General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

In the Chicken's Members stream. I'll update this message when the she says something relevant. She'll be discussing most of this tomorrow:

- Until she was on stage she was worried that everyone would think her dance and 3D would look like shit. Very happy about the positive reception.
From NA to me she has the best model followed by Ina.

Thought about this just now:
Since Rushia's pretty much been snapped out of reality at this point, there's never gonna be live performances of Koyoi wa Halloween Night anymore. Sucks, it was one of my favorite Holo songs.
Real question. Would people rather have them retire the song or have someone else fill in the Role? Maybe Robocco's voice could fit.

I doubt there would have been any rrats other than she took the days off to support her friends, especially her roommate/waifu. I think the "Coco coming back" ship has long sailed.
I still think they are missing out on a huge opportunity to have her pop in the next one and sing maybe with her gen. Everyone would lose their shit.

my hopeium filled rrat is that maybe they were planning something but choosing to bring back a major inactive/graduated member so soon after kicking another major one out barely a month ago would've not been that great of an idea, maybe for a major HL milestone/event we will get even a tiny glimpse of the yakuza dragon

It feels like the ID girls getting slept on played a major factor in their overwhelming positive reception.

Speaking personally, their performances feel almost nostalgic to me sort of like those old Inuyasha endings you would watch on Adult Swim.

If people didn't know them then they probably know them know

MC stands for Master of Ceremonies, it just means a host.

That would explain why they don't have social media accounts too. They probably don't even have talents behind them yet.
That also would explain the breaking out of tradition but the way they announced it was absolutely awful
JP talent talking about how ID caught them off guard:
like i said the Meta has changed it even the JP music industry darling Suisei got impressed

"they are still our kouhais but not exactly under our branch"

So EN, even the fact that they refuse to call them a Gen is a dead giveaway
I am not so sure about that. It could still be a Japanese branch, but something special (read corporately retarded), like fujo bantering or the like. I really don't see them creating an english speaking male branch now.

Interesting thing that Gura just said. Apparently Marine invited her to be part of Umisea, so it may not have been as corporate mandated as previously thought.
Gura mentioned a while back Marine helped her early on. Maybe the idea of Umisea wasn't corporate mandated, but the product that came from it were. I still hold out hope on it. If they do more games and less expensive projects they could course correct it. The four of them (5 if Chloe is in) in Sea of Thieves for instance. Just doing some fun things without meddling like what Holobirds do.

It's also possible Gura wasn't meant to be in the first draft of the group, but Senchou went "Hey, we still have one more Sea based idol"

She mentioned the Umisea thing while talking about how much she loved Marine and how welcoming she was early on, so it maybe the idea of sub units was a corpo idea and Marine ran with it. Because it sounded like Umisea was marines idea. or maybe I am over thinking it.

Nah i mean what would the purpose of it? why not straight dump them as Gen 4 instead of making the "it is but is not", unless they are planning a Noctyx and do mixed gender gens

Finally got to watch Holofes, hate being an europoorfag

Day 1 highlights definitely were Moona Suisei's duet with Towa and Korone's "Can't defeat Airman". Had high as a kite expectations for day 2 and HOLY. FUCK. Okayu, Aqua/Shion/Okayu's Phony, IOFI, RISU (Iofi was fucking amazing), Mori (although her model is a bit yikes), and Kiara (who surely can dance, JESAS) did... what can I say, absolutely incredible, words cannot express how hype all of it was. Loved Flare too.

If I had two nitpicks about performances, it would be that Gura also doing her backup vocals was a bit jarring (Iofi was more clever about it) and that having Roboco and Aki one after the other was sleep inducing and the change of energy going from them to Mori was weird. Aside from that, the whole thing was Fantastic with a capital F. Fuck, I love Hololive

These are my thoughts too.

It's not like HoloEN where the generations are named rather than numbered, because Holostars already has a precedent for numbering generations, and there has never been an attempt from anyone to say 'Myth and Council are two separate entities under the same production' because that would be retarded.

This is more like Hololive Gamers, where they fit into the same hierarchy of seniority, but are intended to specialise in something specific (regardless of how that pans out in hindsight).

I don't think they're going to be 'Male Idols'. Their designs speak to something with a bit more attitude to them. Maybe they're a rock band, maybe they're musicians or gamers rather than singers. Maybe they're intended to focus on internal dynamics for fujobait (the red dude looks like he's been pulled straight out of K Project, which is a popular fujoshi anime series).

They're definitely Japanese, though. All the names are Japanese and it was revealed at a time most of the west was fast asleep or just waking up. It's just a series of bizarre decisions.

I think UmiSea could still very much work. It just fell victim to a stumbled beginnings and poor timing with Marine having to take a break pretty much immediately after it happened. They just need to drop the corny animations. The Minecraft collab showed potential and if the Mario Party collab would have been the new one, it would have been special, too.
