President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

Well I see Putin is sending more troops to die. Something tells me they are just as untrained as the last.
With shitter tanks and supporting vehicles too. That one Su-35 yesterday that got pancaked was 40 million dollars up in flames. We may actually see the AN-2s take to the sky if losses maintain this tempo. I'll piss myself laughing if we start seeing T-55s or MiGs on the Russian side. Hopefully we can see those Harpoon missiles or M270 MLRS the UK is dumping off score some major kills on the battlefield.

Paraphrasing someone that even if Russian shot down all Ukraine Turkish drone stock thrice over, despite little or no proof of that, the cost of all them is less than one of these expensive military machines, and those drones (plus personnel operated weapons they sometimes capture) claimed far more than one Russian vehicle. Russia is said to produce 200 tons of gold per year, which is only sold on the London market with a tax markup nowadays. They better master alchemy soon at this rate.

Jesus Christ dude, have you seen the photos of tied up dead kids in the basement?

The pictures published so far are only weak sauce beginning, in the coming days we are going to see some pretty fucked up shit.
With how gruesome each picture gets. I wouldn't be surprised if their's pictures of beheaded children at some point. Which is honselty sad to type.

Seriously I doubt the Putin bros haven't even look at the actual pictures.

It's also the fact that along with these machines they lose (supposedly) trained personnel, which is far worse when it comes to pilots. That's a lot of added cost.

UK wouldn’t be sending Harpoons. More likely the coastal defense systems are radars and Hellfire land launch systems.

That person is a member of Hungarian rulling party, and Hungary is actively messing around war on the russian side. Maybye that.
This is stupid. It's about as relevant as the Posso-posting. But I won't argue further on the issue.

If a War Tribunal is set up, these guys need to go as well. That is pure genocidal rethoric, there is a limit for everything, these texts are encouraging some of the worst human behaviour in the name of some made up horseshit!

And yes, precisely. Not sure about the replaceability of the drones considering the chip shortage, but these drones paid for themselves multiple times over by fucking over their supply lines, a few attacks and you did more damage than what you paid for when buying the drone. Amazing, really!

This shit is honestly mirroring the Yugoslav Wars. Horrific war crimes against civilians, genocidal rethoric based on ultranationalism, wiping out villages of civilians. Gets worse after every day, and I frankly don't even know if the Russian side can be trusted in the event of a peace treaty considering they denied for months that they were going in for an invasion and are actively making narratives up while promoting genocide and denying the Ukrainian national identity. I wouldn't trust anything coming from Putin, seems that a military defeat might be the only warranty of them keeping their word, sadly. Really fucking sucks!

It's useless, they will continue to live in their make-believe world of muh based Russia, they already made up their minds and are unlikely to change. All of their supposedly healthy skepticism somehow disappears when it comes to consuming Russian propaganda.
They wouldn't know what to do if they were trapped for a year (or two like it was before) with gopniks, navigating prison rules to save their own skin from a similar fate, and I really don't wish it on anyone.

Rape is perhaps the worst of it, if you consider it preferable to murder, but abuse is certainly not limited to it. There's no end to the creativity of bored low-IQ slavs when it comes to making someone else's life miserable.

UK will probably send Harpoons, they are set to phase them out soon so why not. The problem is that the UK don't have any land launch systems for those missiles. If they can find a launch system then the UK will provide them I have no doubt.

Comments from the UK suggest that they are actively trying to source those systems from other NATO members. For instance, Denmark has them. In fact, I believe Boris Johnson had described the UKs efforts as like an Amazon Prime for Ukraine in terms of coordinating the sourcing and delivery of these systems. - they ask, and if it's possible they get delivered to their door.

Plus, the Harpoons achieving their designed aims in sinking Russian ships is better than decommissioning them.

It is oddly fascinating watch the various Western Nations send in more and more of their ever more insane killing devices for field testing against the Russian Conscripts. You'd almost feel sorry for them if it wasn't for the Rapes, Murders and Dog Murders.

