Tech you miss/ new tech trends you hate - ok boomers

In the technology side, has there ever been a good mid/high-end tier PC component where RGB is NOT added? I swear, looking for a cooler/motherboard/PC case without RGB is fucking hell, especially mid-full tower and water-cooling stuff.
Got a AIO recently that happens to have RGB. The RGB cables are separete from the regular power ones and are meant to be plugged into a fucking RGB header.

If you're looking for cases without RGB added, check out Fractals offerings, they dont seem to add any of that shit at all and they make pretty nice cases overall, especially the defines and the new torrent case. For coolers, if you want one without RGB and great fans out of the box you could go with anything from Noctua (moreso their black edition products, the normal fans look like shit), otherwise the rest of the competition seems to include fans with at least single colour lights if not RGB. As for motherboards youre fucked if you want top spec and no RGB unless you went for some workstation-tier board

I think their normal fans look like one of these bad boys:

Toslink/Optical audio. Their really is no reason they cant update the standard or introduce it in a new system. It works great for my soundbar. No electrical noise and its digital so its been amazing since I stepped up from my regular 3.5MM on my sound card.
Cause it's simpler to throw more wires/pins in to make up for increasing bandwidth, especially when digital isn't as suceptible to noise (Or shouldn't. Ground loop is a separate problem) as analog. Toshiba didn't even make a new digital audio protocol (S/PDIF), and just felt like making a new physical transport.

That still looks more appealing than any of noctuas fans. I cant think of any build that noctua fans would look half decent in, only really good for pcs without a window on the side or other appliances such as 3d printers or whitebox servers
The whole point was building their brand, since you instantly know it's a Noctua.

Got plans for a Fractal Meshify XL, coolers are mixed between Deepcool AK620 (non-rgb) and an NZXT Kraken X53 (rgb but liquid). As for motherboard, yeah, I just settled for B550M PLUS and it has RGB so fug.

Coolers are the issue. I could go for air but the case may as well be a massive greenhouse. Liquid is a possible go-to but RGB. I could get rid of the Kraken fans and possibly merge it with the Deepcool but again, retard at tech.

Modern cases lacking the option for 5'25 frontware. In my case I have one drive that I use to rest SSDs and my phone if I need to do a quick transfer, sometimes discs. Below that I have a drawer (formerly a disc drive)

I'll be painting the front of the drawer to match the actual disc drive when I can.

I brought this up on this very thread nearly two years ago. I find it funny that even cases that cost above $100 or more only have 2 3.5 inch hard drive caddies and 2 2.5 inch ssd caddies. I know that they will all tell you "NVME's are the future" but it's expensive compared to hard drives and even ssd's, and even if it does go down in price. What about the reliability of the NVME compared to HDD's and even the better SSD's?

Anyways, over a year ago I bought this TJ08 from Silverstone. Now, somebody might complain around here but there wasn't many options for PC cases with 2 5.25 drive bays. You either got the cheapo ones or the better cases just don't flat out exist at all. No where to found not even on ebay. The TJ08 was the only case I found that was actually being sold and had some form of cable management. Compared to every other case in the market, and especially with the MATX form factor. The TJ08 is the best option for anyone who doesn't like glass, likes 5.25 bays, and also MATX apparently. I know ATX has more but I find it weird to put an MATX board into an ATX case. That's just me though.

The Fractal Meshify XL looks fucking sick and i too plan for it to be my next case

I also instantly know i dont want to buy that fan when i see it on the shelf
At the time they were the best performing fans in terms of noise and cooling than anything else on the market. I'm sure there are a bunch of clones at this point just as good. That and they make the black on grey ones.

I dunno about you but I spend about 5 minutes every 4 years looking at the inside of my pc.

It still works well enough for the purposes it's used for, pretty sure most streaming services don't even offer any kind of uncompressed multi-channel audio. Since it's a uni-directional interface implementing any kind of handshake protocol would be difficult and could lead to problems using it with older devices if an updated higher bit-rate version for uncompressed multichannel audio were to be developed. I use it with my Google Chromecast Audio to connect to my hi-fi system, gives much better dynamic range than the regular 3.5mm to RCA jacks.

Dedicated MP3 players. It was pretty nice to have a dedicated music device seperate from your phone. And as much as I dislike the iPod for it's needless annoyance with syncing music onto it, that clickwheel is so good.

Even the cheap and shitty ones without a display had their charm. You put your music on that one, hit shuffle, and now you're locked in. No more skipping around for specific tracks to listen to. You were constantly listening to parts of your music collection you hadn't touched in ages.
I miss the click wheel on MP3 players. Fuck phones for getting rid of buttons.
