Philosophy Tube / Oliver Lennard / Oliver "Olly" Thorn / Abigail Thorn - Breadtube's Patrick Bateman.

View attachment 3114537

Whoa. I can see this.

Does anyone think this might be Olly's exit? Realizing his transition didn't materially help him as much as he'd wished, realizing a bunch of other flaws in the socially progressive ideology he pushed, getting pissed that he was made to think it was a good idea, and leaving the Left?

Trooning out is the ultimate ideological MLM scheme - those at the top with their dicks lobbed off need those freshly porn addled men at the bottom to buy in. Even if they could admit they made a mistake to themselves they cant admit it to those around them otherwise the whole thing comes crumbling down. I think men prize their ego even more than they prize their own dick.

I think women realising what they have done to their body/nothing has materially changed for them post transition is much more likely - there is also way more of them.

In terms of Olly I think he should go the Trisha Paytas route of unashamedly making vanity projects and owning it lol. Lets be real he does not give a fuck about philosophy. His favourite part seems to be getting dolled up - just forget the pseudo intellectual shit and go full Kim PetrasTube.

I love the Contra "It's a curse" quote - I can feel the disdain dripping from those words. Also can you imagine a gay person saying this to a newly out gay person. How people can lump the T in with the LGB... it is maddening.

I agree, he always came across as dull and derivative. Back when I was a more casual, un-peaked viewer of ContraPoints (and before I even knew Contra's history with Oliver) I always had this feeling that trans princess Oliver's transition was reductive attention seeking (even more than usual transitions, that's got to be quite the accomplishment!) because "reductive attention seeking" seemed to be his thing ever since he began abandoning the "lame nerdery filmed in front of a bookshelf" video format; with the increasing focus on costumes and exhibitionism that any passive viewer could just tell was ripped off of Nyk and all that.

If I can brush aside the sheer fetishism and ugliness of this whole Philosophy Tube project (but not for too long), I just think Oliver's a person who kind of ended up internalizing the western nouveau left's screeching about oppressive white cishet males and his entire online presence (and the phases you described) was him indirectly repenting for his circumstances of birth by trying to show that he's a good ally, that he's actually an abused queer man who's one of them, before ultimately becoming Abigail, the lesbian trans princess who gets literally murdered everyday everytime a feminist opens her mouth about single sex spaces and who deserves our undivided love and support for the brave decision of trooning out in....

.... one of the world's most trans friendly countries. Ok.
He is entirely ego driven, wants the attention and prestige of whatever is hot, but never wants to put in even the bare minimum of effort. I've never watched more than a few seconds of any of his videos, but it's obvious- he started wanting to be taken seriously as a "scholar" and "philosopher" by appearing to be knowledgable with a dusty book shelf, cheap glasses and a turtleneck. When other people pushed the medium and gained massive popularity, he copy the exact same lighting, topics, costumes, backgrounds, etc, with enough changes to avoid a copyright strike and have plausible deniability for casual viewers.

The costumes too are hilarious. The one set in a mechanic's garage is supremely hilarious. He dresses as a panel beater only superficially- what panel beater would find any purpose for a skin-tight latex suit coloured navy blue without pockets? But he gets to pretend that he's "working class" for a few hours while giving some of the worst circular reasoning and tautologies you could expect from Bread Tube's finest. Then doesn't have to actually get his hands dirty and risk soiling those crisp bills I'm sure he makes an accountant spend hours preventing them getting taxed. Finally, he takes the ultimate ego-pill. Who is the most oppressed? Well he can't put on blackface and get away with it yet, but he can put on a dress with coconut shells in a bra, and now he gets to kvetch about how evil his country is despite the fact people like Jim Sterling flee to the UK to dodge taxes and get the poor people to pay for a millionaire's castration surgery.

Like holy fuck, my inheritance is probably going to be a bill for my parent's wedding debt and I still feel like an imposter because I go to university. I can't imagine seriously being born into one of the wealthiest families in Britain, going to an elitist boarding school on the north coast and then literally LARPing as a working class man before demanding poor women go to the back of the line for cancer surgery so I can troon out for the big cummies and Youtube views.

He really is a lolcow who’s insufferableness sucks away the oxygen from his own flame / he will fade away rather than burn out, and we will be left soaking up smaller and smaller rivulets, then dribbles, then sponge marks of milk.

We really need him to do something big, this is unacceptable. :(

Damn straight it is. I paid good money for this cow, I want my gattdam milk. (as my dad would say)

I still have a deep need to go line by line through that article he wrote and just destroy it. As soon as I can I will try but if anyone else wants to give it a try in the meantime, please be my guest!

And you know that stuff about his hobbies being "ironing....baking" is all absolute bullshit. He's even gone off on Twitter and in livestreams more than once....more than a half dozen times, easily....about how his "Philosophy Tube Presenter Persona" is super wholesome and as we were talking about a bit upthread- a bit of an act. Or a lot of an act. So apparently when he "dropped the act" in the Identity video he really didnt. He just dropped one part of "the act" and replaced it with what's turned out to be yet another act ("Abigail!").

