President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

A cunning Russian National Guardsmen avoided service in the war with this neat trick.

Kamil Galeev gives another example of system hacking from another era. An hereditary nobleman in St. Petersburg knew he would be arrested in Stalin's purges, so he breaks a window at an expensive store and fills a bag with expensive goods and waits for the police. He is arrested and gets some years in prison, but this criminal sentence was a far milder thing than what he would have suffered as a political prisoner. It is a good cynical thread.

Is it wrong I can't exactly feel bad for the Saudis? Only an idiot knows you don't openly snub the USA like they did.
You're not. MBS is just one big idiot that will ruin everything if he didn't get his head in order soon. He thought starting a proxy war on his border is good. He thought killing and mutilating a journalist in a hostile territory is good. He's like a manchild, really

He may have done some things wrong, but you still have to give him props for fighting the good fight against journoscum.

When your strategy as a country is "I won't eat at Sartiale's for a while" you're kind of fucked.

the same version verbatim appeared in few other Russian newspapers today:

Moscow Communist Youth newspaper:

essentially they just wanted to expand Donbass region to their territorial limits (of Donetsk/Luhansk districts ... something they explicitly said they won't do) and the rest of fighting was just a distraction to keep Ukrainian forces occupied and unable to reinforce the group opposing Donbass forces.

Fucking weirdo Russians can't even frag officers normally.

I bet they didn't have the balls to kill him face to face, so probably just swung the tank around "accidentally" running over his legs.

For context, this happened in "Chernobayevka" - at this point it's Ukrainian meme (google "чернобаевка меме") This is a small airport, somehow the only game in town to deploy helis close to Kherson. The kicker is that somehow Ukrainians positioned their artillery close by and dialed in the coordinates real well.

So the story with Chernobayevka, first time, there was some spectacular destruction of Russian helis on the ground, there is a vid of it. Everyone got burned to embers. So Russians came back on put shit there again for the second time and same shit happened. I have no idea why, they just kept coming back and getting completely fucked again and again. After 6th time Ukrainian telegram channels were ROFLing ... and right now the count is at ten. Ten times Russians simply drove to the airport and got completely decimated in short time. It's like Ukrainian bermuda triangle. I have no idea what makes it special or why Russians could not figure out where artillery was to destroy it, but probably dudes got a whiff that this was a cursed place and commander ordered them to go there again ... which probably didn't go well.

How far back we have to go to find US general who got killed in combat?

I have no idea what exactly is going on, but probably a couple of reasons. Russians do have encoded comms, but somehow they are not working or supposedly require 4G service somehow ... but a lot of comms happen in the open or over cell phones and they are being intercepted.

The very first big score Ukrainians got was second or third day of the invasion when a major was killed. After columns could not make headway, dude went ahead of the column in the tank as the tank commander and got knocked out. Typically he should not have been there, but shitty performance of his subordinates + unhappy superiors is probably what drove him to lead the column himself. My bet is that in other important situations, a lot of NCOs and junior officers simply suck at their jobs, which probably forces higher and more experienced staff to take situation in their hands which inevitably results in some of them getting offed with their troops.

Kashoggi was only technically journoscum. He was a terrorist supporter pretending to be a journalist... far more than your typical Western one is, I mean. MBS did the world a solid, but given what we know of the execution and "attempt" at body removal my gut tells me not even Guy Richie could write a screenplay with as many darkly humorous fuckups as what actually went down, all the way from MBS talking over a potential hit with an advisor or two, to the actual hiring, to the murder, to the cleanup, to getting caught.

I feel a lot of people are going a bit too hard on Russia willing to Nuke.
Russia has a strict nuclear policy which outlines no first-use unless the state is facing an existential risk.

It’s also important to keep in mind US nuclear policy doesn‘t omit first-strike use whatsoever, any US president has the authority to order nuclear strikes whenever whereas all other nuclear powers (with the exception of the DPRK and Israel) all have no first strike policies.

Also, the OCPW has declared that Russia eliminated it's own militarized chemical stockpile since 2017. So Biden should really shut up about Russia potentially using them.

Russia’s still in the wrong here, and I wouldn’t put it past Putin to use them, but he’s not Kim Jon-Un.

A youtuber named Arch did a video the other day talking about BTGs and one of the points he mentioned was the shitty communications. Apparently for their newest digital radio, the Azart, they have a maximum production run so far of 60k, which assuming they were all in perfect working order, and all assigned to the army in Ukraine would still only be enough to equip 1/4 of their men.
Vid in question: https://youtu.be/sAU5cgBGcUk?t=1660

Also in a revelation that should shock literally noone there was a corruption probe into the manufacturer and related senior military figures, including shit like using shitty chinese knockoff components etc, so unlikely the damn things work in the first place.

