Kill is being credited to the British Starstreak system. If true, then this marks the first combat kill for the Bongs' crazy direct-impact AA system.

This was definitely designed in the 1980s because the engineers were all on coke

Hit-to-kill missiles aren't that uncommon, at least in larger formats.

Both the latest Patriot and THADD systems use interceptors with no warhead. Starstreak isn't designed to track anything remotely as difficult as those so its not that surprising they could integrate that capability onto a man portable weapon.

Good question. Perhaps a way to increase Chinese influence with Russia - "we gotta stick together against the West". However, that influence will only go so far. Russians still don't think that much of Chinese, and Chinese don't think that much of anyone who isn't Han Chinese.
Han Chinese don’t think of other Han Chinese.

parts of the russian far east are on track to having a majority chinese population within the next 20 years or something. also, part of that territory used to belong to china before it was forcefully ceded to russia (happened in the late 1800s i think) and china remembers this well. i think china is going to make territorial claims against russia in the not so distant future, and when they do that they will likely use both the ethnic chinese population in russia and russias economic dependence on china as leverage to press the issue.

I think their alliance will remain steady until putin is out of power. After that, I'd say there's pretty good odds that things will be changing quite a bit.

Have you seen where Taiwan is on a map?

That tiny gap between Taiwan and the mainland on a map is 100 miles of open water that leads directly onto the western coast which is densely packed with several cities the size of Kiev all the way from top to bottom, and we'd have weeks if not months of warning to prepare.

I'm certain that no one has been made happier by how these events in Ukraine have gone down than Taiwan and all the military planners in that region that might have had to respond to an attempt on the island, in fact agents of the Taiwanese goverment have already said as much. They now believe that any potential attack has been delayed for years after seeing how easily the US and others saw this invasion coming and how catastrophic a massive amphibious invasion directly into major metro areas could go considering how long its taking Russia to consolidate shit tier cites right on their border with months of preparation.

Taiwan is definitely in a much better position than Ukraine in all aspects, but they still have their own issues. For starters they're having difficulty keeping pilots, and the conscription system they have isn't particularly good. They have a decent navy, but it has a lot of older upgraded stuff, and they're severely lacking in the submarine department until their indigenous ones are built. They have been investing heavily into missiles of all sorts, and it seems to be paying off, so that's a point in their favor.

You are a great example for why women are not and never will be taken seriously.
Jealousy is really unattractive. Maybe if you worked out and lost some weight women would find you attractive. These guys look like they like to have fun and look fit. Maybe you should try to be more like them.

thats a good point
mariupol is like what, just a couple dozen miled away from DPR controlled territory? and it's a relatively small city, just a couple hundred thousand inhabitants, defended by a pretty small force of ukr soldiers (plus a couple hundred azov militiamen) and it's still holding out for over a month against the besieging russian army, an army that was often considered on par or even superior to the chinese army.

the chinese trying to land on taiwan and taking its cities would be a much more difficult operation than what the russians are facing in mariupol, and much uglier and bloodier for both sides as a result. they might actually decide that it's not worth the trouble and go all-in on trying to create some diplomatic or political way towards eventual reunification.

They would most likely suffer thousands dead before even getting boots on the ground in Taiwan. They have a shitload of antiship missiles, if they even hit a few troop transports, it will be very ugly for anyone unlucky enough to be on one. Even if you survive the explosion, swimming in full combat gear in open ocean is a bitch.

Ok, here is an interview with one of the women who were at Mariupol's maternity hospital during the attack. I am not going to translate the entirety of it, because I barely have the will to stay awake, so here are the cliffsnotes.
  • Yes, she is Instagram model named Marianna Vyshemirskaya, no, she wasn't paid to partake in that shitshow, she was there with her newborn.
  • No, Russia didn't bomb hospital, because "MUHAHA EVIL", it seems they didn't bomb it at all, since there was no sounds of planes.
  • Azov nazis used the part of the building as their headquarters, women and their newborn were forced to stay in another part of the building.
  • Immediately and I mean immediately after explosion there were "journalists" in army uniform and began taking pictures despite women's protests.

Who is interviewing her?

copy-pasta:
Humans have a natural fascination with death. I lived in Thailand for a few years. At least at that time, it was common to see "faces of death" magazines at news stands. Maybe seeing dead bodies somehow helps people to confront their own fears of death. I don't know. I'm sure some people are just twisted and get off on seeing dead bodies.
I will share a link to a site that catalogues photos of dead Russian soldiers. I don't share it for the purpose of glorifying violence.
The site claims to be making the images available for the sake of helping Russian families to identify their dead loved ones. I can't vouch for that claim one way or another.
But for the purposes of education - and to emphasize my view that war is hell and that every effort possible MUST be made to avoid warfare, I am making the link available here.
Be warned, the photos are graphic, gruesome and psychologically disturbing. Please do not visit the site if you are sensitive to such material. The images are truly haunting.
