According to the Wikipedia map (which the site is not allowing me to copy paste), most of Luhansk has been Liberated. This is funny because many redditors and pro Ukraine smugposters are coping hard because they are still using maps that show most of Luhansk outside of the LPR as being under Ukranian Control.
Why do faggots use terms like "liberate" to mean "annexed"? Do you think everyone around you is stupid & will assume the Ukrainians are being freed from some implied slavery or is it meant to be sarcastic?

Come on now, by your registration date alone, this can't be your first war. The people attacking always claim to be "liberating"

I guess the cultural memory of soviet paper shortages lives on. I'm afraid to ask what the toilet paper situation is like.
Honestly, toilet paper is one ware that is guaranteed to not have shortages. Because it is very light, transport cost of toilet paper is very high compared to it's price, so every nation on earth produces their own.

Has any actual new information come into this thread recently, or has it all been wheel-spinning slapfights thus far?
I'm trying to provide up-to-date and helpful articles, being a little hard-working bee that I am, but the Russian offensive has stalled and the news coverage has gone dry. So slapfights it is.

The only lulzworthy thing over the last few days was the Reddit volunteer brigade getting blown up alongside a Ukrainean military base because they did not disable their cellphones.

Covid feels like a Matryoshka doll.

First it's a Chinese virus but then you go deeper and it's potentially American funded in a way due to how the lab funding was being orchestrated and if you go further it was probably the Jews.

But the whole conspiracy of a global manufactured supervirus makes those reports of people with the Covid pathogen months before it was discovered in Wuhan scarier. It could just be that the samples were tampered with but if this goes deeper and there was a global attempt to create a virus capable of global destruction then it completely blows away the East vs West narritive that has been drilled into us from birth and our enemies are holding hands behind the scenes.
The truth about the US relationship with communist China since we started sending all our consumer technology there to be manufactured is: We don't consider them a peer competitor militarily and the people in charge are absolutely certain they never will be. (The alternative is that our government believes that they will never seriously be a hostile enemy power.) How do I know this?
"Bad news for Chinese generals: The United States Commerce Department has just determined that the new Sony Playstation II, available later this year, is powered by an American-made chip so powerful that Washington would have to be notified before it could be shipped to China. If the final destination were a company, institute or household linked to the Chinese military, a lengthy review would be required to make sure America's most sophisticated technology does not fall into the hands of bomb makers." -- Letting the Chips Fall Where They May By DAVID E. SANGER, June 13th, 1999
Once we stopped caring whether all our high tech consumer devices were made in China, it meant we were no longer seeing them as a security threat. Bill Gates wanted to build a new design for a fast breeder nuclear reactor there.

"China is building a massive nuclear energy program that will ultimately enable the Communist regime to power a nuclear navy to take on America’s fleet worldwide."

"Just as US politicians and businesses allowed the nation to become dependent on China for pharmaceuticals, electronics, and strategic minerals, they are helping Beijing to make America dependent on advanced nuclear technology. This can stop with a simple act of Congress that is unusually united against the Xi Jinping regime." -- US gives China the advantage in next-generation nuclear technology July 13, 2020 J. Michael Waller
So, as short sighted as it is, I absolutely believe that US funded bioweapon research could (and did) go on in China.

This is a forum where we're discussing the war, presumably none of us here are personally militarily involved so it would be pointless to gaslight as to the nature of what's being done, just be upfront and call it annexation.
Sorry, afterthought.

I'm still amazed that they didn't try to prevent that shit. I remember 2014 being fucking FILLED with stories about how the Russians were using cell phones for artillery strike locating. Well those idiots paid the price for not doing basic reading.

Interesting bit from today's Russian Ministry of Defense briefing:
The use of hypersonic missile to destroy a large fuel depot in the village of KONSTANTINOVKA was required due to its invisibility and invulnerability offered by enemy air and missile defense.
Combat use of "Kinzhal" hypersonic missile confirmed its effectiveness by destroying highly protected special enemy facilities. The strikes against Ukrainian military infrastructure objects by this missile system will be continued in the course of the Special Military Operation.
I would like to point out that the use of hypersonic missile of "Kinzhal" was carried out from a range of more than 1000 kilometers. The flight time of the hypersonic missile was less than 10 minutes.
Significantly, the "Kinzhal" system was used with a conventional warhead. But experts are well aware of the capabilities of this weapon, not only in terms of range, but also in terms of the type of warhead carried.

It's under Russian control for few weeks now, I guess they're keeping the flags until the referendum.

10 min to cross 1,000km only averages out to 6,000km/h or mach 5, with the reported top speed being up to mach 12 (14,700km/h), so I guess it at least does most of it's cruise at barely the hypersonic limit, then finally hits at mach 10+ (it hit at 10 in the test last summer).

I think that's interesting because it's supposedly a solid fuel rocket instead of something like a scramjet, and usually you can't just throttle those (think model rocket engines but scaled up), unless it has different fuel stages or the fuel is pre shaped to customize the speed?

I assume liberate and freedom is being used the same way the USA uses it.

Its "liberation" in conjunction with a "special operation" against a "peacekeeping mission" means there is no Thanos. Good guys on both sides, just like in Captain America: Civil War!

Hypersonic missile being used is the most recent actual news I'm aware of but no real developments on the war.

I can add that there's speculation the Chinese drone company DJI has allegedly made it so Ukrainian DJI accounts can't use their drones but no proofs or really anything tangible on it. It wouldn't surprise me though as cheap drones are a force multiplier, even more so for guerilla-style fighting.

A coulple of years ago I managed to save up some money and was thinking about purchasing a nice forest cottage in Finland. Easily reachable from St. Petersburg, great nature, delicious food, lovely people, not Russia.

