Pay day is tomorrow, right? Buckle up for a good ol' fashioned Monday rage
I think her brain is so short-term that she seriously will not understand the ramifications of her actions until she tries to pay her rent and realizes she either can't, or she has $5 leftover afterwards
Look, if there is anything we have learnt, it's that Chantal does not understand that actions have consequences. When she inevitably can't pay the rent, she will just go live and rant about YouTube doing this to her FOR NO GOOD REASON, pretend to the VIBs she is going to change her life for real by echoing their words of advice back to them (devoid of any intent to actually change, of course) then ask for money to support her while she does it. Once the initial rage is over, she will do something "quirky" in the nude because she thinks an idgaf attitude to your problems makes you look like a badass. She will get enough money to stave off the landlord until she can't do that any longer, and then she will squat without paying rent until somebody forcibly evicts her.
At that point, a number of things could happen but if she has any options left, she will eventually exhaust them. The end of it is, she will end up homeless and living out of the Kia. She will be physically uncomfortable as hell but she still won't connect that discomfort with her own actions and think "I could have avoided this".
At no point does this process include a come to Jesus moment where she understands that she is in this situation because of her own actions. Because she doesn't understand this, she continues to think she can do whatever she want consequence free, because for her *nothing that happens to her is ever a result of something she did*.
Every day, Chantal is only ever going to handle things the way she handled them the day before, because Chantal does not change. The methods may get more and more insane, up to and including shipping herself off to Saudi Arabia for 10 days at a time to have sheikhs with fat fetishes force-feed her baby food and shit on her chest in exchange for 20k per trip. But the attitude behind her coping mechanisms will never change.
500 days from now, Chantal is going to do on that day, what she did the day before. On day 499 she is going to do what she did on day 498, and all the way back in reverse until we get to day 0 i.e today. And today she has no understanding that she is capable of fucking up her own life.
She will never suffer from the constant degradation of her life in the same way you or I would because she won't regret a thing. She won't blame herself for a single minute for ending up in this circumstance. She has no concept of guilt or shame or beating herself up over it, because she doesn't think she has anything to do with it. How can someone like that even have a come to Jesus moment like the one you describe?
She'll still suffer physically and emotionally, but she won't have bone-deep regrets. Because that would imply longer-term thinking than she is actually capable of. If she hasn't developed it by now, she isn't going to suddenly start just because she can't pay the rent.
It's the same way Chris still thinks he's in prison not because he committed a crime against another human being, but because the police just don't understand.
You might ask, am I envious of Chantal sleeping the somewhat carefree sleep of one who believes they have never made a single bad choice in their lives?
I'll answer that with another question: do i sound like someone who wouldn't care about living out of a car with sheikh shit on my chest?
The answer is lol no.