I had been wondering about that helicopter being cut in two. Apparently it's the Brits showing off their new Starstreak MANPAD system. Just look at that missile. Now there's a weapon meant to look insane and intimidating.

STARSTREAK was made as lethal as possible with some half decent specs behind it which the british officer class somehow didn't constantly fuck with (One of the reasons our navy is so in the shit at points right now is because the Admiralty constantly has a case of the shinies and demands additions to vessels instead of just accepting, then modifying vessels later on).

Starstreaks missile head is fucking tungsten why? Because fuck you. It's not at all surprising the helicopter folded itself in two and broke apart when basically walloped by a 15kg shaped tungsten round. Shit aint surviving that.

Amazingly, the Russians have seemingly phased out the T-55 with the focus going to the T-72 instead. So expect them rocking up in more A models, or Bs. Which considering on paper they were to go into a slapfight with T-64s... well.

If the UK can get the harpoons out there it'd be another nice real-life weapons test to see what they would've been actually capable of.

If anything its been a great thing for the UK MoD as its going to cause Based Ben Wallace (the now increasingly popular defence minister) to push for proper rearming of britain after he's helped clear out the stocks of all the old crap we had lying about. Dude was a former army captain too, so knows what could do with fucking off and replacing.

You guys should stop answering to the Putinfags.

They want to believe that Russia is the savior of the white race and it's against the Globohomo, it doesn't matter what you say, they will not believe you. Russia could be burning down (which is happening) and Putin could be going into the most schizo rants in the world (which he is doing) and they would still say this is actually a new 4d chess plan by Putin and how everything in Russia is fine.

Just stop answering them.

That's interesting. Russia's minister of defense Shoigu never served, or had any sort of military education, pinnacle of his accolades is being buddies with Putin.
Seems like common sense to have someone familiar with the subject to head ministry of defense, but alas.

I've got questions regarding the eyebrows of that one fella which you have probably noticed as well

It is common sense to have people who have experience in a field of work they are being assigned to.

Although the UK Government hasn't been doing that as a lot of ministers don't have experience or qualifications for those positions to begin with

Sometimes its not always an option, but generally the UK tries to have someone with some experience to hand.

I mean, before Mr Wallace's steady hand we had Gavin Williamson, who was a bit of a joke, apparently asking for us to put weapons systems on ferries and tractors. He was sacked for getting a bit too chummy with Huawei.

They'd be better off sending Penguins (if they have any in stock); those can be truck-mounted, or slung on helos. The problem is the Penguin is very short-ranged (compared to Harpoon), at something like 15 miles.

I've seen pro-Putin shills be all like "what are you a woman, stop being so emotional, it's war, of course people will die" when presented with evidence of civilian death when you can't claim it as fake or false flag anymore, I don't take them seriously because those same people would get outraged over those unconfirmed vids of POWs getting kneecapped who may or may not have been artillerymen responsible for those very civilian shellings.

There was that tweet about Russian soldiers being shocked at basic amenities in Ukraine and the other thread mocked it because Ukraine isn't a rich country itself. But if anything, it just says things about Russia. I've been to Ukraine, the poor Western part and despite the poverty, all those things described were there. Gas stations were well equipped, you were able to buy things despite all the disrepair. Bumfuck Russian towns are certainly different. Also, another funny thing about it is that the people mocking this usually dismiss figures like GDP per capita being just meaningless numbers, but when talking about this subject they suddenly bring up that Ukraine has lower GDP per capita than Russia... of course it matters, but there are other factors as well. GDP per capita is just an average and the Russian one is certainly pumped up by all the wealthy oligarchs.
I have all the reasons to believe that Russian soldiers loot everything because it's always been that way, the more things change the more they stay the same. Just like with Red Army as told by grandma who were told by Stalin that the West was full of children dying on the streets, and then seeing vast riches in Germany and elsewhere.
