Like I said, they'd do it with Mexican Cartels like MS-13. Cartels already have significant land-holdings in the desert of California where they grow marijuana farms. From there, they can expand into Nevada and flank Arizona. Given how fractured the US is with immigration in general, National Guard (assuming they're not out of the country on rotation) are the only forces in play due to how the US spreads out its national forces everywhere else. The Dems in particular would be paralyzed--or complicit--because La Raza activists will run interference like BLM did for mostly peaceful rioters.

More importantly, using Cartels provide plausible deniability. It's just unrelated criminal violence, not an invasion.

Which is why an invasion from a state that doesn't border it will not work. The air force and navy are the strongest military assets the US has in comparison. The USA currently lacks the industrial capacity to make electric motors, PCBs, various other electronic components, and a variety of plastics. It's taken thirty years for China to build all this up as we tore it down, and we're essentially starting at zero to rebuild. Not only that, but we'd need a lot of pie-in-the-sky legal changes to even be allowed to bring much of that industry back. If we were to cut off China all at once, a more plausible path would be industry moving to India. But of course, India isn't joining our trade war, either, so I guess we'd be cutting them off, too.

Cartels have to be paid first by the Chinese government if they're going to attack. Right now, Cartels want to run black market businesses in the US, so antagonizing the US isn't a priority for them. I'll admit that I didn't think Russia would go into Ukraine. It seemed like some phony thing the Biden White House could talk about so they could look steely, resolute and effective when it didn't happen. Big Pushups Biden bested Putler with manly brinkmanship. It sounded like some desperate scheme by a floundering administration willing to act like clowns to claim a "win" and then those Russian sonsabitches actually did it!

I think Russia is being slow and deliberate to minimize civilian casualties and infrastructure damage and wants at least the Donbass, reassurances that they will keep Crimea, a limited Ukrainian military and promises in writing to not join the EU and NATO. The Ukraine can agree to partitioning and defanging the easy way right now or wait another few months for Russia to do it the hard way. That is the diplomatic solution but it seems like DC isn't accepting partitioning and defanging and is urging Ukraine to keep fighting and keeps giving them money and military hardware.

All of this stuff about the ferocious patriots of Ukraine bravely staring down the Russian bear and actually beating it sounds very much like that baloney about Afghanistan's puppet government holding out for at least 6 months when they didn't even last 6 days against the Taliban.
