General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I'm surprised it took this long for Karen's history to gain any sort of traction tbh. I suppose the overwhelming wave of hype and support for Calli completely overshadowed the many attempts to discredit her.

Now that she's had a series of fumbles with the lean comment and criticisms from mid-sized content creators about the content of her music, people are using the negativity to snowball this in now.

Honestly, comments from 2014 are just too far removed from present day reality to use against someone in good faith.

If these people start shitting on Calli for Demon stuff, it's going to be funnier when HoloEN takes a page out of HoloID's book and start threatening to take legal action.

That kind of move could and would trigger a massive drama and reckoning of the medium simply because it touches upon the very idea of being a VTuber itself. In that scenarion, the only people who would support it would be the anti-vtubers and failing indie ENVtubers. All other VTubers that made even a small amount of success would support Calli since they wanted the industry to keep going

The JP/EN/ID collab Iroha mentioned earlier this week is Ark with Anya and Mumei. Hopefully with Anya there and a game to focus on Mumei will be less of a nervous wreck.

'We do not involve ourselves in the personal lives of our talents'.

Karen fights this one alone, and it's probably correct to do so. Cover do not want to take a PR hit by suing people within the Court of Public Opinion by suing people for calling a racist a racist (using their thought process, not mine).

Yuzuki Roa has set a precedent domestically, that Japanese courts will consider a V-Tuber persona and the person behind it as the same person, but Cover themselves have never actually acted upon their threats of legal action, so I'm not sure how realistic it is for Cover to start suing nameless Twitter accounts.

but if they use "Mori Calliope" to address her, they pick a fight with a company. It's one of Cover's brands after all.

If they use DemonDice, or Karen, I bet Cover wouldn't bat an eye.

Towa's team took the first win. Interestingly, they were not streaming their POV (again) for it but now are. Would be interesting to see how they play on stream for once.
