President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

I hope they got enough to where their skin peels off, that they didn't shoot the CO and deserted the moment he gave orders to dig trenches there is proof their grunts are illiterate buck broken idiots because I'm sure there were warning signs all over the area.

Also shows how much Russians value their people, they're not even worth getting them the most basic anti-radiation protection, much less any fucking consideration for their well being.

Russians were the ones responsible for cleaning Chernobyl up and fate of liquidators taught them nothing. I wonder if modern russians are even aware of Chernobyl or are they taught the disaster is western lies and propaganda aimed at making their glorious empire look incompetent.
Every day that passes the Russian army looks more like the Imperial Guard getting pushed into a meat grinder by a commissar.

Weird guns in Ukraine, like modified Maxim guns, Mosen Nagants, PKTs from tanks for the infantryman, MP40, PPS43 'taking grandpa for a walk.' Phone post so no embedding. Not sure it was posted, but shows a wonderful reuse of old equipment updated to remain useful.

Apparently, most people in Russia are unaware about Chernobyl in details, and most thought the US and CIA are actually responsible for it. Something about Soviet propaganda of Chernobyl still going to this day in Russia
Soviet? USSR acknowledged the tragedy, reluctantly so but they did and when it was Spitak Earthquake, they weren't lying through their teeth this time.

No, this is entirely a vatnigger perversion of history, much like their "veteran" parades, where randos are presented as actual WWII vets.

Medvedev says Poland looks at Ukrainian territory as a coveted piece

Russian Security Council deputy chairman Dmitriy Medvedev has said that Poland is looking at the territory of Ukraine as a coveted piece of land. He wrote this in an article for the Sputnik Polska news agency.
"Polish television shamelessly shows a map of the partition of this unhappy country, where a number of its western regions are included in Poland," Medvedev said.
He noted that it was impossible to annex part of Ukraine to Poland legally, the Ukrainians might fight back harshly, and other European countries might condemn such an attempt by Warsaw.
"But Warsaw has a long-proven method to sweeten the pill and justify its dishonourable actions. To do this, it masterfully uses anti-Russian rhetoric, every time turning it into hysteria," the deputy chairman of the Security Council said.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at a press conference that today Russophobia has become mainstream in Europe and this is the reality in which we have to function.

@Tovarisz Russians are like a jealous ex, aren't they?

Did they go fishing in the nearby lake too?

"Evrika! Look Dimitri, these blyats have abandoned a nuclear power plant fortress! What a defendable position they've just given us! We could use this as a base of operations, there's even wildlife abundant with extra limbs for us to hunt! A lake for us to fish, trees for campfires & the soil so rich for local agriculture, truly this is God's paradise! Come, Dimitri, we have fortifications to build.

Don't worry about core four, we'll use that as a latrine."
How soon until one of them starts chanting out "SLAVA MONOLITA!", though? Only a matter of time until the Wish Granter awakens.

Russians are desperately trying to play to the Polish far right nationalists who say "Lviv is Polish" and trying to divide Polish society. There is a party that does have pro-Russia rhetoric and it seems to have fallen off of the poll results.

It's a fucking meme, Russia and China are probably the only two countries left (ones that normies are aware exist anyway) that give a fuck about expanding their territory, everyone else figured out other ways to expand their influence.

Beyond that yeah, they are like a jealous ex, they hate the fact people in bumfuck nowhere village, Poland, have better access to electricity and running water then Boris does just outside of Moscow.

I've read that some Russian soldiers were telling their mothers over the phone that Ukraine is the first time they saw street lights.

I really believe Russia just wants to make sure what once was it's "People's Republics" doesn't do better than Russia itself because even from behind the curtain, Russians can see they're getting fucked over and if Ukraine and Poland can do better then they do it makes the Russian Power Fantasy go straight to hell.

Lol, that was quick.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on Tuesday that Ukrainian refugees should not be integrated into Danish society, because after some time they should go home to rebuild their country, Associated Press reports.

"The refugee status is temporary, so these people will need to return and help rebuild their homeland when the opportunity arises," she said in the parliament.

The agency notes that according to Danish legislation, Ukrainian refugees will be able to stay in this country for a maximum of two years, they can work, get an education. They will have access to medical services.

