Here's a hint about casting calls for TV and movies: they aren't going to hire a troon because he fits a general casting call. Not even Netflix is going to waste an otherwise standard part to cast some hulking lad in bad drag for a female character just to own the cons. If Ollie gets cast he's being cast as a troon so the non-fags in the audience can pat themselves on the back and think, How brave, all the while trying to ignore the lizard part of the brain quoting Austin Powers.

Casting is ruthless and mean and cold and Ollie is about to get two barrels full at point blank.

You're forgetting one exception - "hey why don't we cast one of these characters with a trans actress? We'll get a tonne of PR buzz for having an 'open' casting call and hiring a trans woman to play a cis character". I doubt there'll be many shows like that but I would be shocked if this isn't an idea that hasn't already been toyed with in an office somewhere.

Ollie is deflecting. The real dilemma here is his own, not other peoples'. He is probably thinking, how do I balance my desire to be singled out as unique and special as a transwoman, with my desire to be seen and "treated as" other women are? Chube can't decide if he's a transwoman or a woman because he can't decide which one will complement his grift more. Should he take Iona roles casting him intentionally as the big clockable ma'am which trades in not being lol'd at for fuelling the activist fantasy, or roles written for regular ol' women where we're meant to silence our inner Austin Powers (sorry had to nick that from someone) and see him as just that, a woman? Without his trans status he has little to set himself apart in the television industry and he knows it. If becoming transgender was as simple as just swapping gender, and assuming that it was a reasonably successful procedure that could fool at least a majority of people ie. you 'pass', they would just get it over with and that would be the end of it. They wouldn't be a 'trans woman', they would just be a woman.

I'm aware that being seen as a real woman is something they argue all the time is what they want. But you have to question, when you look at people like Olly's narcissistic behavior - is it really? If he did manage to pass and then just quietly lived his life as a woman from then on, without yapping 24/7 about "TRAAAANS POWER", he wouldn't be the center of attention any more. It's a pattern i've seen with many trannies where they seem to actually be most content with being a sort of victimized third wheel than actually fulfilling their objective of passing.

Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not a psychologist and don't know much about this stuff, but do narcs even have much of an inner life? The impression I get is that everything they consciously do and engage in is a means to an end to feed their ego. Do they actually do things because they enjoy them or benefit from them, without anyone else's input, particularly with no one to see you doing it? It funny that he lists mundane chores as hobbies if that's true because it's like he can't think of what he's meant to say. It reminds me of this boy in my class at 9 years old or so and he said his hobby was drinking water.

Ollie engages in things in a shallow and cynical manner and he is a social climber, begging to be noticed by blue checkmarks and "celebrities". Many people on this thread have noted many of his "friends" (made over the internet of course) seem to have drifted away from him and expect it to keep happening as they realise he has little to offer, and Ollie besides seems uninterested in others beyond what they can offer him. He hasn't even met Alice irl. He loves to talk but not to listen, as you can see on any podcast he has done, discussion or interview (Paris Lees), and has little interest in the topic or people at hand. He's loud and directs the discussion to himself. I haven't listened to KJB more than once but I'm guessing that's similarly full of inappropriate "look at me" dialogue. I think he's still trying to fill that void where his sense of self is missing, and nothing will stick. Keep at it though Ollie, surely getting SRS is the answer. It'll work this time!

His main gimmick, I guess, was that he presented himself as this super sexy, suave, but thoughtful, sensitive and considerate ultimate ally, or at least that's how he liked to see himself. The ultimate marriage of looks, intelligence, worldliness and the correct opinions to be a good progressive in the 21st century.

Its curious because it clearly worked on the likes of Contra and Kat Blaque for a while but it seems as though actually interacting with him personally causes the shine to come off very quickly considering these people seem to doggedly avoid anything to do with him now. Its really when I started to notice just how narcissistic he was since he seemed to have a very high opinion of just how sexy he was considering the amount of times he'd portray himself in his own videos as some kind of chad with little clothing and when he'd talk about things like being invited to orgies but turning them down on Twitter clearly in such a way as to humblebrag.

Its clear that he yearned for status from the start, he's always been looking for ways up the ladder to get past his fundamental existence as a boring straight white guy from a very comfortable background who has at best an undergraduate's understanding of philosophy. Coming out as vaguely bisexual wasn't enough, I think everybody secretly knows that that isn't very much to write home about in the progressive stack even if they don't quite say that out loud, but coming out as trans let him 'instantly become one of the most famous trans people in the country', as he said himself.

I agree, he always came across as dull and derivative. Back when I was a more casual, un-peaked viewer of ContraPoints (and before I even knew Contra's history with Oliver) I always had this feeling that trans princess Oliver's transition was reductive attention seeking (even more than usual transitions, that's got to be quite the accomplishment!) because "reductive attention seeking" seemed to be his thing ever since he began abandoning the "lame nerdery filmed in front of a bookshelf" video format; with the increasing focus on costumes and exhibitionism that any passive viewer could just tell was ripped off of Nyk and all that.

If I can brush aside the sheer fetishism and ugliness of this whole Philosophy Tube project (but not for too long), I just think Oliver's a person who kind of ended up internalizing the western nouveau left's screeching about oppressive white cishet males and his entire online presence (and the phases you described) was him indirectly repenting for his circumstances of birth by trying to show that he's a good ally, that he's actually an abused queer man who's one of them, before ultimately becoming Abigail, the lesbian trans princess who gets literally murdered everyday everytime a feminist opens her mouth about single sex spaces and who deserves our undivided love and support for the brave decision of trooning out in....
