Taiwan isn't some agriculture center like Ukraine, it produces a massive chunk of the world's microchips, Japan or South Korea would also probably want to get involved as well considering they will be threatened by a Chinese controlled Taiwan.

There's really not much they can do except make empty threats. The last 3 decades of US policy on China has completely failed, and they're now too big to bully. Nobody's going to fight a nuclear armed superpower over a Chinese island right off China's coastline, idk why this is difficult for some people to accept (lacism against the slants or something? ). You have this all backward: the US won't even directly fight a distinctly second tier atomic power over the US client state of Ukraine, despite investing countless billions in the place since the 90's. It's definitely not going to lose aircraft carriers and risk getting nuked trying to defend TSMC.

Personally, overall I thought well of Putin until he started this war. Didn't agree with everything he did but, yes, he did oversee Russia's recovery. He has been a strong leader. Have joked that Putin should come here as a "contract President", vastly better than Joey. Just believe he could have gotten much of what he wanted from Ukraine through peaceful means.

As things stand, all the "attaboys" Putin earned by improving things in Russia have been wiped out by the "oh, shit!" of his Ukraine debacle.

It's really unfortunate that Putin got obsessed with the whole rebuilding the USSR thing. Everyone knows the whole "Moscow is vulnerable" shit is a poor excuse as no one is going to invade a nuclear power, especially the conflict shy western powers.
So all Putin has done is piss away a lot of good will he had earned throughout the beginning of the 21st century all so Russians can pretend they still rule an empire that stretches from Berlin to Gvozdev.

Probably the fact that under Putin Russia’s life expectancy went from 65 to 75, the Russian economy grew massively, malnutrition and hunger became virtually unheard of, and people get left alone by the government unless they fuck with it(a major improvement from the soviet days).

Putin took power in an absolutely broken country and oversaw its recovery. He even rehabilitated it’s national self-image by fighting and winning proxy wars with America. There’s a reason he isn’t hated in Russia, despite his corruption.

This is also unnecessary, especially for girls.
The important difference is that Russian children are not involved in conflict, so compared to Ukrainian kids, the chances of them bombing some separatist babushka are quite small.

A bigger question is, they don't allow civilian ownership of modern sporting arms so I really don't get much out of them assembling an AK beyond the "cool" factor.

Is there any movement in Russia to push for civilian ownership of rifles or I guess its not happening for a long time.

I do find it interesting that its probably better for Russia to push for it if they fear invasions from outside powers as iirc Latvia or Lithuania is now pushing for civies to be trained in owning them though Ukraine tried doing it way way too late.
