What's that one track discipline where you can use track stands as a strat?
A track stand is something you can do in match sprinting to hooefully outbalance your opponent and force them to go in front. It is something that is hardly see these days as somw years ago a time limit was put on track stands(30secs i think) and unless a track stand is taking place the riders must move at a walking pace.
If you watch the sprints you will see officials walking on the inside, as soon as the riders start, and you cant go slower than them unless hou are going to do a stand. Back in olden times the track stands could go on for a very long time and it was a bit stupid, tbh. The gears are alot bigger now and you can get really caught out if you get the stand, or timing of it, wrong.
These days sprinting is often quite quick, from the off, with the riders being stronger and having more endurance so nobody fucks about doing stands anymore. You might see an underdog do it to try and force an opponent to the front so you get a draft but chances are the stronger rider will end up just riding away to a win.
Glad to see the interwebs lighting up over Liar Thomas. Rhys was hardly noticed in comparison due to swimming being way more mainstream and it is young people affected, not masters.
