From what I've been reading about Ukrainian-Russian relations, there seems to be a view from a lot of Ukrainians that the whole "Ukrainians and Russian are brothers" shit mainly comes from Russia, not really mutual, and some compare it to the mentality of a domestic abuser, Ukrainians suffered hard under Soviet Leadership, and Russia keeps it under wraps by trying to argue that those atrocities affected Russians too, or completely ignore the matter. Although these views are much more popular in the western regions and also predate the invasion.
They got treated as less than Russian, but they were definitely way higher up on the totem pole than the people from the caucuses or the non slav areas.
Cali gives you rebates on electric cars.
I don't agree with the gas rebates. Like it's only cause we have not fucking fixed housing is why poor people need to commute the fuck into the major metros.
Just work from home green liberal state. It's better for the env bruh.
Now I really don't see why the Serbs have such a hardon for Russians, when Ukrainians are their spitting image. They're both God's Chosen People, and a ten millenia old Empire founded by people who personally descended from Heaven, but they never got anywhere due to being oppressed by the lesser races surrounding them. :^)

Convenient post as in the A&N thread when I claimed Ukraine had shelled civilian places in the Donbas region I got told it was fake and that separatists did it. That place is like a mini-redditsville.
First time seeing him and watching it now, is he a known shill or anything?
@дядя Боря You made the strongest claim regarding this, if you get a chance can you check out the video (and suffer his fucking strong american accent) and share thoughts?
The guys entire channel is amazing. He is obviously a little....spectrum. But I don't care, he's a nice guy, and I hope he doesn't get blown up because he is doing amazing work.
His pinned video from the Donbass in 2016 is nuts, almost getting hit by 152mm or bigger Ukrainian artillery and not shitting his pants (unconfirmed) is downright badass.

I did a quick Google search of him last night and didn't see anyone screaming he was one, but considering he was being escorted by either a Russian or Russian allied guy in his one video touring the alleged azov base, I can see where there would be suspicions of it.

Unconfirmed, I think he is just a crazy dude who sees what is going on. He tends to lean into civilians getting fucked up by Ukrainians pretty hard, and was embedded with Russians in Donbass for a time.
I haven't vetted him in any way. I haven't vetted Zelensky either. Oh wait.

Yeah I noticed the soldiers and was surprised at how little they cared about his presence. I won't expect any Russian-aligned war crime footage from him lol
That said he's not exactly on the front in this video so I assume he's away from the actual fighting but close enough to get burnt, so to speak.
It's notable to me primarily due to the civilian perspective and I know enough to know the subtitles aren't bullshit.

The being embedded with the Russians makes me treat him with a degree of skepticism, just because they're definitely going to be controlling what he sees and reports. That said that's not terribly different from reporters embedded with any other country.
@Borscht I'm sorry that you're Russian but I'm curious. It's been a month. You spend lotta time on a niche site, mentioned being a working bee. So your job must be related to the tech industry. How's the conflicting impacting the life of Russians in general and yours in particular? Please tell us without power-levelling.
The initial shock wore off, and people are adapting to the new normal. Once the torture videos began trickling in, the opposition to the war noticeably went down. The main argument is "If all Russians must bear collective responsibility for the war, why do all Ukraineans not get demonized for the Azov atrocities?" The effect of sanctions predictably galvanized all but the most devoted liberals (most of whom left in the first days anyway) against the West, so any belief of goodwill on the part of the enlightened Europe is gone for good along with the belief in its sanity. Cancelling the long-dead Tchaikovsky, Dostoyevsky and Gagarin convinced many people EU is retarded.
Most of big businessess are still waiting for the dust to settle, not working but not pulling out either. China and South Korea are scrambling to fill the consumer niches. Plenty of European companies continue doing business unofficially, admitting they do not wish to leave but are facing strong public and government pressure to do so. For example, one of our partners in Great Britain continues to provide tech support through their employers' personal phones to avoid trouble. Some of our new products will be released via a Greek proxy to avoid the "boycott Russians" stigma.
Most are pessimistic about the economy's long term prospects - one does not simply build and entire production chain for semiconductors in an open field in a year, or even a decade - but local solutions are cropping up where possible. For example, one of the most noticeable effects of the crisis was the ballooning cost of office paper: most of the bleaching agents used in its manufacture were imported from Finland, so the price more than doubled over this month. Now many stores just email you the check instead of printing it out and a local factory developed a process that does not require bleach at all. It's not as pretty, but cheaper and less harmful to the enviroment, so two birds with one stone I guess?
I can attest that all marketing from the EU has gone dry, but the development largely continues apace. If no new orders come after the current projects are complete, I am learning Chinese. New schools are opening up every day.
