I'll beloeve it's really dead IF they cancel next year, you know the retards at E3 have have not yet learned their lessons so it's premature to call it dead until we know it's truly without a doubt that the people behind it understand it's over

Oh it’s not dead, it’s just dead this year. They’re holding it in 2023. That’s unless they cancel it, which I wouldn’t mind.

As I said before this is a perfect example of now versus then, 2002's E3 was amazing, 20 years later we get jack shit, imagine what a gamerbro from 2002 would think if you appeared in a time machine and said "hey buddy, want to visit E3 in the year 2022!" and it's literally fucking nothing.

It really breaks my heart to no end how fucked in the ass this entire hobby has been.

I know if I had a time machine one of the first things I'd do is hit up every E3 from 1995 to 2006.

They already killed everything about E3 that made it unique. The "real" E3 with all the big names, everything for the video game press to see and do, the BOOTH BABES died back in 2006, before a "scaling back" around 2007.

The booth babes were one of the most iconic features and we just can't have that anymore. Even back in 2015 you had Anita Sarkeesian, who wormed herself into a prominent "voice", bitching about the AUDACITY of E3 to put a cute girl on the badges that year...and the girl in question wasn't even sexualized very much.
As I also said Capcom got away with having a Cammy booth babe complete with thong at 2015's E3, but I doubt anything like that was seen after that point.

But the 9th gen is a complete wash, I don't think I've played a SINGLE "current gen" only game, only cross gen games, that's pretty bad considered we're almost 2 years into the new gen, you can't even fucking find new consoles unless you pay out the ass.

Like I said the whole western industry is in free fall and probably about to crash and burn.
I haven't really played a single AAA game of any kind since the Nintendo Switch first dropped. I even found myself utterly disinterested in picking up my own Switch again despite how nice Animal Crossing: New Horizons was when COVID came around and was still scary and unknown, and I just don't have the patience to wait for the new Zelda game anymore with bigger things in my life to worry about. All I tend to play these days are stuff via Steam that mostly consists of turn-based strategies, colony sims/city builders a-la Banished, some Devolver Digital action titles, and not much else aside from Mass Effect: Legendary Edition because I felt a bit nostalgic for that series.

What about Elden Ring, one may ask? A part of me is interested in playing it having been a Soulsfag from way back, but... that game is a very obvious time sink at a point in my life where I need to work and save money up and not dive into escapism like I used to when I was much younger. Age really caught up to me, it seems. I feel like I'm slowly growing out of video games completely. It's an abstract kind of feel.

For the past decade I kept wondering why my friends went apeshit fot the E3 every year. Guess the shitposting and laughing at the embarassing presentations is something I will miss but oh well, E3 was well past its expiration date.
I do have some fond memories of E3 though, like when DMC 5 was announced.

What's sad is how not even 20 years after the amazing E3s of 2002 and 2003 the event is now basically dead, teenage me used to think E3 was one of the coolest things on the planet.

But it's been a shadow of what it once was for a long time now.
This kind of hits on a personal level because E3 2002 was the first one I followed by way of magazines.

It seemed so cool at the time, now 20 years later we get... absolutely fucking nothing!

Unless you got your dick personally sucked by a booth babe at E3 2002, I see no reason why you would proselytize about it this goddamn much.

That's literally all he does, though? It's an old schtick at this point.
He mixes shit up that happened in the 90's in with it though.

And he forgot about the 2007 market crash Like how could you miss what's now reared it's head again. The 2010's never left outside of a 4 year gap, but then they came roaring back like a sleepy lion.

Man just knowing Capcom at least got their head out of their collective asses with the fuck ups inafune bought was at least a good goodbye for me.
Me and the guys being terrified that dmc5 would be DmC2 and jumping out of their sofa and giving out high gives was the last big gaming stream i've seen with them, and i'm afraid nothing Will ever get me that hypes again.
(Metroid dread was Nice but was not really the same)

As I said, because that was the first E3 I was aware of, had not heard of the convention before that, but being a video game magazine reader by that point was the first time I saw photos of it and I was pretty amazed.

My favorite E3 though is 2003 because that was the first time I saw TV coverage and that was when MGS3 was announced, which was the hypest shit.

That's literally all he does, though? It's an old schtick at this point.
If the modern day would stop sucking shit for 5 minutes maybe I'd be able to let the past go.

Everything is bitterly ironic when contrasted with the way things used to be, it's why I keep bringing it up.

In this instance I think it's relevant because we all remember how E3 used to be.

I think people forget how much I miss the 90s as well, what I'm obsessed with is broadly the "turn of the millennium" era which is about 1995 through 2008.

Interestingly enough, E3 reflects this cultural moment, it started in 1995 and started to lose it's luster in 2007.

TO A LESSER EXTENT THE FIRST HALF OF THE 2010S
2009-2015 in hindsight wasn't so bad either and it's an era my memories of grow sweeter of with age.

Everything entered freefall in 2016 though and it genuinely just gets worse with each passing year, it's really quite terrifying and hopefully this trend will reverse soon.

All this 2003 - 2006 nonsense. E3 peaked in 1999 and that's a fact.

What's sad is how not even 20 years after the amazing E3s of 2002 and 2003 the event is now basically dead, teenage me used to think E3 was one of the coolest things on the planet.

It's really getting clearer and clearer to me that 2015 marks the end of the "good old days" for pretty much everything.

At E3 2015 Capcom hired this woman with a massive ass to be a booth babe dressed as Cammy to promote Street Fighter V, but I doubt you saw anything like that after that year.

It's absolutely a reflection of the sorry state of video games as a whole in the west, E3 used to be one big fucking party, this whole hobby used to feel like one big fucking party.

And they've just completely fucked it in the ass and ruined it.

One of the clearest examples of how Woke is ruining things is Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2, the game flat out had to be taken away from the developer because they were so filled with Woke jackasses that couldn't finish the game.

The truth though is that there's been a rot in video games long before Woke showed up, originally it was just good old fashioned greed that was sapping a lot of life out of the medium, Woke is just finally tipping the whole thing over after it was already on shaky ground.

We really do need another crash and we need the industry to become Japan focused again, the more western games got, the worse things got, even the best games coming out of the west, PC games, were negatively affected by gaming becoming more western focused.

Good lord!

E3 in 2022 would have had a Will Smith moment where “women” like Froskurinn from G4TV would slap male gamers around for not finding her hot enough.

I love her so much bros I don't care who knows.

Not so sure they'll bother moving forward at this point. The Covid excuse can probably still be squeezed by in 2022. But they cancelled the digital side. That bodes badly. It's over Johnny.
