We're past that now when the Mighty Red Army can't even get the job done on an ex sattelite state.
All Russia has now are the nukes. When this war is over the Russian Army will need rebuilding. But if the same people are in charge, you can imagine where the vast majority of money intended for rebuilding is going to go. Likely some or all of the economic sanctions will stay in force, further hampering the ability to rebuild the Russian Army.

Ukraine will re-arm, and fast, with Western help. They already saw their defensive strategy against Russia worked fairly well. Ukraine will work to improve their long-range surface-to-air missile network, since MANPADS aren't real effective against strategic bombers.

NATO's militaries will overall do some upgrading and expansion in selected areas, now they know the vaunted
Russian juggernaut is quite beatable. Japan will likely also do some selected upgrading and expansion, with probably a move to finally get rid of Article 9 of their constitution.

You are probably right about that but a lot of the residents have a soft spot for Russia and Russians. My stepmother speaks fluent Russian, I'm sure she isn't the only Cuban that does. The Cuban military is well trained and disciplined; maybe they don't have the latest toys but they had/have a good reputation. I don't have any information on their current status but given they took Mao's and Che's insurgency doctrines and refined them in Latin America I think they would be of use, if they were asked to participate and accepted.
Oh I wish the cuban commies would send cannon fodder to Ukraine.

That will have to be handle with a delicate touch. Alot of countries in Asia like that Japan has been muzzled.

The Cubans WERE good decades ago, but nowadays? Doubt it, they haven't fought much of a war for ages. It would also be incredibly stupid since Cuba shot their economy to hell and back funding their expeditions to Africa. Cuba's economy has barely recovered since the USSR fell, they have no ability to.
They didn’t do well in Grenada, did they and that was decades ago.

It comes down to how much those countries fear China vs their fear of Japan. I suspect it will be a mixed bag.
It's an open secret Japan can develop nuclear weapons within a few weeks. It's independent satellite launch rockets are about as civilian as their new aircraft carrier is a destroyer. A good chunk of their "waste fuel" from the civilian nuclear program is weapons grade uranium. All they have to do is marry the two programs together. They maintain the fiction of not being nuclear capable as if they were overt about it China would flip its shit.

I imagine both Koreas would be very upset about it as well, given their rather extensive history with Japanese aggression over the centuries.

Why would anyone arm Ukraine after this is over? Serious question. It was a corrupt shithole before. It will be a corrupt shithole after.

You might as well save that money and arm the Poles and Baltic states instead. At least they have a non-zero chance of actually spending it on their military.

Because you pretty much have to. It sends a message that NATO/the west will help the whole time before, during, and after the conflict. It's helpful in getting countries to be more favorable to getting into alliances in the future. Think of it as marketing.

Joeb Island is going to appoint Hunter to be in charge of re-arming Ukraine. Hes already got connections over there.

Ukraine can always be used to attack Russia at any time. That's the primary real reason why Russia invaded in the first place. Also, they are a psuedo-NATO state at this point, which allows them to be the US's attack dog without activating Article 5 and mobilizing unenthusiastic nations like Germany. And if Ukraine loses, the US can walk away from the whole thing.

In terms of realpolitick, it actually is a good plan for crushing Russia. In terms of preventing wars and keeping people alive, it's a terrible plan.

Except for the bit where the bear steps in, slap's it around, and tells the west Ukraine is still its bitch.

In Russhia, the Tower of Babel was set ablaze. The ceremony was designed to symbolize the end of discord between nations.

Should we start Bible studies and discuss its meaning?
Genesis 11:9 Therefore, He named it Babel, for there the Lord confused the language of the entire earth, and from there the Lord scattered them upon the face of the entire earth.

Rashi says:
and from there… scattered them: This teaches [us] that they have no share in the world to come (Mishnah Sanh. 107b). Now which [sins] were worse, those of the Generation of the Flood or those of the Generation of the Dispersion? The former did not stretch forth their hands against God, whereas the latter did stretch forth their hands against God, to wage war against Him. Nevertheless, the former were drowned, while the latter did not perish from the world. That is because the Generation of the Flood were robbers and there was strife between them, and therefore they were destroyed. But these behaved with love and friendship among themselves, as it is said (verse 1): “one language and uniform words.” Thus you learn that discord is hateful, and that peace is great. — [from Gen. Rabbah 38:6]

Ignoring that Russia is 1337 hackers who have pulled off some of the most advanced state-sponsored hacks in history and are in who the fuck knows where? Look into the Solarwinds hack which basically gave them keys to thousands of kingdoms for an indeterminate amount of time.
Now go look into "NSA Shadowbroker" and know that Russia has a lot of presumed NSA tools which means they can detect them, effectively forcing the NSA to rebuild that from scratch or risk refactoring and re-burning.

Russia can almost certainly shut down all the power in Ukraine at a moment's notice. They may be able to cut your power off at a moment's notice. Sure the US can probably do the same to them, but who gets hurt more by it? Who is scrutinized more for it?
Anyway, my point is just to stop downplaying the Russians. Nukes are really all they need to keep everyone else at bay while they recover but that isn't all they have and invading them is Cold War dreamin'.
