What is the Wogglebug's sexual orientation?

...speaking of modern associations of Oz character names, I just learnt that the Finnish translation of the Tin Woodman is something like "the Tin Lumberjack", but the name somehow immediately got me thinking of some kind of a ginormous forest harvester machine.
And now I have the Pacific Rim main theme stuck in my head again. What the fuck is wrong with this forum.

@ActualKiwi I know that you know they are all characters with both good points and flaws, every single one of them including the Wogglebug in his original version. I wasn't accusing you guys of not understanding about that. I was accusing the Oz fans. Whenever I went to an Oz fan forum just to look at the posts (never to sign up and interact) any time the Wogglebug was mentioned it was always in a negative way. These are not the people I want an association with whatsoever.

@For The Internet I realize actually that not all Oz fans have this narrow view of him, and there are a few that view him in a positive light but different from my own. But these are the exception and not the rule. For just as long as there are people who claim to outright hate the Wogglebug and insist he isn't supposed to be liked at all who are not only in the Oz fandom but are considered but basically everyone there to be greatly respected and esteemed members and writers also (which is the case), then I must always be essentially counted out from that fandom. What I've been saying is I would much rather have my own fandom that is divided from theirs for always and not have an actual connection to them in the sense of being tied to each other like family. I cannot go to any Oz social media group without actually trying to make these intentions crystal clear in some way.

@NobleGreyHorse I am able to see the validity in the points you brought up about the name and the word "wog" and the racism connected with it may not go completely unnoticed. If you really think I need to be prepared to be met with criticism about it because of this, and even if I explain what the word's definition is in Genoma in the movie and novelization, I will be prepared. One way is by clarifying my intentions and clearing up any misunderstandings in the F.A.Q. section of my website which has a lot of views per week also. I've also already been long before now thinking up a short story in a book I'm working on that may well be my next novel in which the Wogglebug is in Victorian era New York and he helps a teacher and students out by bringing about six of the students, who all have differences in race or ethnicity of social status, together to help them understand in the most positive ways how they are all the same inside, no matter what others tell them. So that this will debunk the concept of the Wogglebug being ever racist, especially with me writing about him.

@WogglebugLover define "A lot of views per week" ?
No, do not write another short story, focus on one thing at a time. Finish your movie, pay your debts, before even thinking of starting on another project.
And it won't debunk anything, people will still question it, as the wogglebug is not originally yours, he is Baums creation.

I don't think you realise how arrogant-sounding and unrealistic it is to say 'I want my own fandom' at this point unless you're talking about pipe dreams you'd love to be real but understand won't happen without a lot of hard work. Please consider rephrasing that because you're going to turn off prospective buyers if they catch wind of that. Try being more diplomatic and not using language that tells people how to feel or assumes they're going to be fans. This is just off the top of my head, but when talking about picking up a readership/viewership (as opposed to picking up fans or a fandom) I'd say something like:

I have a different view of the Wogglebug than the one commonly portrayed in Oz canon and fandom, and I felt like Wogglebug had great potential as a character so I decided to create my own universe for him that's independent of Oz. I've made him the star of my series and I'd love for other people to discover the Wogglebug and see him from my perspective. My hope is that if people read my books and see him in my film they'll come to see him the way that I do and come to respect and like him as much as I do.

That's just an example, of course. The problem with the language you use is that it does come across as arrogant. I'm not saying you are arrogant, just that the language you use comes across that way. You seem like you're assuming that if people read/see your work they're going to become fans to such a degree that they'll base a fandom around it. It's kind of the same issue as when you per-emptively created a fanclub for your work without having actual fans. For one thing, authors/film makers do not make their own fan clubs. I understand your reasons for doing it, I've read what you said about it, but humility goes a long way, and if you invite people to see your version of Wogglebug and enjoy him as you do rather than tell it comes off so much better.

I mentioned putting the cart before the horse previously and I just want to briefly explain because you do that quite a bit. What it means is that you're focusing on secondary issues (the cart) rather than the crucial thing needed to make those secondary things happen (the horse). Thinking about doing four more movies before you've even released the first is putting the cart before the horse. Making a fan club before you have a fan base is putting the cart before the horse. Working on new projects when you don't even have enough money to pay your cast and crew for your current production is putting the cart before the horse. Saying you want a fandom before you've even released your primary media is putting the cart before the horse.

If you focus on making the movie the best it can be and you make a compelling character and a solid movie, you'll get customers and if you get customers who enjoy your work, you will eventually get a fanbase. It's just not the important thing at this stage.