I'm thinking of that dude in Game of Thrones who's wearing a fake face but when you take the face off, there's just another false face....and another, and another, and another. Olly's like that. He really is this kinda weird, kinda souless English robot in a meat suit as he once put it.

Man I'm glad I'm not the only one who found that costume hilarious and confusing. If I went to get my car serviced and a dude walked out dressed like that I'd leave lol. It'd be like going to the pharmacy and finding everyone there wearing ball gags.

Seems like a massive problem in the Anglosphere with male champagne socialists. They come from families with names older than most nation states, got to go to schools older than the religion the school (now on paper) teachers and come away with a massive identity crisis. They don't understand how the real world works and think that, because they had money, that everyone would automatically be like them if they had money and because their parents don't just want to throw cash at junkies that they are therefore evil. Never mind that the parents are being fiscally responsible and that having enough property to live well off the income is not the same as having the resources to give everyone a world-class upbringing- "my parents were evil and I must cleanse myself of their sins (but I'm not going to reject that money they left in the will)". This affects people all the way up to the likes of Boris Johnson, it's not just Olly, but what separates him is that he is not old money who could graduate into their father's multinational business and was supposed to have struck out wealth for himself, get a job as the CEO of small investment bank or something, but he grew up too wealthy to want to achieve that. He wants the money but doesn't deserve it, knows he doesn't deserve it but won't give it away, won't give it away but expects everyone else to give their wealth away so that when everyone is magically uplifted he doesn't have to worry about being filthy rich.

Sorry if this is a little off-topic for this thread at the moment, but I think we all just need to press F for the acting career of one Mr. Rhys Tees, Esq:

It's super funny how not even Olly's diehard fans make reference to 'the man who isn't there' device, because of just how truly derange the concept was from the outset. Put in Tees's shoes, the situation would be downright Croenenburgian: imagine you're a struggling actor and you find out you're cast in production that is intended to boost the career of another struggling actor, who maybe bears a slight resemblance to you. Then, when you find the full script you realize to your horror the true reason as to why you were cast: the director sees you as the embodiment of his worst insecurities about himself: a bland, potbellied egotistical mediochre wHiTe MaLe. In his 'stunning and brave' comming out video, olly couldn't even muster the integrity to face up to 'former'(lol) male self, and instead had to pay some poor sap money to turn into an effigy of his own self loathing to sacrificially burn to be (at least in his mind) 'rebirthed anew'. It's almost like an inverse of his skinwalking behaviour towards Nyk if you think about it.

And, yeah I know that this stooge has gone on the record of recounting what an 'honour' and 'priviledge' it was to have helped portray the angst of a transwahman (I think there's a copy of the interview on this threat, but I can't be arsed to find it). But yeeh, the whole use of this device remainds me of the (what I'm informed by purists, is an incorrect) reading of Superman's invention of Clark Kent

They're never gonna hire this person as anything but a background manlet, are they. I can imagine no one wants to hire a 'guy' who needs booster shoes and clever angling in every shot if she's anything short of a tall woman.
*deranged Tom Cruise laughter *

Ah shit, Chube is a bit Cruisey when he does his own raucous fake laugh, always while he’s said soemthing as if it’s so wildly hillarious and surreal he must strugggle to get it out- it’s so transparent exactly what hes trying to denote:

Here we are on the interview/ podcast / whatever-
look at what a good time we’re having / what good fun and a good booking i am!

He's not gonna leave wokeism, those expectations are way too high. Unless there's some kind of mass-leaving of wokeism in the future that he can glom onto, he's going to stick with the grift he feels works. Not that the tranny grift is working so far

"Passing" seems to be a slippery concept because it also puts the entire grift and special status of being trans at risk. If becoming transgender was as simple as just swapping gender, and assuming that it was a reasonably successful procedure that could fool at least a majority of people ie. you 'pass', they would just get it over with and that would be the end of it. They wouldn't be a 'trans woman', they would just be a woman.

I'm aware that being seen as a real woman is something they argue all the time is what they want. But you have to question, when you look at people like Olly's narcissistic behavior - is it really? If he did manage to pass and then just quietly lived his life as a woman from then on, without yapping 24/7 about "TRAAAANS POWER", he wouldn't be the center of attention any more. It's a pattern i've seen with many trannies where they seem to actually be most content with being a sort of victimized third wheel than actually fulfilling their objective of passing.

If medical technology was advanced enough that anyone could at any time change their gender in a way that is 100% convincing, at least outwardly, most of these hyper vocal trans power people would move on to some different way of differentiating themselves from the rest of society.

