If I had a magic wand and could just ignore how currently advanced our biology and medical technology are (SPOILER: you can't just swap genitals out like lego pieces, dumbass!) then yes I'd invent everything that's needed for an actual gender change that isn't glorified genital mutilation. But I live in reality, where you can't do that, and there's no telling when you would be able to do that.

They do. Schuyler has personally helped in the forced-acceptance of Lia. She acted as his media handler/babysitter. From the Sports Illustrated puff piece:

They'll face severe consequences if they boycott. Anywhere from being benched for the season or being removed from the team to being strongly encouraged to pursue their academic journey at a different institution/expulsion and not being able to find another school to accept them. And probably be made into The Enemy in their social circles, if not for the entire campus. Speaking out may result in lawsuits.

JK Rowling can afford to ignore the shit storm, but Thomas could end up ruining these women's lives because they're nobody college students.

It's a really bad situation, but I also feel like there has to be a stand taken eventually. If girls' sports are on the line, it is going to affect more than this particular set of girls, and the next group will be in no better position unless someone speaks up (and ideally with a support system behind them, even if their classmates aren't it). Hopefully the Title IX lawsuit just filed on their behalf will move the needle enough to give these girls courage. It's evil that they can get sued for defending what Title IX assured them, and the courts are going to have to decide right now if it's sex or gender that matters in sports.

There is a crazy guy in Outlast Whistleblower who wants to cut off the protagonists penis, with the goal of making him his wife and having kids with him. The scene is witnessed from first person and is super unsettling. Don't know if there were people crying transphobia over it, but knowing the Internet there probably were a few getting pissy about it.