Dude, they tricked him and then mutilated him alive. You can't justify something like that. He ain't no journoscum either, at the very least he did actual journalistic and activism work, not some lazy twitter-addict journalist

... it's a "rite of passage"

If you think that Russian army is bad, Russian Orthodox church completely dwarfs all that. Stalin himself at one time studied in a seminary and established the fusion of ChK/KGB/FSB with church that's going to this day. Recruiting homos and pedos into the church wasn't just helpful, it was the only way to get in, as all churches under USSR were technically under KGB that made decisions with promotions and intel gathering. The more skeletons you had in your closet, the better, plus it served well to discredit religious influence internally. Even if it wasn't in the open, whatever was left of parishes, people could add 1+1 when their priests seem to do "things" but it never went any further in public. Entire church leadership today are the priests who came from the USSR times, (i.e. KGB agents and CIs) along with the debauchery kept on down low in their circles.
So basically, anything the Commies touched, from their army to their own puppet church, became a bastion of boy-fucking? Well, what a surprise. When you eradicate all sources of morality and authority outside of the Party and the BIG MAN, your culture turns into a game of who can plow as much man-ass as possible to establish dominance. They have literally devolved into animals.

Back to the Tsar times, St. Pete's, homosexuality, pedophilia and troonery was absolutely normalized, but never spoken out loud. Poor students, country folks could earn day's work of unloading carts in 5 min of just ("relax your anus") There were well known streets, where you'd stroll to pick up "aunts", i.e. men dressed as women. Bath houses with boys and men "for assistance"
So basically, for the downtrodden Russian commoner, one way of getting rich quick is to take it up the ass as much as possible per day? I imagine many men took up that deal to get rich quick. Sure, your ass will be sore, but hey, you'll eat better than most peasants!

Russia has never been a homophobic country, buttsex, animal sex, snohachestvo (having sex with wives of your sons) was probably even greater due to difference in wealth. There is only a facade of being based.
Cuckery, beastiality, and sodomy. All in one package. Damn, this makes most western degeneracy look tame by comparison. And yet right-wing simps want to say that Russia is a bastion of tradition, European heritage, and Christian morality. Talk about gaudy externals hiding an ugly truth.

btw, by Russian prison rules it's not homo to get a blow job from a man or to fuck prison "bitch" in ass. So it's not about homosexuality, it's about where you are on the power totem pole.
Basically, the same as with most prisons; the man at the top isn't gay, the man taking it up the ass from him is. The problem is, Russia allowed this culture to permeate their army and church, which are the top two organizations outside of the political elite that hold Russia up.

It is literally a country held up by butt-rapists.

That's kind of the end result when you build your masculine culture around the twisted sense of domination Russians seem to have with the result of that being that the purest way of dominating another man is to put your dick in his ass. Maybe Russia does have a claim to being the Third Rome after all knowing the complex Romans could have towards buttfucking.
Well, it does seem familiar. After all, while Roman men were forbidden to take it up the ass (doing so means you lose your citizenship) a Roman can do it to other freedmen or slave men and not face any punishment whatsoever.

Rus began by slavs inviting some burly man from abroad to rule them, it makes sense
It really is a country with a power structure based around Stockholm Syndrome, isn't it?

Ukraine is saying Shoigu had a heart attack? Did Putin put a polonium pellet in his defense minister?
Bullet to the back of the head, actually. Heart attack was an old Soviet euphemism for a state execution when one doesn't wish to disclose someone got whacked for pissing off someone important.

EDIT: Considering Putin is acting like he wants to bring back the USSR, pretty sure that includes the usual penalties the USSR had for making promises to the big man at the top you couldn't deliver on.

[Archive - Daily Mail] - Enjoy with Seawater

Has Russia's defence minister had a HEART ATTACK? Ukraine claims missing Sergei Shoigu who has not been seen for 15 days collapsed after Putin accused him of botching invasion

  • Ukrainian adviser Anton Gerashchenko claims Sergei Shoigu had a heart attack
  • He says his medical episode after Putin accused him of botching invasion
  • Defence minister Sergei Shoigu has not been seen in public for 15 days
  • Kremlin accused of faking zoom call with Shoigu on Thursday

Something fucky is definitely going on with Putin's "no.2".

Thier comms failed at the very first day and now they are just doing they best whit cell phones and other not-so-smart options.

"RF may conduct a full-scale offensive on Poland, the Baltic states & Kazakhstan as part of a global military special operation on demilitarization & denazification. This was stated by Russian MP Savostyanov. It's only the beginning. Russia frankly promises there will be a lot of European blood," the Ukrainian official wrote.

Russians can't even take Donbas so I'm sure they're planning to start WW3, I'm taking it with gallons of seawater as I think Ukrainians want to keep the heat on so the guns, cash and ammo keep coming, yes there was talk on Russian TV about nuking Warsaw but it's just ludicrous what is being claimed here, just thought I'd post it anyway, sorry for not archiving or formatting but site is broken on mobile for me.