“Disabled” is one that a lot of obvious borderlines use that hasn’t quite taken off the way that trans identity has

Sometimes I wonder what the next thing will be

Polyamory is another that has failed to gain serious traction though things were looking bleak for a bit there… ppl generally now see it for what it is

so he's still on the up? shit i thought he was slowly diminishing
He is on a slide, yes. Subbing to a YouTube channel or following on Twitter is easy and free; those numbers only matter to sponsor deals based on views within a certain time frame (and which are considerable money!). His Patreon, however, has had a notable decrease since his tranny height of around 7.9k. When I started paying attention to the Lindsay Ellis extended universe of which Olly is part, and the money they bring in via paypigs, Chube was around #100 in the top 1k creators on Patreon (by number of patreons). He is now around #134, though this will probably bounce up to around #125 after the start of the new month.
PT_slide1.png
He's still about 500 paypigs up from his pre-troon numbers, but that negative slope is undeniable. His fanbase isn't as histrionic as Hontra's though, so rather than make dramatic proclamations about WHY they just HAD to UNSUB from Olly, people (for example, women who found Olly attractive but find Abi offputting) have just quietly left.

8:40- Discusses how he has rules for the "presenter persona" that he adopts on the show- he tries to never get angry or mean on the show and tries to never single anyone out to make them feel bad. He says that this is consistent across all of his branding (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Basically just rehashing what he already said last livestream about how he cultivates a nicer persona on the internet and he's not perfect in person. Idk if I've already said this but I do feel this is him trying to admit that he's flawed in order to address the critiques he's been getting for being rather narcissistic.
13:45- Interviewer asks an interesting question about whether he feels as though he's ceding ground to the opposition by not engaging in debate or specifically singling out people in particular to criticize. Olly goes on a tangent about how he does often think about how he could reach people that are being deliberately ignorant, and of course he singles out "transphobes" in particular as a group that is "willfully ignorant". He ultimately says that the issue the interviewer brought up is a fair criticism, but his unwillingness to be nasty or engage in debate is what has been able to make the channel last as long as it has. Slight shade towards other Breadtubers when he says that he has seen other creators get into one-on-one fights with other creators and it does take a lot out of them. He says that if you don't say anything rude about anyone then eventually your enemies will cancel themselves.
18:10- Says that if the Philosophy Tube channel does end then he would like to write "Philosophy Tube: The Book", and already has a list of chapters that the book would contain.

32:00- "Can I tell this? Yeah I can tell this story. When I started out I bought a dress, as I was beginning what I needed to do because I was still very much in denial. I said 'well, I'll tell you what. I'm going to buy a dress. I'm going to buy the ugliest, nastiest, cheapest dress I possibly can. How could I ever think this?!' and then I'll put the dress away and then I'll be able to move on with my life and I'll never need to do this and I'll be able to put all these thoughts away.' LOL

:story::story::story::story::story::story::story::story::story::story::story::story:
Olly casting somebody else to play himself is one of those underrated bits of total narcissistic insanity he pulled off.

Its seriously next level stuff, Oliver Thorn is such a major figure in world history that he's getting the jump on the biopic casting 20 years from now when Timothée Chalamet wins an oscar for 'Women and Gahls: the Abigail Thorn story' by graciously casting a struggling actor as his pre-transition self now before he gets actually famous.

I can't even think of any filmmaker or such who's had somebody play themselves in something they are making themselves without it being some kind of weird art thing like Charlie Kaufman's Adaptation. And hopefully it goes without saying that Olly is not Charlie Kaufman.

that part is just wow

it's so typical for agps. they often wear the ugliest clothes that they can find and they believe it makes them incredibly hot. and it seems like it wasn't a one time accident for him, he's been wearing shitty and nasty clothes since his transition. I don't expect him to be a fashion icon, but those outfits are tragic, aside from the fact that they don't fit him since they're made for women, obviously

Women=dresses

I'm not a sexist btw, in fact you are the bigot for thinking as such!

Seriously that's the thing that really drives me fucking insane about this line of thought, we basically have Oliver right here out right admitting that the facile, surface level elements of femininity are what really attracted him to becoming trans, and that's hardly unusual, I've listened to a huge amount of stories of trans people over the years and almost all the time this idea that wearing the pretty dress revealed to them that they are in fact a true woman is out there front and centre in their understanding of womanness.

And yet to suggest that this is at best a ridiculously flawed understanding of what it means to be a woman that is really quite insulting towards the experiences and existence of actual women is seen as a horrible thing to say that victimizes trans women. But further than that I always hear people like this get super-offended about this characterization even if its basically repeating their own stated experiences back to them, they have to try and spin it as something deeper and a core part of their being and that suggesting that they are ultimately drawn to the trappings of society's (typically fungible and arbitrary) presentation of femininity, devoid of the real material elements that actually make somebody the sex they are, is the worst possible thing you can say, even when its a basic extrapolation from their experiences as they've described them.

OMG NOOOOOOO CHELSEA WHY

Lol I love how the host basically asks what woman archetype did you aspire to be and he says "the closer you can get to Kate Middleton the easier time you are going to have". Makes sense as his formative university years have been alongside Barbour coat wearing, pearl adorned, Hunter wellington booted women who would have that "bants" persona.

He has totally missed the mark in his skin walking as he looks like hes wearing a George by Asda dress and a swarovski heart pendant someone would buy for a tween. I know we have talked about his hair before but he did have relatively hair as a man but those cross sex hormones make it look like shit now. Where's that Middleton blowout?

Also he/his stylist buys the cheapest clothes and PT makes so much fucking money - its just a joke to have him on a channel dedicated to personal finance.
