I suppose it depends on how good the artificial intelligence was as far as target identification goes, but I don't think anybody's made the leap to putting fully autonomous weapons systems in the field yet.
I think the simplest method to dealing with theoretical jamming is putting a good old fashioned anti-radiation missile on one of those hardpoints.

you don't think this current war would justify using them?

actually now that i think about it, the russians aren't even using drones in this war, right? so maybe there's simply no reason to deploy the shiny new anti drone toys for now

Any kind of wargame needs to have people asking what the rules are. It's similar to hearing about "X percent of people believe this based on polling" and not assuming it's chickenshit because the questions were probably loaded. Like when Romanian MiG-21 pilots were able to kill USAF F-16s in the early 2010s because the MiGs had been updated with helmet tracking- but they didn't emphasize that the combat started within visual range. The F-16s used had yet to be updated with JHMCS and were not equipped with AIM-9xs, so the MiGs had a chance. In a real engagement, the MiG-21s would've been blown out of the sky by AIM-120s. But the papers were like "OMG 60 YEAR OLD MIG-21 BEATS LATEST F-16 MODEL!"
Was it written by those reformist asshats who think dogfighting is still king and missiles and radar are a spook

@ everyone sperging about drones and AA fails.

If modern defense systems can track mortar grenades and incoming missiles to shoot down, they can also shoot down drones lol.
There will just be more guns and less rockets. OTOH I don't see why rockets can't shoot down drones, the Israelis do it too (not drones, but small objects).
Unless drones develop some kind of UFO like evasion algorithm, I don't see the need for interceptor drones (although these would be useful against full size jets I think, payload matters).

Edit: I would guess the range of those AA guns need to get a bit larger, the missile range on those drones is apparently 8km

If people are really doing shit that glows or could get the site in real trouble, just report them and move on. Otherwise the ignore button is your friend. Or just call them a retard. It's really up to you.
