I think after the US got Yeltsin in to nuke Russia's economy and society, the goal was to make it a US puppet state where we control its massive amounts of resourses and armaments. Putin destroyed that by actually doing shit for the Russian people, which they realize, hence his 70% domestic approval rating.

The plan is probably still the same: cause Russia to collapse economically and cause regime change through that to make it a puppet state. Any attempts on Putin's livelyhood, wellbeing or worse is a bonus for humiliation on the world stage during Obama and to set an example.

He and his direct our foreign policy. It’s entirely reasonable to portray us as the bad guy considering the position we find ourselves in.

Limited view from where I am at, but collegue take is you are half right. U.S. isn't a big factor but is actively working against ending the war.

But general take is that the Russians seem willing to accept a win and go. Ukrainians seem unwilling to compromise anything despite their position being fucked.

In this case, we are prolonging a war that should have ended a week ago. So yes, the US is the bad guy.

Also, Ukraine is ground zero for Hunter’s games. That and China. There’s always the chance that Biden and the government is looking for a way to hide skeletons if you ask the fine folks at /pol/.

Well, the thing about Ukraine, according to /pol/ types, is that Ukraine is nothing but a hotbed of corruption and puppetry for the west. And if Putin can take that down, it’s a win for the people because the elites have one of their major places down for the count, and so much dirty laundry will be exposed.

I actually think Biden is doing a pretty good job.

He got us out of shithole Afghanistan and is using economic strategies to outsmart Russia instead of sending troops and bombs. He’s a peaceful negotiator and his strategy is effective.

I don’t mind the high gas prices. This is a reminder we all need to do our part and be mindful of our carbon footprint. I’ve started to bike to work. My wife isn’t on board yet. Thankfully our (male) neighbor has offered to give her rides in his Tesla which is saving us a lot of gas on her grocery and shopping trips.
