From what I recall it was established pretty early on they wouldn't do a thing against javelins, but would be effective against older systems fired top down like that in an urban environment.

Pretty sure no physical armor can save from tandem warhead at this point, much less from a top-down one.
However, I don't really recall any mentions of their purpose to begin with, so it's a speculation that somehow got blown out of proportion by memers, atleast that's the picture i get.

That's what I honestly think about "cope cages".
I haven't seen many, if any, videos with tanks with them getting blasted through it, yet the internet made it into a founi with a verdict that they provide zero protection against anything, even though that is debatable.

Cope Cages can actually be somewhat useful if the missile or rocket in question isn't using a tandem warhead, other wise it's just the equivalent of flipping it off to try and stop it. Issue is tandem warheads have been basically the standard for all AT since the 70s or 80s, even RPG-7 tandem warheads exist and are employed by Ukraine. So the odds of A.) Being attacked from the top from a launcher not using a tandem warhead and B.) It actually being blocked by the cage, is extremely slim.

Had to share this one. Azov monkey manages to miss a perfect shot on a T-72B3 with an NLAW anti-tank weapon and just grazes it, tank keeps driving like nothing happened. It was practically point-blank and drunk Azov monkey still missed it. What happened to all that NATO training that poor westerners paid for with their tax dollars?

Not a perfect shot in the sense that it was probably too close for the nlaw rocket to actually arm, and it was shot like it was an RPG, which it isn't.

AFAIK, the nlaw/javelin rocket is meant to find it's own way to the top of a tank, and while flying overtop, a shaped charge explodes and rains -downwards- from the rocket and onto the top of the tank. The rocket also needs a small amount of distance from the armor for it's charge to work properly, it can't just bonk onto the tank like that.

TL;DR it was most likely the shot that was the problem, not the rocket.

AFAIK, the nlaw/javelin rocket is meant to find it's own way to the top of a tank, and while flying overtop, a shaped charge explodes and rains -downwards- from the rocket

Both can be fired in direct attack modes, but the Javelin still climbs out after firing even in this mode so it's probably too close. The NLAW can be used like a conventional shoulder launched missile.

Yeah, Slat Armor is a common thing. One reason it's being meme'd on it because it's trying to protect against top attacks. One big issue with "Roof Slat armor" is that it makes spotting a tank easier. Height is a big concern with tanks since it's probably the most important part of it's silhouette, one of the big things people drummed on about the T-14 "Vaporware" is that because everyone was sitting down inside the chassis in front of the turret side by side, both the chassis and especially the turret could be reduced in height, making it harder to spot.

As said above Javelin works a little differently, it has a minimum range of 65m in direct attack mode. NLAW needs only 20m. From the looks of the rocket it's the NLAW. Problem was the guy's aim, he should've led the tank a bit and aimed at the engine compartment. My wild guess is that he was too distracted with filming the video.

The people sending supplies are intent on the greatest damage being done to Russia as is possible. Medical supplies don't really help with that. If you're wounded badly enough to need specialised treatment, then you weren't getting back into the fight anyway.

I get the feeling that this is somewhat the position the Hohol government is taking as well.
