That's one thing I've always found funny about protestants. A lot of them hate alcohol and think it's something incredibly sinful but historically, the best booze have always been made by monks. Hell, there are still some monasteries that stay afloat by selling beer, wine, mead.
A lot of the “anti-alcohol” Protestants were rather extreme (Puritans come to mind) and kind of went on a “fuck you dad!” towards the Catholic Church and did everything opposite out of some form of spite I guess. Catholic monks made and perfected alcohol for hundreds of years? Kill the past, we’re here now!

Something like that I believe. The Catholic Church was doing some irritating stuff back in the day, so I can see many Protestants just going overboard. Sad really. Probably held back art, science, and engineering for decades (not to mention the whole 30 year war fracas).

More like proof Zelensky's bastion of European democracy is doing Stalinist purges now. He banned how many political parties last week? 8? 12?
Every government uses war to purge its senior officer Cadre of insufferable careerists. Russia is doing this too. With respect to the Ukrainian Military its been a slap fight since 2014 between the old school former Soviet officers and the young guns that want an American Doctrine Army. Just prior to this war Zelensky did a power move and put the American Army Doctrine leader in charge of the entire Generals Staff.

He's since delivered results, which means the Soviet Doctrine faction is getting the boot.

The Ruble seems to have mostly recovered now that the sanctions have proven to do more harm to the USA and other countries than Russia:

Doesn't mean much for Russia itself, but probably means bad things for Globohomo.

Remember that safe drinking water is a relatively recent thing, before you either drink alcohol just to be safe or literally pray not to be mollested by tapeworms for every sip of water you drink. And yeah, if you're doing something for hundreds of years, you better be good at it.

That might explain while almost every stock on the NYSE dropped in the last hour or so before New York markets closed. RIP, lol.

At least my Exxon-Mobil stock pays dividends even if their shares drop…

EDIT: looked at time window incorrectly. May not be relevant but the NYSE is acting funny while Russia is staying stagnantly shitty instead of getting more shitty due to sanctions.

Weirdly, it seems like NYT understated what he said. He actually just called them flat-out traitors.

Ukrainian sources say they were Serhiy Kryvoruchko, head of the SBU in Kherson and Andriy Naumov, head of department of internal security.
A fun game to play is "What would everyone be saying about this if it was the other side who did this?"

"Unhinged Putin, #losing, breaks down calling everyone around him traitors and foolishly firing staff in tantrum!"

IAEA reporting that the Ukrainian Government is once again in control of the Chernobyl Facility. It has no information on the current exposure to the Russian Soldiers leaving the exclusion area and is in consultation with the Russian Government on the issue.

Largely formality, since "ukrainian control" basically means the on site staff are working without Russians in the building. I seriously hope Russia is honest about what happened to its troops in the exclusion zone. Because if what the facility staff said is true those men are in deep shit and cannot be helped by a hospital in Belarus. They need highly specialized care.

There have been no far reaching sanctions of any consequence imposed on Russia and wont be for some time, only asset freezes/seizures that harm the governments balance sheet and ones that target the civil aerospace industry which will continue to gradually feel the effects over the coming weeks/months.
This is one of the most comprehensive sanction regimes ever. The fact that it couldn’t collapse the Russian economy and currency based on perception alone is already terrible news for America and the EU.

Even though I call bullshit on the ARS, I buy at least a few men were exceptional enough to dig a trench or foxhole, in that case those men are definitely going to die of cancer within the next 30 years.

Thank you. Needed an excuse to post this:

Whoops, only had a thumbnail saved. FIxed.

The decision whether to continue wasting the lives of soliders and civilians should be Ukraine's to make, not England's. Encouraging Zelensky to sacrifice heaps of his countrymen is no skin off Boris Johnson's teeth and is downright ghoulish.
"Johnson has said that he wants allies to intensify sanctions until all Russian forces have left Ukraine, including Crimea."

Covid really scrambled his brain, worse than his hair it looks like,

They are going to die within the next 3 weeks. The men who ran up onto the roof of Reactor 4 have better odds then some mongoloid not even wearing a mask digging a fox hole in the red forest. Beta Waves are harmless at 1 meter. Your skin can deflect it like it does solar radiation.

But if you breathe in particulate matter emitting beta Waves, your body is getting blasted from the inside out at point blank range. There is no surviving it. Not without urgent intervention, and even then odds are not good.

I don't know if I'd necessarily call anyone who did that exceptional. Even with all we know about radiation now, on average the limit of most people's knowledge is "radiation bad". Even a good portion of people who know more, don't know much more than that. If they weren't warned about the danger, odds are it wouldn't have even crossed their minds. I mean after all, people do go there for tourism now, so in most peoples minds, how dangerous could it really be?

lol no it isn't, certainly not from the perspective of the US. We further limited transactions with a few banks that and added a few individuals to our blacklists.

Our hands are tied for the time being on account of Europe's exposure to the Russian energy market and so haven't been able to target third parties. The real shit will start once that's possible.

If so, I feel bad for those guys, I just hope they don't give them the Ouchi treatment, and let them die.
