Russia eating shit in an extremely visible and humiliating way and losing some 10-30% of its military capacity to mud and conscripts is fantastic if you like the idea of the US running the show for another hundred years, or if you want to make and argument that the US defense budget is way too high, if you are pro-nazi or anti-nazi, if you hate monopolists or communists, or if you just like footage of shitty tanks going boom, there's something for everyone to love somewhere in there. By being smaller and slower than ICBMs even in the terminal phase, hypersonic missiles have a different profile to track and more interference from the atmosphere. Some gliding bodies are controlled or automated with evasive patterns to make things more troublesome, but there isn't really evidence of any of these more advanced concepts working in practice. It is the case that there isn't documented proof of these systems working (there is no reason at all that GMD wouldn't work, it would be overkill), but that has nothing to do with speed or hardware limitations and everything to do with a lack of practice. The information gathered from any usage of hypersonic missiles in Ukraine will be invaluable for accurate simulations and addressing inadequacies in detection.

Ukraine is actually holdin' out pretty well but it's hard to tell how much of that is due to Ukraine itself, and Western Hegemony kneecapping Russia with sanctions.
