I mean, all-out war seem far more bloody than any insurgency I've heard of.
only because the insurgencies in recent memory involve americans as the occupying force, and americans are notoriously soft and pussified when it comes to handling hostile civilians.

want a more bloody examply, look at the soviet occupation of afghanistan. they couldn't successfully get rid of the mujahideen because they easily blended in with the rural population, so the soviets solution was to depopulate the countryside in order to deprive the muj of their support base. the result was around a million dead afghan civvies, a gigantic wave of internal migration of the rural population into the urban centers, and an even bigger wave of emigration, with millions of afghans fleeing the country, most into pakistan

To view it this way is just retarded. When you're negotiating a ceasefire or planning to maneuver your opponent into one, you have to take their point of view into account. To not do so is literally insane, and it astounds me that people can't grasp what should be a pretty elemental concept. Russia invaded to accomplish certain goals. The Ukrainians at the time wished that they wouldn't invade, and they now wish that the Russians would go home, but what Ukraine or 'the West' thinks doesn't really enter into the Russian calculus unless it has a real impact - NATO getting involved directly. If it did, this war wouldn't be happening. The Russians aren't going to withdraw until they've accomplished what they want (they've already decided that the losses that they will incur are worth it, and have already invested too much into the invasion to call it wash), and the West isn't going to do much, aside from fattening up their arms contractors by flooding Ukraine with weapons and slapping a bunch of sanctions on Russia. So just having Putin randomly turn its tail and withdraw without concessions isn't even an option that's on the table right now. Any restraint that the Russians are demonstrating right now isn't being done out of the goodness of their hearts, but because a negotiated peace is less costly for both parties. If that possibility isn't on the horizon then the war will just get much more brutal, and NATO still won't get directly involved.
Well the Russians got egg all over their face expecting to get those concessions without having to fight for them, and the whining about having to actually fight is pitiful

Ukrainian soldiers in Mariupol surrendering because their situation is hopeless does not mean that the Zelenskyiy government is deposed. It just means that fewer civilians will be put in harms way and fewer buildings will be destroyed. If Azov battalion and the AFU regiment that was stationed there actually cared about the people and the city of Mariupol they would have surrendered 2 weeks ago.

I'm not even sure why the conversation pivoted towards the idea that the Mariupol guys should surrender. They can fight or surrender if they please, I just think it's rather troubling that they're putting their own civilians in harms' way by doing so.

Next round of peace talks scheduled on March 29-30. According to Russia, Ukraine is stalling becaise it believes time is on their side. The translation software fucked up, "Airspace Forces" should read "by means of a video conference".

Said something at the beginning when people were saying Ukis should go the IRA route, the IRA only got as far as it did because they faced what was basically a heavily armed police force, Russia has no problems calling airstrikes and artillery shells on location X to completely wipe out the enemy forces.

The hills are alive with the sounds of Ivan.

That's a different case, those were civilian reprisal killings, and it most definitely did nothing to stop resistance.
It only got worse
I really want to hear him say something like "H.W. told me he really regretted what he did in Dallas..."

Killing Heydrich was stupid because while the military faggots who had never been in a war (and acted in direct defiance of the actual resistance group in that locale) thought it was a fantastic idea, it caused not only reprisals but a harsh crackdown in what had been an otherwise peaceful occupation. The very people they claimed to be helping were the ones who suffered the most after his assassination.
It was huge misstep for the Allies

No, those have just been the only insurgencies that got covered in recent times. There's still plenty of them around the world, but nobody really gives a fuck about them. The Philippines for example have had multiple ones running at various times for at least the last 60 years or so. It's been pretty brutal at times.

Now this is much better than copypasted "Слава Россие"(Glory to Russia) or "Ахмат Сила"(Akhmat Strong).
"Слава Украине в составе России" - Glory to Ukraine as part of Russia. It rhymes in Russian.

And yes, there was a verbal threat that they'll get beat up if they don't comply.

One side shoots POWs in the knee, the other exercises forceful wishful thinking on their ones.
Slavs just can't help themselves I see.

The Russians have had egg all over their faces for centuries when it comes to military competence. They're not renowned as a great warrior culture, they're known for fucking off the the Urals and letting winter take care of their invading enemies, for throwing numbers over quality at any military problem (one gun to ten peasants), and for being exceptionally brutal to rebellious occupied populations like the Circassians or the Tatars. Any frustration that they're feeling is pretty similar to the frustration that Americans felt towards the Japanese, who were preparing to fight to the bitter end with no hope of victory, causing unnecessary suffering to both sides with the same end result. It eventually led us to nuke them into submissions, not to 'withdraw' and let the current regime stay in power.

Oh the Russians are probably gonna be making some knee shots if they weren't already. I guarantee that the Russian military has been showing that video to their troops. The troops will want vengeance for their comrades.

I'm certain some russkies have probably murdered and/or maimed some ukrainians, but Putin hoarded all their phones so they couldn't record it.

Oh yeah, there was already a video of some disgruntled soldier earlier in the thread.

Honestly, I'm fairly certain they behave somewhat similar, but atleast they have a braincell or two to not immediately post it on Internet for whatever reason.
Filming your warcrimes on phones is some next-level retardation.

and that's coming from a fucking loser who has read every single post in both of the Happenings threads.

Aidan, could you tell me if the Invasion of Ukraine News Megathread is worth reading? I checked a few pages and didn't see anything other than the desire for Russian blood and a quotation from Twitter.
