Sad that she still feels the need to cushion her statement with support of Thomas. Yes, Gyorgy, it IS a particular athlete’s fault. The NCAA has a hand in this too, but Thomas knows exactly what he’s doing; sure, the NCAA has allowed him to compete, but they aren’t forcing Thomas to get in the pool. He knows that what he’s doing is unethical at best and downright fucked up and misogynistic at worst, and yet he continues to do it.
Reka Gyorgy deserves better. ALL female athletes deserve better.
Seeing other’s accomplishments brushed over in favor of covering this troon is just sad. For my non swimmers out there, going sub 48 seconds in the 100 backstroke is absolutely insane and I honestly doubt we’ll ever see any woman go below that. It’s some Michael Phelps level shit. But of course, if the NCAA, Olympic Committee and ISL continue to permit this shit then we’ll see plenty of “ladies” go well below that.
