Please, can someone explain to me how a gay son is a bigger shame than a troon "daughter".
I'm not religious nor did I grow up in a remotely religious household, so I have a very hard time understanding how a troon is better than a gay son.
I think it is similar to how Shiite fundies in Iran view it. It isn't really "tolerance" so much as seeing it as a correctable medical issue that is different than the ghey, which is seen as a moral issue. In Iran, you really don't have much of a choice, though. Some TRA idiots in the West have celebrated this as a counterpoint to the "transphobic West", but they ignore the lack of consent that is involved.
While it is not as widespread here, I have definitely seen rumblings before from fundie circles that view trans as preferable to the lgb.
The Bible seems pretty clear on this topic. I'm not Christian myself, but I'm not aware of this being "out of context". It seems like the T have been around for awhile. It is the only line I know of about the T, but there are many passages about the gays, so that is probably part of any pro-T bias.
“A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God."
That being said, a lot of Christians really don't care much about anything that isn't part of the Four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) and disregard a lot of the Old Testament, like Deuteronomy. This varies a fair amount across denominations.
I am not surprised by this relative tolerance compared to the LGB as I really don't remember Christian conservatives being bent out of shape about transgender until the Tumblr/Twitter era arrived around 2010. Hell, I don't even remember the term transgender before then, just transsexual. Their focus was gays, D&D, video games, movies, porn, music, etc. However, the new era of the abusive loudmouth social media "stubble and a mumu" troon is what created the current and massive backlash. Personally, I never had any issue with the T until that timeframe. Knew a few that were cool with me and just didn't give a shit. They just transitioned and moved on with their lives rather than screaming about every slight. Damn, I miss that era.