What stopped me was the clause that stated that Finland reserves the right to confiscate the property of Russian citizens by paying them minimal compensation as it sees fit.

It hasn't happened yet, so I still do not know whether I dodged the bullet or doomed myself by not buying it.
In the United States, we have Eminent Domain where governments can seize property of citizens themselves but have to pay whatever they deem is the fair value of the land.

Though its probably riskier for foreign non citizens since usually they move their entire livelihood from one country to another and still don't have the same level of rights as citizens have.

The Russians also make some super overpressure stuff
Specifically super over pressure armor piercing stuff
Cartridge weight9.5 g (147 gr)8.1 g (125 gr)
Bullet weight5.2 g (80.2 gr)4.1 g (63.3 gr)
Muzzle velocity460 m/s (1,509 ft/s)600 m/s (1,969 ft/s)
Muzzle energy561 J (414 ft⋅lbf)756 J (558 ft⋅lbf)
Accuracy of fire at
25 m (27 yd) (R50)
25 mm (1.0 in)
Maximum pressure280 MPa (41,000 psi)

The 7N21 (Cyrillic: 7Н21) 9×19mm overpressure variant features an armor-piercing bullet and generates a peak pressure of 280 MPa (41,000 psi). The 7N21 bullet features a hardened (subcaliber) steel penetrator core, enclosed by a bimetal jacket. The space between the core and jacket is filled with polyethylene, and the tip of the penetrator is exposed at the front of the bullet, to achieve better penetration. The penetration range for body armor is specified at up to 40 m (130 ft). The MP-443 Grach and GSh-18 pistols and PP-19 Vityaz, PP-90M1 and PP-2000 submachine guns were designed for use with this overpressure cartridge. Jane's Infantry Weapons stated in 2003 that the 7N21 cartridge combines the 9×19mm Parabellum dimensions with a 9×21mm Gyurza bullet design and was developed specifically for the penetration of body armor and for the MP-443 Grach pistol, the latest Russian service pistol.

The 7N31 (Cyrillic: 7Н31) / PBP 9×19mm overpressure variant uses the same concept with a similar but lighter bullet that achieves higher muzzle velocity. The penetration of an 8 mm (0.31 in)-thick St3 steel plate is specified at up to 10 m (33 ft). The 7N31 cartridge was developed in the late 1990s for the GSh-18 pistol. The 7N31 was adopted for the PP-90M1 and PP-2000 submachine guns. Its maximum service pressure remains unclear.

The method of construction of the two rounds allows them to be effective against both unarmored and armored targets. If the bullet strikes an unarmored target, it holds together to produce a wide wound channel. If the bullet strikes an armored target, the sleeve is stripped away and the core penetrates alone. The disadvantage of the rounds is that high impact velocities are needed for them to work effectively, so the bullets are relatively light to maximize their muzzle velocity. This means they lose velocity relatively quickly, limiting their effective range
but no clue if the ukies ever got any.
I have no knowledge as to whether or not the Ukrainians have any or have developed their own domestic clone of (Like they apparently have done with the 12.7x55 mm cartridge, similar overall cartridge slightly different dimensions) either 7N21 or 7N31 but I have heard from a Russian acquaintance of mine that allegedly some time during the war in Donbass that some thin skinned armored vehicles got some holes poked in them by those rounds but that is probably not true.

The Ukranians have been liberated from the Iron Grip of a fake gay country.

So is this the second or third one they've used now? This does explain the public narrative change in the news. You gotta wonder how up to date those defense systems Ukraine has gotten from every NATO ally and how defenseless Europe/US is to these types of strikes. I doubt anyone gave Ukraine their most up to date AA system, at least I hope they weren't dumb enough to do that. It also explains the odd request/demand the US gave Turkey to give Ukraine the Russian AA system they bought from the a few years ago.
It’s an idiotic use of them. They almost certainly do not have them in high production numbers. They probably cost more than a new fighter jet. And they seem to be lobbing them randomly at targets They are like the old German V1 and V2 terror bombs. It’s less about what it hits and more about who it terrorizes. The entire purpose of those things is to defeat a hardened cutting edge anti missile defense system… which Ukraine does not have.

The US has had functional hypersonic cruise missile systems since the 80’s. They never put them into full production because they were an extremely expensive solution to a cheap problem.

And Putin is falling into that trap here. He is using the hypersonic missiles for political emotional purpose. They @ren’t doing anything that conventional cruise missiles don’t. And he is allowing his rivals on the world stage to collect tons of data on his new Magic missiles, at no risk to themselves. All while using the to no purpose that actually militarily benefits from their use. He’s simply flushing money down a hypersonic toilet In some game of international dick waving. Because if Russia doesn’t look scary and powerful, he’s got nothing.

Use yt-dlp https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp
It's command-line out of the box but really dead-simple to use. With twitter you typically need to use the -o options but for youtube videos you can just use the link

yt-dlp -o "name of video.mp4" TWITTER_URL yt-dlp YOUTUBE_URL
OK so I looked at that page and was all like what the fuck and tried clicking some stuff and decided it's not really dead-simple in the way that I think dead-simple things should be. It made my brain hurt, so I tried watching YouTube videos to figure it out and found the Firefox add-on thing so now I can put up this video of a DPR tank in Mariupole pounding those Azovs as a token of my appreciation for your advice.
And an Azov dude on CNN.

Yeah, but there's a lot that can penetrate lightly armored vehicles, so I wouldn't necessarily take that as proof they developed some of that particular type. I really do want to get my grubby little hands on some, but that was most likely impossible before the war, much less after. Ah well maybe I can make my own.
