Its incredibly ironic that Jim Sterling of all people is complaining about people saying mean things on the internet, his shitck for the longest time was being an edgy cunt and what brought him real notoriety was having a slap fight with Digital Homocide. The Twitter censors that trannies often cry to came for one them. Naturally, Jim immediately whining about how people who make fun of him for being an AGP freak aren't banned on sight-

He fucked up his IRL footage so instead you get some dumb intro/outro.Holy shit, no fugly pic of himself this week on the thumbnail?
You should have just put a YongYea video on the topic instead and just said it was the newest Jimquisition.Gran Turismo 7 something or other:
Yes Jim, there's absolutely nothing controversial about a man suddenly becoming national champion in a sport after he started competing against women instead of other men.The Twitter censors that trannies often cry to came for one them. Could've just posted one of his many, many videos complaining about microtransactions and you wouldn't be the wiser. You should have just put a YongYea video on the topic instead and just said it was the newest Jimquisition.
Say whatever I will about Yong being boring, at least he just gets to the fucking point - least the last time I actually watched his shit anyway. Sure, guy stretches his videos for ad rev, but that’s the Youtube Grift, everyone does it.You should have just put a YongYea video on the topic instead and just said it was the newest Jimquisition.
If this theoretical TRO video is as bad as the Blaire White with the constant need to virtue signal about how “I’m not like this evil, vile person. I’m one of the good ones!” I’ll beat that smug faggot like I’m some unholy combination of Ike Turner and Joe Jackson.I can maybe see TheRightOpinion doing a piece if Jim ever does something really stupid that catapults him into the public eye, but ultimately I think the youtube views will dry up and he'll just retreat to Twitter to bitch about transphobia and beg for money.
To be Moderately fair, jims been blacklisted from all review copies by almost every company. Which is more a reflection of why game journalism is a joke than himself. I agree that if you're late by weeks because you supposedly actually finished the game and have genuine insight, your review should cover issues that normal jounos missed in their easy mode 2 hour playtime review. But hes only equally as shitty not more shitty than all the other youtube game journos.I think this video well represents a constant issue with his format, that the stuff he covers in videos is almost never relevent when the video comes out. GT7 has been out for just over three weeks and these issues have been there since the launch so it feels like he's just going for low hanging fruit he knows he can use to push out a video using the same tired old script but with the name of the game and dev swapped out.
Why the fuck did he try and mimic the Cars look in the cheepest way possible?Gran Turismo 7 something or other:
I wouldn't shit on someone for being late to the party with a review because they didn't get early access copies or they wanted to finish the game but thats not the case here, I doubt he's even played GT7. The fact is that he doesn't see himself as a game journo and that he talks about video games in his Jimquisition episodes seems almost like he's obliged to mention them so he can keep on the people on the edge of dropping off. Here is what he describes JQ as on his Patreon (YT says roughly the same thing)To be Moderately fair, jims been blacklisted from all review copies by almost every company. I unsubbed from channels like Yong and ReviewTechUSA cause I got tired of my feed being full of a dozen videos on the same story week to week, but I will say in their favour they're usually updating an ongoing story with each video, even if the core topic is the same. That's how actual news --and the YouTube grift-- works, so I get it, I just prefer to get all my news collected in a daily round-up like my boy Spawnwave does.Say whatever I will about Yong being boring, at least he just gets to the fucking point - least the last time I actually watched his shit anyway. Gone home really isn't as horrible as the people who hated it on /v/ made it out to be imo. For a 3-4 hour interactive fiction "game" it's fine. The story isn't anything mind blowing but it's passable and like you said the atmosphere is well done and I really enjoy the soundtrack. They nail the mid 90s American home very well. The game dev's clearly put time and effort into making it and that shows. I think if it had been marketed as what it was, a short story driven game and sold for a lower price it would have been fine.Where Gone Home unironically deserves credit is it's recreation of a house circa 1995, they really captured a lot of details, sometimes real subtle ones, that brought back memories myself.
It was done realistically rather than in a cheaper nostalgia way, like for example the fact that the sister owns a SNES, which is what I was playing in 1995, than a then brand new PlayStation which would have been a lot less likely.
And some of the general atmosphere was neat, like the storm warning on the TV.
As soon as I realized where the story was going though I was meh on that though and I never played any of the other walking simulators because the novelty wore off fast.
It's automated you dummy. Twitter only steps in when you appeal. The URL literally could have triggered this. The Twitter censors that trannies often cry to came for one them. Naturally, Jim immediately whining about how people who make fun of him for being an AGP freak aren't banned on sight-

People trashed that game because the only reason we heard about it was that it made good political fodder for the likes of Kotaku et al. It was a barely passable first-year student film equivalent that got 9/10s. When so much of the talk and praise surrounding any piece of media is meta and not about the product itself (eg: if someone gave a 1/10 to a Russian game for obvious reasons today) people will swing in the opposite direction when it turns out the product itself is actually just meh.Gone home really isn't as horrible as the people who hated it on /v/ made it out to be imo. I think for people like Jimbo they see themselves as the plucky underdog now they’ve trooned out and his identity matters more than the content he produces since it provides more status in his social circle.Instead of bitching at his 'transphobic' audience, Jim needs to ask himself: What incentive is there for people to watch his content? What's his USP?

It's also an easy way to deflect criticism. "Oh, you wouldn't be saying that if I was still a cis man!" No, we all thought you were shit ten years ago, Sterling.I think for people like Jimbo they see themselves as the plucky underdog now they’ve trooned out and his identity matters more than the content he produces since it provides more status in his social circle.
I bet he’d rather make a video that annoys groups he doesn’t like than a video that gets a lot of views from general audiences.
You know what? I actually didn't. 10 years ago (or whenever), there was a time where he made entertaining videos. Yes, it was mostly shitting on bad games on steam and shitting on publishers (both rightly so), but I enjoyed his shtick. He was pretty funny and his edgy humor was right up my alley. It's also an easy way to deflect criticism. "Oh, you wouldn't be saying that if I was still a cis man!" No, we all thought you were shit ten years ago, Sterling.
His current antics make me be ashamed that I ever enjoyed his content in the first place. And that sucks. Not only can I not enjoy stuff in [current year], I can't even enjoy having enjoyed stuff in [past year].
As I've said before, its the worst of both worlds, his output is too slow and rigid to be timely and to ride the wave of whatever the current popular talking point is, and he doesn't go into enough depth in his videos to make a more in depth examination of a game like Gran Turismo 7 that might work as a video essay style video where people are willing to wait much longer for that kind of content.I think this video well represents a constant issue with his format, that the stuff he covers in videos is almost never relevent when the video comes out.
