Because at this point we're all disillusioned with politicians. He was on the Pandora Papers. Supposedly has a 35 million dollar mansion in Miami.
The little respect he could gather for refusing to leave is blown away due to his own rhetoric. He's essentially trying to guilt NATO into supporting him.
It's easy to see him as a good guy through the eyes of normies and that also sort of sets off the contrarian instinct.
If he decided to be a puppet no more and go down with the ship, respect. Don't fucking make me die in a nuclear war, though.

But the question is, what the fuck else is he supposed to do? With zero aid they are more fucked than they already are. He's an easter europle pol, they are all corrupt. For an eastern Europe pol, he comes off as less of an old man douchebag as the average image normies have in their head of one.

Reason I give zero shits about him asking for assistance is again, what the fuck else is he going to do. He surrenders, he's probably dead or in a gulag, and people did underestimate how hard Ukraine would fight this shit, even if it is a losing battle. Don't get the make you die in a nuclear war part, TBH. And that is the thing, even if every shred of the anti Ukraine propaganda was true, it doesn't justify and invasion, and that means if shit goes south, you could blame us for getting involved, you could blame Putin for being Putin... don't see Zelinsky as a culpable one.

Answering the previous question though, people like the little guy, which Ukraine is going to be compared to Russia, and Ukraine hasn't spent the last couple of decades actively trying to piss off everyone else.

that wouldve needed to happen in 2014, maybe even before that when nato started expanding eastward. theres a lot of things the west couldve done, like accommodating russia into the west after the ussr fell rather than teabagging the russians so hard that they lose all faith in international institutions and fall back into the arms of assertive strongmen

personally i'm reserving judgement on zelensky until after the war
right now we don't have enough information, can't tell who is telling the truth, who is lying, what is really happening.
if he does indeed go down with the ship and chooses death before dishonor, he'll be one of the most respected national leader europe has seen since the second world war. if he somehow manages to pull through and ukraine survives the war, he'll be a legit hero and might be elevated to a modern 'father of the nature' figure like tudjman is in some circles in croatia.
but if he turns coward and flees the country, or cucks out in some other way, then not so much.

let me explain this in very simple terms:

I gotta be honest this whole "you only care now because theyre not brown!" completely misses the mark. Its not even in the general direction of the mark. The reason people care isnt because Ukranians are white and everyone is racist. The reason mouthbreathing normies care about Ukraine and not Palestine is because the media puts it in front of them. People arent ignoring Yemen because they hate brown people. In order to ignore Yemen, you have to first be told about Yemen, which is something that will literally never happen in US media, because the media is in bed with the government and is carrying water for Saudi Arabia and Israel.

The problem here is not racism. The problem is that most people dont realize that their trusted source of information is a glorified propaganda outlet. They dont realize that everyone who talks about Palestine and Yemen in any incisive way has been banned from youtube and twitter specifically to slow the spread of awareness about these issues. They dont seek out alternative media, and so they dont know what is happening. And then when , for cynical reasons, the American media actually decides to talk about a conflict, most viewers have absolutely no idea how to contextualize it because the timeslot where the news should have been talking about these things was dedicated to a squirrel riding waterskis.

All satellites have radiation hardened chips. They're hideously out of date because the process apparently takes years. Not sure if it would help with regular emp. It may also be a moot issue, you have to detonate a nuke pretty high up for good emp coverage, so I'd imagine a few may get blown up by that.

As for your second question, it probably depends on the country. If somewhere in Africa got nuked, probably no. Europe is a different story, especially because of how the radiation would spread to other countries. I'd say it's a maybe there.
