Part of me wants to believe that the reports of Russian troops getting acute radiation syndrome after digging trenches in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone are just propaganda. Surely the Russian military would only send soldiers with advanced NBC training who knew what they were doing. Like the NBC Protection troops. People who know how to mitigate the risk from radioactive contamination. Plus the zone isn't nearly as dangerous as it used to be and you'd have to really go looking for trouble to actually get ARS. Something stupid like digging in the wrong spot, or hanging around abandoned cleanup equipment for too long. The reports of sickness were either made up, or just something mundane like a virus or food poisoning turning into rumors.

But considering the past 75 years of Russian attitudes towards radiation, it's actually plausible that the Russians dug trenches right into the plutonium laden subsoil, without protective gear, contaminated themselves badly, and now have mild ARS. What a time to be alive.

I'm going to remain skeptical of those reports until I see bodies or live prisoner's tbh. I could definitely see it being true, but I think we all know how valuable "unconfirmed reports" are by now.
If the Russians captured western glowies then we'll never know for certain if the Russian are planning to use them as a bargaining chip.

"Irina Gordievich was denazified today in Lugansk...She was famous for robbing people in Donbas, and killing civilians"
photo_2022-03-31_22-39-42.jpg photo_2022-03-31_22-39-40.jpg

Her bio: "Irina Gordievich was born in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, grew up and, like all Westerners, lived half-starved (they have no factories or land there - only stones and mushrooms), and therefore migrated from there to Greece to work, to wash the assholes of Greeks in nursing homes for three euros.
In 2014, the Holy Maidan knocked on her head, because it promised all zarobitchans in Europe that visas to Europe would be free, and the rogues ran to the Maidan, because they did not want to constantly pay for visas for 35 euros.
After the Holy Maidan, she joined the police battalion "Lugansk-1" and went to rob and kill residents of the Luhansk region.
Actually, all the Maidan residents voluntarily received cop's kiva from Avakov and robbed Donbass not only for themselves, but also shared with Avakov.
Kiva was the cashier in 2014, he collected the loot from the police battalions and took Avakov and Turchinov to Kiev.
Now Irina's life path has been completed in the Luhansk region, only in the morgue were interested in her breast decoration in the form of a swastika. THIS A DESCRIPTION OF HER LIFE THAT WE HAVE FOUND..."

Looks like Russian license plates at least from what I can see from google.
Way I see it the Belgorod raid was mainly a Doolittle Raid situation, although both the ammo dump and fuel depot that was supporting the Kharkiv and Ilzum offensives being destroyed or heavily damaged will undoubtedly be at least a minor blow to both of their logistic capabilities, Ukraine has still lost more in the way of those, but expect to see this footage blasted on their propaganda networks, and I admit it makes for some good propaganda and puts an egg on Russia's face after how much they boast about "Destroying Ukraine's Airforce" and hyping up their SAMs (which are good, but a low flying aircraft still beats it like any other SAM)

I don't really think of it like that, for starters the Doolittle raid was functionaly a suicide mission with all aircraft lost, and almost no damage of note done, with the exception of slightly delaying the launch of a new light carrier. Hitting fuel and munitions has a tangible effect beyond the morale boost.

“Since they adopted sanctions against us, we’re going to f*ck them. Now they’ll have to buy rubles on the Moscow Exchange to buy gas from us. But that's just the beginning. Now we're going to f*ck them all.”

Every world in that article is correct.

"We’ve passed the point of no return,” says a source close to the Kremlin. “Everyone understands that there will be peace, but that this peace won't return the life we had before.”
The people I interviewed said in one voice that, for many ordinary citizens — at least until there is a big increase in unemployment — the sanctions and other economic and political consequences of the war have had the opposite effect from what Western countries may have intended. The mass withdrawal of Western brands (IKEA, Apple, Zara, McDonald's, Carlsberg, etc.), the suspension of businesses, the flight ban, the devaluation of the ruble, the difficulty of buying dollars and euros — all of this has made many Russians think that the whole world is against them, and this makes them behave in a certain way.
"When I saw what they were doing to those poor Paralympians, that was it for me... I don't care about iPhones, I can use a Chinese phone. I have a German car — let me drive a Chinese or Russian one instead. Now I understand that the boss is right, that this whole thing had to happen one way or another. They would have imposed these sanctions anyway," says a high-ranking civil servant, who a month ago was saying that Russia’s imperial ambitions should be manifested in other ways, such as by growing a strong economy.
Middle-aged people of about 45-50 years old, who caught the end of the Soviet era in their youth, are also continuing their affairs — without any special enthusiasm, but with understanding and acceptance of the situation. “Now it’s much more important to come to understand how we will live in these conditions,” says a source in this age category, who holds a high position in the power hierarchy and is considered a technocrat. “Yes, we’ll have to eat roots and give birth in the fields,” sadly ironizes another source in this age category. “But what are the other options?”
The most frustrated are the 35-40-year-olds who have lost most of their recent accomplishments. Some feel abandoned and feel resentful of their fellow citizens who have left the country and who, in their opinion, are trying to teach them from abroad how to live and how to overthrow the regime. “I want to tell them: just shut up,” says one of my youngest sources, who is on the front lines of the state's struggle with the consequences of Western sanctions. Another young civil servant who does not support the war says that he feels trapped: It’s unbearable to stay, but it’s impossible to quit and leave.
Every. Word.

It's fun to see the amount of ass-hiding about Neo-Nazism in the Azov Battalion by the Left.
It went from:
-There is a Neo-Nazi paramilitary organization in Ukraine and that's bad (before the war)
-They're Neo-Nazis, but Ukraine needs every man for the fight
-Only the founders and some of the people in power are Neo-Nazis
-Most of them are just ultranationalist
-Are their really any Neo-Nazis in the battalion?

And Destiny's new hot take:
They were just mostly nationalist. And it doesn't matter anyways.
starts at 27:00 in to about 43:00.

The state of Russian AA might quiet some of the voices claiming the A-10 is obsolete and would just get ripped to pieces by a wall of Russian AA. If an Mi-24 can slip in and out and blow up Russian infrastructure you can do it with an A-10

seeing that only 7 A-10's have been shot down in combat I like their odds against regular AA. They're flying tanks.

Maybe, maybe not, Russia and Ukraine have each lost several su 25s during this war. I suspect Russia will be keeping more fighters in the air if possible now to prevent this from happening again. This could just have been a one off pure dumb luck deal, and keep in mind the a 10 has only gone into contested airspace twice. Other than that, it's primarily been used as a jet powered COIN aircraft with very little risk of being shot down.

Edit: I should also add, that original NATO projections for survivability in the event of a conflict with the Warsaw Pact involved every single one shot down within two weeks.

Some spicy news from Odessa:

Commander of local territorial defence Andrey Kislovskiy got caught in an underground brothel with a tranny.
This brothel is situated in a hotel "Nemo" which he owns. Dolphinarium serves as a cover for a brother there. Kislovskiy's family owns a big private zoo in Odessa and some tourism business in Crimea. He is also a politician.
No specific reason for why he had to be detained. I bet it's something along the lines of having ties with Russia.

So yeah, continuation of businesses dealing with other business.

Wow, Ukraine really is a bastion of modern Western civilization

That old thing is going to avoid being retired by sheer virtue of the Russians not being able to SHORAD. (Note to self, Russian George Floyd saying "I CANT SHORAD" meme might be appropriate)

NATO projections have a tendency to exagerate Russian capabilities.
Also I can see ways to be creative with the usage of A-10s. Either situations like the northern Russian convoy where 40 miles of Russian tanks and trucks is just too tempting to not risk a A-10 to just light up the whole damn convoy, to for example doing as the Ukrainians just did, wait until there's an obvious gap in the Russian defense, slip a wing of A-10s into Russia flying low and fast, and just wreck every bridge, train, depot, and military canp behind the front