@WogglebugLover
You need to STOP working on WoggleBug, get therapy, get a job, and maybe start working on it when you aren't insane. That's not even being rude. It's fun to read you going around in circles but seriously, you need to put WoggleBug on hold and focus on yourself.

She's been obsessing for years and doesn't realize that she's never going to be happy with the finished product. She's just going to turn her wheels and not progress past that... I'd be surprised if even one movie gets made.

@HickoryDickory If you need proof that my movies will have been made when the day comes they have been, I will release them to both DVD and Amazon Instant Video as soon as I complete the first one. I assure you I will do all I can do to get this movie made. So long as @voiceguy comes through next year I'll have a definite chance of it getting done.

@ActualKiwi The novelizations that stink as you are thinking of were ones written by freelance writers hired to novelize screenplays and not by the screenwriters or directors themselves. With me I am doing both movie and noevlization and you definitely should read over the pages of this thread from about page 84 to have a clear understanding of what I am talking about. Me and @NobleGreyHorse already discussed this thoroughly. My own novelization will go perfectly with my movie.

@WogglebugLover do you have any close friends or family that know about the project? And by friends I mean offline, real life friends.

What are their opinions on it?

If you are unemployed how are you funding this project currently?

Well, I suppose you want these questions answered.

1) My family knows nothing about this project as I keep my distance from them in my personal life and what my dreams aspirations are. A few of them know about the Wogglebug being my favorite character of all time but we have never talked about my dreams and aspirations about this project for years and years. My mother does not support my dreams of being a moviemaker simply because she has the mentality that just because she knows nothing about how to make such a dream work (she knows nothing about anything at all) that it must be impossible to do. But she is someone who hasn't even any knowledge at all about the digital age. She has no knowledge of the internet or how to use a computer and has never owned or used one herself. I am as ashamed of her being a relative of mine because of this fact.

2) I have no other social life beyond a few members of my family when I'm offline.

3) I used to be in a very different living situation when my family owned a motel for many years and we made a good bit from it most all the time. But we sold the motel in 2013 and I've been living on my own for the first time in my life ever since. There was no money left over after our sale, ironically. And I now live off Social Security twice a month (once from me and my mother sends some of hers). This takes care of the most immediate importance of paying my rent and any bills I do my best to keep low. And whatever is left over afterward is for me to spend on other things. Also, twice a year I receive a large deposit from my other family (Christmas and birthday). The apartment I live in was the most affordable and nicest we found in the area. But after three years here my rent keeps getting raised and so I've signed up for the "waiting lists" of lesser expensive apartments which I am at least hoping I might make a move to in the spring or summer of 2016.

Even if wog or Woggle (or your affectionate term, "Woggie" which even if it wasn't a slur, sounds like a slur) isn't a racist term in Genoma (which is a type of salami btw) it's still racist on earth, you know where the audience that's consuming your media is from. Even if his name was Niggerguy and Nigger meant "kind and smart man" in salami town the term is still racist in real life.
Like I'd change his name to something like "Gollybug" or whatever
Edit: my bad it's called Genoa salami but your world is still too close to being salami town for little old Eastern European me

Even if I was actually willing to change his name, which I am not, it is too late now.

@WogglebugLover any plans on getting a job?

How about making some friends?

My family has been looking for an online job for me for a year or so, but we keep turning up at dead ends with the search. Online jobs of whatever they will find are all I can or will do.

I just don't like the idea much of getting out in public if I can help it. I live in a neighborhood, but another factor that prevents me from getting out is how self-conscious I feel about my teeth situation. If you read it before, I have a dental problem of which the cost to fix is way too high to meet any time soon also.

So you are unemployed, living off social security and money from your mother, will only take Internet jobs, won't look for the job yourself. Correct?

Moving to cheaper housing is the only thing you are doing to increase money available to go towards wogglebug, and that might happen sometime next year?

Your only other idea is indiegogo, but you don'the reach out and do any marketing?

So how and when are you going to pay @voiceguy ?

You really should be helping look, especially if your mom doesn't understand computers enough to properly search.
Edit: After reading your reply to CatFace: You can't afford not to. Even if it's just an hour of your time a day, you can step away from His Bugginess. Besides, it's still technically all for Woggles anyway.

Ah, the creative recluse dream~ It's a beautiful thing, no? Unfortunately, it's pretty unattainable if you don't have a set of skills that translate easily online. Since you've been learning to use art-based programs anyway and you consider yourself to be pretty computer savvy(if a bit lazy on the search engine side of things), you might do well learning some website design skills or some other computer-based skills. You'd be surprised how simple (and free!) they are to pick up online- most people are just too lazy or busy to learn it themselves.