Does this make ukies officially lower on subhuman ladder than goatfuckers? Because I don't remember eurocucks giving up on them that quick.

Too white, funnily enough Ukrainians don't even really want to go beyond Poland, Germans sent some busses for 100 people to nearby Polish cities with a lot of them, couldn't be filled as no one wanted to go to Germany, Ukrainians don't want to go to Sweden because of the meme that is Malmo and stories of it being "Rape capital of europe" (keep in mind, most Ukrainian refugees are actually women and children, not 20yo dudes claiming to be uwu cute brown baby boys)

Sure, some use the opportunity to go further west than they otherwise could but it's a surprisingly small number of people.

Interestingly, over 50% of Poles don't want a migrant distribution system either and would rather take € to support the refugees in Poland, it's from a government poll and I wouldn't trust those for anything from any country.

Hah, nice one. My friend tried to make his mother a refugee status in Denmark, but guess what - he wasn't able to find a reservation in any police station. In all Denmark. Yes, there are so many of them.

Also, you can't even imagine how corrupt ukraine border guards are.

Nah, absolutely everyone wants to expand their territory. It's just that Russia and China (or just China now really) are the only two countries that can/could probably get away with it.

If Poland could get away with annexing Eastern Europe and revive the Intermarium idea, they'd absolutely go for it. Russia also ain't exactly wrong that Polish society still nurtures a degree of butthurt towards Ukraine for owning territory that they rightfully consider theirs, I still remember the Polish president's Twitter feed being flooded by Poles talking trash about Ukrainians when he mentioned Poland sending help to Ukraine before the war started.

Mind you not defending Russian rhetoric here but Poles are their own special brand of retarded.
Lol, that was quick.

Nah, this is par for the course with the recent crackdown on refugees in western Europe. Even Ukrainians in 2014 didn't get this kind of treatment.

Western Europeans are just hyper-racist towards eastern ones. Better than goatfuckers but still toilet-cleaning trash.

There's a good blog post who confirm then Zelensky isn't white as snow as he pretended.
There is serious concern that Zelensky is not negotiating in good faith and he is doing precisely the opposite of what he claimed he would do if elected. Why does Zelensky refuse to concede the Russian areas when in fact the border of Ukraine was drawn by the Soviet Union for administrative purposes. This is why the Donbas and Crimea were merely allocated to Ukraine and were never historically occupied by the Ukrainian people. Why put his entire country at risk and tell his citizens to kill Russian troops for what? This is as if Mexico demands the return of Texas because it use to be theirs despite the fact it is occupied by Americans.

There is serious concern that Zelensky is truly being told what to do by the Neocons like Hillary who cannot sleep at night as long as Russia and China exist. Nobody in the press will dare to reveal that it was Hillary who approved the bankers in trying to take over Russia by blackmailing Yeltsin. That is why Yeltsin turned to Putin in 1999, to begin with.

Russians are desperately trying to play to the Polish far right nationalists who say "Lviv is Polish" and trying to divide Polish society.

they do the same with Hungary, it's 21st century, no one owns any land anyway, it's all about economic strength of the state and people that's more important than actual real estate that could be legally bought, leased and exploited.

Kadyrov's Tic Tok monkeys are desperate to shoot something, shit they are not going to fix it, so why not shoot at something that doesn't shoot back.

I need half a day of instruction with a boot to consistently hit that target with a plain jane issued AK74 and irons. This is just sad, despite being touted elite, these monkeys are nothing more than LARPers in expensive gear (and some in elite ladies Prada boots)

If we start setting borders solely on what nationality occupies what territory the world would become hilariously partitioned.

Also you'd think that if eastern Ukrainians really felt Russian they wouldn't give two shits what Zelensky wants and legitimately welcome Russian forces with Flowers and cheers and you can't convince me that Russia is taking a month just to eliminate Azov battalion in areas where supposedly everyone would be interested in handing Azov members to Russians.

Maybe, just maybe, Ukrainians, even Rus speaking ones, just don't want to be a part of Russia or even be under it's influence and look like their north neighbours?

Edit: It's too fucking bad Russia is ran by retards who sell and partition land in idiotic ways and have been ran by such idiots for a very long time but it's on them, they made their borders the way they are and they can drink themselves to death within them.
