BREAKING: Biden says 'food shortages are gonna be real' - "With regard to food shortages. Yes, we did talk about food shortages. And, and it's gonna be real," Biden said.

President Joe Biden held a press conference in Brussels on Thursday, during a trip to Europe amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

He took questions from reporters about concerns of growing food insecurity globally, as the two nations that are currently in conflict provide much of the world's wheat.

"Can you say whether there's the conversation is a turn to the subject of food shortages and what the US will do to address wheat shortages in particular, as a result of this?" Biden was asked.

"With regard to food shortages. Yes, we did talk about food shortages. And, and it's gonna be real," Biden said.

"The price of the sanctions is not just imposed upon Russia. It's imposed upon an awful lot of countries as well. Including European countries and our country as well," he went on.

The United States and NATO nations have issued major sanctions against the Russian economy, pushing Russia to engage in trade with nations that are not part of the western alliance.

"And because both Russia and Ukraine have been the breadbasket of Europe in terms of wheat, for example, just give one example. But we had a long discussion in the G7 with the, with both the United States, which has a significant third-largest producer of wheat in the world, as well as Canada, which is also a major, major producer," Biden said.

"And we both talked about how we could increase and disseminate more rapidly, food shortages. In addition to that, we talked about urging all European countries and everyone else end trade restrictions on sending, limitations on sending food abroad.

"And so we are in the process of working out with our European friends, what it would be, what it would take to help alleviate the concerns relative to food shortages.

"We also talked about a significant major US investment, among others, in terms of providing for, the need for humanitarian assistance, including food as we move forward," Biden concluded.

The flag of Ukraine, blue on top and gold on the bottom, represents the sky and fields of wheat.

Consumer prices have risen consistently in the US on everything from food, to fuel, to supplies. Concerns have been mounting as the Ukraine conflict continues that prices increases will not abate, but will continue their rise unimpeded.

We have not seen the effects of the sanctions yet, we won't for quite a few months. This is all bullshit that has been building for 2 years from the lockdowns and massive upheavals in the shipping industries due to strikes/laying off truckers over vaccine mandates. When the effects of the sanctions do hit, it will hit hard though.

Also the sanctions will hurt Russia in roughly that same timespan, but its like trading an eye for an eye.
WTF's the point of hurting Russia in years' time if you're dying right fucking now?

This is expected to trigger food crisis‘s in Africa, Western Asia and parts of the Middle East.
Great. More refugees for Amnesty International and The Open Society foundation to flood America with.

Meanwhile I'll be living in "flyover country" in "the middle of nowhere" still getting choice porterhouse for ten bucks a pound and pork ribs for four. If I ever get tired of unlimited cheap meat I can walk across the road and grab a couple million ears of corn. This is what life is like when you live on the same block your food comes from.

Enjoy your concrete coffins, city-dwellers.

Biden aspires to replicate President Trump's eloquence.
"...And, and it's gonna be real," The shitnigger aspires not to be a stuttering asshole. Eloquence is a bridge too far. Edit:
I can't help but smugly look at my stockpile I've been amassing since April 2020.

I'm still going to feel it, but I'll feel it a lot later than everyone who told me I was a dumbass for obtaining so many non perishable and canned foods.
Well, hopefully you've learned your lesson and will use this intervening time to start a garden and learn canning. Chickens are pretty easy for meat and/or eggs.

Want a pet Bear? I can do chores, good with children and run errands. Is there honey sold locally?

Might have to go back to poaching like I did many, many moons ago in my early 20s and I was super poor. I don't agree with poaching it's definitely wrong but when you're super poor and you gotta eat, fuck it. Better than stealing or going on EBT.

I have a shitload of .22 and .17 .308 and 12 guage rounds. Even with as high priced as ammo is I can go into the woods with one magazine outside of hunting season and come back with enough meat to pay for the ammo itself.

Never thought I'd be poor enough to consider going into the woods during the spring again, but if there's literally no food to be found regardless of what I have in the bank account, I can justify it to myself.

Would immensely enjoy the raging meltdowns of the Deathfats if they start rationing things (unlikely to happen but it would be funny).
Imagine a 30 day+ moratorium on Fast and junk food so the wheat and corn can be used for healthier foods. Fatties vs. looters at the supermarkets and Fast food joints to grab the last items left.

One way or another, men with guns never starve.

I have a garden, but it's a moot point since I'm surrounded by farmland on all sides anyways.

Canned Goods are mostly for convivence and were free since I just raided pantries and churches every week. The fact that people that I know lived far closer to these places giving away free food during the Pandemic but instead of taking the opportunity chose to just keep ordering Grub Hub and mock me is why I'm smug.

Fishing gear and knowledge of edible wild plants also help. I'm kinda chuckling at my bugmen friends who act like they're so damn smart and sophisticated and they don't even know what wild asparagus or mulberries or morels are. And that's like basic 101 entry level foraging plants..

Edit: speaking of morels, I haven't sold them in years, but if things get right, I might sell again instead of eat them myself. I used to sell morels at $40 a pound, sometimes more, back when I was broke. I bet with inflation I could get $70/lb from the rich foodies now. There are so many niche things you can do to make cash off of people who have it when you're poor.
