President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

Basically, Poland says those are occupied Polish land since 1945
That was never part of Poland. also the polish/german border line comes from the same treaties Nato broken when letting in Eastern europeans.
their whole claim to half of their country is based on one german law right now and pushing for more eastern european NAto members is only making it more complicated.

Karelian refugees are still active political groups in Finland, are they not?

Like I already said, no they are not. Mainly because most of them are DEAD due to old age, and tertiary because Karelian ethnic identity has ceased to exist through assimilation to larger Finnish mainstream identity. Those Karelian activist groups which I mentioned don't have any political power, nor any connections to political parties that I know of.

It was part of the territory of the Grand Duchy of Poland, but little authority was exercised there, thanks to the abilities of the Old Prussians to used the land and its swamps and forests to hide and ambush. This changed with the Teutonic Knights who did not fear to pursue enemies into the dankest, darkest corners, driving snows be damned. Later, its status as a fief of the Crown of Poland was confirmed under Casimir IV, who took it in hand for some years, after defeating the Teutonic Knights, with reversion to the Knights after 1466, but still held of the Polish Crown. Later the Polish claim to this German populated territory became attenuated and not even nominal, but saying it was never part of Poland is not factual.

Their voter base consists mostly of retarded morally conservative rednecks who are either too dim-witted to get on with the times or too eager to LARP "good old times". Their leaders are a more varied bunch; their current chairman is a vegan woman, one of their front-line MP's is openly gay and in relationship with a black dude and their de facto leader and former chairman is...let's just say that he most likely has lots of aspects that are deliberately hidden from the view to appease his redneck voters.

Their main agenda is centered on being heavily anti-immigration(especially anti-Islamic) and moderately anti-EU. If it were just these two things, I might consider voting them, but because it comes with a package of other stuff tailored to appease their redneck voter base I would never consider giving them my vote. It's much preferrable to see this country burn to ashes and be trampled by immigrant hordes than to give power over to retards who want to larp 50's.

I'm talking about the fact that he parades himself as Polish, yet simps for Poland's top enemy.
A better question to ask: how is the screencap of a retweet is even remotely newsworthy? I mean, we all stray from the intended purpose in this thread, however: how is it news that an American volunteer (allegedly) mis-indentified a vehicle? Better yet, who the fuck appointed CRP as a military expert?

Russian oligarchs welcome in Turkey, foreign minister says

Russian oligarchs are welcome in Turkey but must abide by international law in order to do any business, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Saturday.
Turkey has strongly criticized Russia's invasion of Ukraine but opposes sanctions imposed by its NATO allies on principle.
"If Russian oligarchs ... or any Russian citizens want to visit Turkey of course they can," Cavusoglu said in response to a question at the Doha Forum international conference.

"If you mean whether these oligarchs can do any business in Turkey, then of course if it is legal and not against international law, I will consider it," he said, adding: "If it is against international law then that is another story."

Western governments have targeted Abramovich and several other Russian oligarchs with sanctions as they seek to isolate President Vladimir Putin and his allies over Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

Russia conducts military drills on isles disputed with Japan -media

March 26 (Reuters) - Russia was conducting drills on islands claimed by Tokyo, Japanese media said on Saturday, days after Moscow halted peace talks with Japan because of its sanctions over Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Russia's Eastern Military District said it was conducting military drills on the Kuril islands with more than 3,000 troops and hundreds of pieces of army equipment, Russia's Interfax news agency said Friday.

It did not say where on the island chain, connecting Russia's Kamchatka peninsula and Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido, the drills were taking place. Japanese media said they were on territory the Soviet Union seized at the end of World War Two that is claimed by Tokyo.

Japan's Foreign Ministry and Prime Minister's Office could not be reached outside business hours to comment on the exercises.

The territorial dispute over the four islets - which Russia says are part of its Kuril chain and which Japan calls its Northern Territories - has prevented Tokyo and Moscow from reaching a peace treaty formally ending hostilities.

Japan reacted angrily on Tuesday after Russia withdrew from long-running treaty talks and froze joint economic projects related to the islands, in retaliation for Japan joining Western sanctions over Moscow's month-old invasion. read more

Russia's exercises involved repelling amphibious warfare, including destroying defence aircraft carrying troops and testing skills to operate fire control systems of anti-tank guided missiles, Interfax said.

"In addition to this, units of the Air Defense Forces are carrying out a set of measures to detect, identify and destroy aircraft of a mock enemy that would carry out an airborne assault," the agency cited the District's press service as saying.

What I consider more newsworthy is that Jack Posobiec is retweeting a known grifter.

Does that make Jack a grifter by extension on just this thing alone?
Poso's always been a grifter. He has some level of contact with people in the administration that let him broadcast Biden's gaffes, but that doesn't mean anything other than his grift temporarily aligned with the truth. He's picked a side and now he's pushing that, because it's a big market with few serving it.

I'm currently trying to figure out a way of saying "it's good to see people disagree with the unthinking narrative" without sounding like a russia simp in turn. Oh well.

It's okay to disagree with whatever the main narrative is running at the moment and to examine it critically.

It should be laughed at when people, who claim to be counter-culture and "thinking man's" dissidents just gobble Russian/Z-affiliated narratives like it's Vlad's cock, just because the opposing side happens to be allied with troons.

Putin is invading Ukrainian territory like troons invade women's spaces.

The oligarchs are above matters like currencies, but I imagine there's a few ordinary Russians who holiday there deciding to stay there a bit. Going from Russia to Russia seems a little like going from the frying pan I to the fire in terms of stable currencies which the Lira and Ruble are not, if someone cannot draw on a Euro account.

Turkey has always been almost Chinese in their dealings with Russia, today they stick a knife in their back, tomorrow they are selling their tomatoes to Russia. Turks have great resorts and have adopted to influx of Russian clientele who prefer to go Turkey and Egypt instead of Crimea.

Turks do not disclose amount of aid they are providing, but judging how Bayraktar clones are used even on Russian infantry, it seems like there is no shortage of missiles:

Be Russian spetz, mold your body into a perfect weapon over years of hard training, ... get all your squad fucked by some salo eating hohol scratching balls and pretending it's vidya game:
