I used to get some of my Schadenfreude from a website (since defunct) for people with SO's in prison. Man, there was a whole huge herd of cows on that site and this is the exact thought process that they all had. "If I allow myself to be used as a doormat he'll see it as absolute devotion and he'll realize that I'm his one true love and then we can be together and get married and have babies and a Golden Retriever....." And that's exactly what they did. They supported their inmates (like Chantal supports Nader) no matter how terribly they were treated (like Nader treats Chantal) only to be left in the dust when they weren't needed anymore (you get the idea). There was a whole separate section for whining about how they got dumped but no matter how many cautionary posts were made, the others just kept hammering away at their "relationships".
That's exactly Chantal's ambition. She's going to hang onto Nader for dear life until he realizes that nobody will ever be as devoted to him as she. She will even fulfill his most grotesque sexual perversions (hi Deedee) so what more could he want? But the longer it takes for him to see the light, the more frustrated she becomes. Cue chimp outs. Well--that, plus THC withdrawal while she's in Cuba.
This is never going to end until she finds a new man to be obsessed with.
